HDXD: Omni Harem System-Chapter 84: This Woman is Dangerous III
Chapter 84: This Woman is Dangerous III
The air thickened with a damp musk as Adam and Clara pressed forward, deeper into the guts of the cavern.
Adam led the way, flapping his wings forward, mini twin blades ready for action, as he made himself a pair of melee weapons from his own feathers, similar to what he had done for Clara.
Meanwhile, Clara herself began, followed just behind Adam, unnervingly calm. Her heels made no sound as she went along because her feet no longer touched the floor in this moment. She floated in the air, a red energy surrounding her as she was flying off the ground using her natural telekentic abilities as virtue of being a vampire.
Looking back at this, Adam began to start off a conversation with his new servant as he said.
"I see you are adjusting to your vampiric powers just fine... Hmm, how fascinating. I honestly thought it would take you more time before you got used to them."
He commented as he watched his servant keep up with him. Clara, of course, replied as such, her tone still very much flat.
"Well, mon maître... Cecil’s memories...or rather his instincts, even if fragmented, are surprisingly useful in this body, so using his powers is easy. I can feel each of them...steined into my movements, like old habits dressed in new skin."
Said Clara in a monotonic way as she continued by saying.
"...Though I must admit, I’m still struggling to believe that a child like yourself commands such potent necromantic abilities. It’s... unsettling, to say the least, but I am guessing you’re not really human...are you mon maître?"
Adam’s reply to this, of course, was such.
"Not human, Ha? Hehehe... now that’s a good question."
Adam said, laughing menacingly at her assumption. She wasn’t wrong, but she wasn’t right either.
For that reason, he corrected her by replying, saying as such
"Well, to answer your question, my reply would be both yes and no. The truth is, I am more human than anything else in existence. I’m basically the peak of human evolution given form and what humans could be if they weren’t so limited. Biologically speaking? Well, I’m flawless for what I am. In simpler terms... I’m just a maxed-out human being."
He gave a small shrug as he explained to Clara what he was.
"But honestly...if I am being dead honest with you...
Adam stopped as he let his words sink in, and he began to answer.
"At this point, I’ve long surpassed what it means to be a normal human. To most people, I’m no different from the monsters kind they fear, and honestly? With each day that passed, I’m starting to feel more and more like one, too. My body is freakishly built, not exactly what you’d call standard-issue human."
"So yeah, technically I’m still human... but not really. I am basically a new kind of human altogether. If anything, I see myself as part of the monster race, more than I see myself as a part of humanity. So, personally, I identify myself as a monster, in reality I am an anomaly...that is the best answer I can give you."
"Biologically though, compared to normal humans, the gap between me and them would be the same as between them and a Neanderthal."
Admitted Adam. Clara, on the other hand, just floated behind him, her crimson eyes briefly glancing in his direction as he finished speaking.
"I...see."
She said simply, her voice devoid of surprise or judgment.
"Hmmm...
But she was soon knocked out of her silent stupor when she heard Adam hum, and then she sensed it too, no she could feel it, the earth they float above was shaking.
"Do you feel that, Clara?"
Asked Adam, causing Clara to respond.
"... Mmhm. How peculiar. So this is what it feels like... to possess supernatural senses."
She hovered slightly forward, her crimson eyes narrowing.
"I can sense a weird energy in their essence... their cells radiate with monstrous energy. Feral and Undisciplined... hmmm, what is this power, each of the approaching enemy has them, well you too, the natrual energy in your body that is, minus Astrum of course."
Said Clara.
As Adam enlightens her on the topic.
"What you’re sensing is called monster energy...or more accurately, Corruption."
He turned to glance at Clara, smiling gently at her.
As he continued his explanation.
"Every monster-kind has it. The more you have, the stronger you are by nature. It’s basically a supernatural fuel gauge for your abilities, like a stamina bar, but for powers."
"For instance, the amount of Corruption in my body? Easy S-Class. No question. That means my natural biological supernatural abilities are always on...fully active, no cooldowns, no burnout. Everything that comes with being what I am...it just works. Endlessly. That’s what it means to be a Shinso Monster."
"It is also the reason why a Shinso monster’s body will never decay; when you reach perfection, you achieve some sort of immortality in some shape or form. Look at me, for example. I don’t have a healing factor, but you can rip my head off, tear me in half, or blow me to pieces. As long as my heart doesn’t take too much physical damage, I am essentially immortal."
Adam explained as he then gestured towards her and said.
"You, on the other hand? Your natural readings clock in around B-Class. And in case you’re wondering, that’s no joke. B-Class monsters are serious threats. The energy stored in their bodies alone could, in theory, power several large cities for weeks. So yeah, when it comes to stamina for biological abilities in a fight? They can keep going for a long, long time."
"That’s also why regeneration would come so easily to you now. Vampires barely burn any energy when healing, even from something as brutal as being torn apart. The monster energy, your Corruption handles it like it’s nothing."
Clara gave a small nod, taking in Adam’s words with quiet focus. This world of monsters was still foreign to her, but if she was to serve her new king properly, she would need to understand it first and foremost.
From what she gathered, Corruption was basically just a battery for the monster race’s supernatural abilities.
It explained the unnatural vitality she now felt in her body, like fire in her veins, restrained only by will. Her senses were sharp, her limbs weightless, yet there was something else rising within her too...a deep and aching Hunger.
Her eyes flicked to Adam for the briefest of moments. He looked... tempting, given how delicious he seemed to her right now.
But she did not make her instinct take over; rather, she swallowed it down, fighting her urges to drink blood.
Instead, her gaze turned forward as she could sense a large wave of enemies approaching.
The sound of scuttling limbs and clicking mandibles now echoed through the stone. The Antmen had arrived, spilling into the cavern by the thousands, a chittering tide of jagged limbs and armored shells.
Clara said nothing.
She simply floated a little higher, the red aura around her intensifying as her fingers curled tightly around her feathered sword.
Adam, on the other hand, raised his dual swords in hand as well as he sped up, and said.
"Well then, Clara."
He said, his tone almost casual.
"Show me what you can do. From here on out, we kill our way to Nyla."
Adam announced as he sped forward.
And the sound was the first thing come, an unholy wave of skittering claws across ancient stone. Then came the scent: musk and damp earth, thick snd metallic. And finally, from the shadows of the deeper passageways, they surged forward like a tidal wave.
Thousands of Antmen approach.
Adam looked back at Clara and said.
"This would mak good practice for you Clara, you first."
Clara nodded her head in agreement as she flew forward.
"Since they are large in numbers, this would be a good way to dispose of them."
Right after that, she extended her hands forward; although the enemy was many, she alone was enough. Right after... What happened next could only be called a massacre.
Before her eyes, hundreds of Antmen stop their motion halted, their form locked by an invisible force holding them down from every direction possible.
"I see... so this is what it feels like to wield Corruption. I can sense my energy draining, yes...but so faintly, it’s like drawing a single glass of water from a large and deep pool. And this body... it replenishes the loss on its own, naturally, over time. The cost of use, in this case, is almost... inconsequential."
Clara said as she used her telekinesis to raise hundreds of them into the air.
Their bodies jerked, stuck in the air as though strings yanked them backward by the spine. A soon after, a sharp crack filled the space as Clara slowly curled her fingers inward.
Then she made a hard squeezing motion with her hand.
What followed was fast.
Bones buckled inward, exoskeletons folded like paper cups, and that entire front line of Antmen collapsed into itself as they were brutally squished like the bugs they are.
Soon after that, Clara let her hand drop, and the broken heap of bodies hit the ground like trash bags full of wet rocks. Thick and awful smelling blood splattered all over the ground and walls.
Seeing this from behind, Adam let out a low whistle at the sight.
"Well... damn."
But the rest of the swarm didn’t care. More poured in behind the fallen, claws scraping over corpses as they barreled forward
In this moment, it was like they were blind to fear. fгeewebnovёl.com
Soon, Clara’s eyes look at the blood... It smells bad to Adam, but to her, it might as well just be aw sushi.
"Bloood."
She said, holding her throat as great thirst overwhelmed her, her eyes glowing red.
Typically, she felt no emotions after being revived by Adam.
But at this moment, she felt more alive than she had ever felt in her 28 years of living as a human.
However, she was soon knocked out of her stupor, as Adam called out to her from behind. Just floating behind, watching the show play out.
"More incoming, Clara."
