Kailen moved. The movement of his right hand was fluid, simple, yet filled with a strange sense of complexity.
Runic alphabets shimmered shortly to life. They glowed, transforming into a rune. The rune shimmered with golden illumiscence.
The audience observed, admiring the young man’s skill.
Then, a runic dolphin emerged from the runes. It floated on the air as if it was swimming in an ocean.
The dolphin did not look very eye-catching.
It had golden runes shimmering over its body. It was not large, and didn’t blot out the sky.
The large holographic screen hovering above the competition grounds displayed:
[ Kailen Darkhaven, rank 1 runesmith from the Astral Empire. Runeskill proficiency 99.8 percent. Placement undecided. Awaiting results of other competitors ]
The stadium fell completely silent. The cheers ceased. Every activity halted. The silence was extremely suffocating. Pin-drop silence.
Mouths hung open. Some rubbed their eyes to see whether or not what they were seeing was real.
Finally, someone managed to regain their calm and broke the silence.
" I forfeit." It was a feminine voice. The female runesmith from the Cornelius Empire, Stephanie Gigs, the one rumored to have a purity level of 88 percent.
She was just about to get to work when she saw the absurdity of Kailen Darkhaven’s work.
What was the point in competing when she already knew the outcome? Who could defeat a rune skill proficiency of 99 percent?
Another voice, accompanied by a sigh, followed: " I forfeit." The runesmith from the Arman Empire declared. She shared the same reasoning as the one from the Cornelius Empire.
This was followed by the runesmith from the Uzumaki Empire.
" I forfeit." Why fight a pointless battle? It was obvious that Kailen Darkhaven was the winner of the Runesmith competition. Such an absurdity for a rune skill proficiency was not supposed to exist, but he had witnessed it with his own eyes.
Chris Sung sighed. He remembered something one of his seniors said: "There is always someone better than you."
His defeat was not a pitiful one. It was simply... inevitable. Kailen Darkhaven, huh. So the rumors of his runeskill proficiency of 99 percent were the truth, turned into an untrue rumor because of how absurd it sounded.
" Where did the Astral Empire get this monster from?" Henry Crudes muttered.

"Heh... turns out the rumors of this guy having a rune skill proficiency of 99 percent was just facts."

" The dolphin... it looks so simple... but..."

Yet, they have all been overshadowed." The Pope sighed as he looked at Kailen in admiration.
" The most absurd thing is that he does not even look amazed by his performance." The Alchemy society head of the Tian Xu Empire said.
" It’s as if everything he did was nothing, just an expectant outcome." His runesmith colleague added.
" The expressions on your faces... I feel like kicking you sly old foxes in the butt," Old Ha said, boasting a shameless grin. " Young Rin, I hope you’ve taken pictures of their stupid expressions. They will be my DP for the next 200 years."
Li added, " I usually don’t agree with your shamelessness, Old Ha, but I think that’s a very good plan. These guys look like they just ate some cow dung."
" Junior, if you dare take pictures of us, you will turn into meat paste right here," the runesmith association head from the Vatican Empire said.
Rin felt his whole world crumbling apart. He was supposed to feel happy about Kailen’s accomplishment for the empire.
Also, he would definitely be getting another promotion after this competition, since he was the one to discover Kailen and rope him in to be the participant for the Astral Empire in this competition.
But the pressure these old monsters from the other empires were radiating as they stared at him almost made him pee on himself.
What did he do to Old Ha and Mr. Rin to deserve this?
" So this was your plan all along, huh," the Runesmith Association head of the Tian Xu Empire said. "...hide such a monstrous prodigy from everyone and then overwhelm our geniuses once and for all. Well played, you fucking foxes."
Everyone in the higher-ups VIP shared the same sentiment.
" So this is the grandson of His Majesty," the Alchemy Association head of the Arman Empire couldn’t help but muse to himself. "Such a formidable young man. The matters of the royal family have nothing to do with me. Best to not approach him." He sighed.
" No doubt, this young man does not belong to the low-tier civilizations."
" I’m told he’s also a captain of the Astral Empire Military at such a young age, and has terrifying combat capabilities."
" Indeed. His achievements in the military are terrifying. He’s also a rank 1 Black Flask."
" I wonder what surprises he’s hiding for the Alchemy competition."
The higher-ups discussed amongst themselves.
Most of them had not paid closer attention to Kailen before, but not anymore. They were very curious about the young man.
They had instructed their information channels to research him as soon as possible and report to them immediately.
" It’s a pity though that he’s this old bastard’s grand disciple. What kind of lucky charm did he stumble on?" Several of the higher-ups sighed as they stared at Old Ha in jealousy.
The supporters from the Astral Empire cheered so much that the stadium was shaking.
Especially those from earth- who had come to the Vatican Empire for various purposes and had decided to come enjoy the competition,and the earthlings who were part of the Runesmith and alchemy team Kailen had come with.
This was the president of the Earth Federation!
How far he has come!
As for Kailen,he was calm. The outcome was inevitable. He was not surprised.
He simply mused to himself, " I suppose the healing competition is next. After that the alchemy competition will follow."
Just when he spoke, the results of the Runesmith competition were revealed.
Kailen was in first place.
Chris Sung was in second place.
Henry Crudes was in third place.
The other competitors from the other empires who had forfeited were not included in the rankings.
Arrie smiled on seeing the outcome of things.
Her Kai would always shine the best wherever he went. And he was the only one who could behave this way and act like he had not pulled off something extremely ridiculous.
Heh... this was her man.
She couldn’t disgrace herself as his partner in the healing competitions, right?
