He Became A Monstrous Genius After Obtaining A Time Dilation Artifact-Chapter 471. Underestimation
Kailen waited.
Very soon, a figure made an appearance.
The technician.
She floated calmly in the void, staring at Kailen Darkhaven.
She had a carefree smile on her face as she stared at Kailen.
As she expected, there was a mix of believable calm and nervousness on his face, an indication that he had accepted his fate.
"It's a pity we are both not on the same side. You'd have made a pretty good disciple. But…" She shrugged. "This is just the way things are. Oh, do you like my outfit?"
Kailen's expression was calm, yet the fear in his eyes was undeniable.
She sighed. "Looks like you are not in the mood for chit chat."
She transformed into her actual form, and floated calmly towards him.
Then, Kailen sped off in obvious panic.
He was trying to flee.
She scoffed.
It was fear at work. It was normal for his survival instincts to kick in.
Her figure whizzed through the void, narrowly evading an asteroid floating calmly in space.
She was enjoying the chase, moving towards Kailen Darkhaven fleeing in panic.
The thrill of going after a prey, and enjoying the thrill of the delayed, long chase was very enjoyable.
Suddenly, he stopped, looking around in the expanse in panic, as if he had nowhere to go, as if he had reached a dead end.
He panted heavily, an obvious indication that he had run out of universe energy reserves.
"Finally realized there's no point trying to run? I'm a rank 1 intermediate stage galactic level lifeform, Darkhaven."
As she neared him, he shook, uncontrollably, completely terrified.
She approached him. She was not gonna kill him with poisons.
"I wonder how sweet your life force will taste."
She approached his terrified figure.
Kailen stood at the edge of the region which was distorted with dense universe energy, as if it was collapsing inwards.
The moment her hands slowly reached out in glee to touch his figure, Kailen's figure moved forward and disappeared.
Another futile attempt to survive.
Her prey had always been like this.
Struggling at the last strands of hope for survival.
Even Darkhaven, someone she deemed similar to herself, was like everyone else, trying to deny the inevitable.
She sighed, then moved forwards towards where he had run towards.
Her speed increased. She was done playing games. When she grabs him, she will execute him cleanly.
However, the moment she stepped forward, space collapsed all around her.
The region was collapsing inwards.
She tried to move, but it was to no avail.
She was trapped.
She could kill Kailen Darkhaven, but not this.
This was a natural phenomenon, some sort of gravitational collapse in space she was not strong enough to defeat.
She sighed in realization, a calm, defeated smile gracing her lips.
She looked across the expanse.
Kailen Darkhaven stood calmly outside the gravitational collapse from her.
He stood outside the region where space was collapsing around her, folding around her.
He was not perturbed by the outcome, he had planned everything. She realized.
From leaving the outpost without masking his presence. It was to lure her to follow him here. He was not running away from her, he was trying to bring her to her death.
That means he had seen her, and identified her.
The expressions of fear, calm acceptance of his fate, to the attempts at running away, clinging to a last straw of life—Kailen Darkhaven had staged everything, to feed her confidence. To make believe she was enjoying the chase of hunting her prey. All was to lure her into this trap.
Also, he was a runesmith, she recalled.
When he disappeared he had probably made use of some runes to teleport away from the region of the gravitational collapse, and made it look like he had made use of speed to try and escape towards that region.
What she didn't understand was why he had noticed the gravitational collapse and she had not. He definitely had some sort of ability that allowed him to detect the anomaly.
She chuckled.
It all boiled down to the fact that she had underestimated her opponent. She had been overconfident because of the gap in physical strength.
She had been bested.
Kailen Darkhaven had outsmarted her overwhelmingly.
And the most amusing and unsettling part was, she had walked into her own grave yard. He had not even lifted a finger during the whole process.
It was not ironic to say that she had been led into her own graveyard and she had jumped right into it.
Was this how those she always manipulated to their deaths felt like?
"I underestimate you, Darkaven. You are quite amusing."
These were her last words before the gravitational collapse shredded her into ashes.
Kailen observed her calmly as the gravitational collapse dealt with her. There was no reaction to her statements. He just nodded at the outcome of events and left.
He had already taken video footage of her being shredded in the gravitational collapse. He would send that as proof to HQ base 322 that he had completed the mission.
Meanwhile.
A few clusters of star systems away from outpost c34.
A man in a room with a bald head and a handsome face narrowed his eyes slightly.
Suddenly… beep beep.
A feed appeared before him.
A young man with pale white skin, dark hair and enigmatic yet chilly dark eyes stood floating in space.
"Junior sister sent a feed?"
Suddenly he heard a familiar voice.
"I underestimated you, Darkhaven, you are quite amusing."
After that, the signal went off.
"Junior sister is dead? She was killed by Kailen Darkhaven, the guy with the bounty? How the hell is this possible?"
The man stood up as he thought, eyes radiating with chilly killing intent.
"She sent this because this guy is a threat that must be killed. Even when she was dying, senior sister still had the mindset of a tactician. She thought ahead and sent this footage, alongside the coordinates of his possible location. How he managed to kill her does not matter to me. He must die."
His lieutenant was in the room with him.
When he saw the commander radiating extreme killing intent, he shivered.
"Junior sister failed to eliminate the threat, Kailen Darkhaven."
The lieutenant furrowed his brows on hearing the commander's words.
It meant that senior sister Thornwreaker had died.
How was this possible?
Who the hell was this Kailen Darkhaven?
He couldn't even process this.
"Summon the army."
