Chapter 98: Confrontations & Confessions

Audrey watched the surprise on Alpha Lake’s face and realized that she wasn’t the only one who had been blown off by the unfolding situation.

"Hey, chipmunk, you’ve grown bigger, and who the hell mated you?" Mark asked protectively.

"That’s enough! Both of you!" Audrey went and grabbed Maria’s arm, dragging her away from Mark and into the living room.

Maria wanted to whine but suddenly realized the situation, she understood that she’d just landed herself into a big problem with Audrey and the Alpha.

She had been carried away and didn’t think about the aftermath. She understood why Audrey would be angry; if it were her, she’d feel angry and betrayed, too.

"Sit!" Audrey pushed Maria down on the sofa and glared at her before turning to Mark who was now standing beside her with a little smile on his lips.

"Hi, Catherine, or, is it Audrey now?" Mark asked, looking at her hair and her face.

Alpha Lake had told him everything on their way to the Packhouse, so he knew that his little Catherine was undercover all this while.

"What the f- hold up!" Audrey raised her hand in front of Mark, stopping him.

She looked behind him to find Alpha Lake leaning beside the closed door. He didn’t look very happy, and she couldn’t tell if it was from the hospital incident or the current situation.

"Audrey, how about you sit and let me ex-"

"Quiet, Maria, I’ll do the talking," Audrey snapped her head to Maria, frowning.

"Calm down, Audrey," Mark went to hold her arm but she stepped away from him.

Audrey went behind the sofa Maria was sitting on and leaned over it with her elbows, linking her fingers together.

"Okay, let’s start," She spread her palms upward, linking her fingers back again.

"Can you repeat what you just called him a few minutes ago?" Audrey tapped Maria’s shoulder, startling her.

Maria gulped loudly, reasons for her mother to disown her just kept piling up and up.

She wasn’t supposed to let such a thing slip from her mouth, but she did, and there she was, about to let out their family secret.

"Well..." She paused, looking at Mark as if she was silently asking for permission.

Mark smiled and nodded at her, he didn’t seem to have a problem with it.

"My Mom is his Mother," Maria blurted out.

Audrey took a second to digest the information; she looked from Mark to Maria, and in that instant, she saw the distinct resemblance between them; they had the same shape of the eyes and nose and the same eye color.

She slowly shook her head at herself not having noticed it all this while.

Her eyes caught Alpha Lake, who was still silently leaning against the wall, and her mind immediately went back to the time they visited Mark’s club; she had heard Mark call Alpha Lake brother.

She would no longer be shocked if they ended up being real brothers.

"Oh, this is refreshing, now I know my cousin has another sibling. Is it just him, or there’s more?" Audrey asked sarcastically.

Maria vigorously shook her head, tapping her leg on the floor anxiously.

"That’s a relief," Audry replied.

She walked out from behind the sofa and went over to Mark, stretching her hand over to him.

Mark raised a questioning brow at her but still shook her hand.

"Nice to meet you, Cousin," Audrey said, smiling mischievously at him.

This time, it was her turn to shock them. She watched as his face morphed into confusion, he tilted his head to the side and stared at Audrey like she was trying to play a prank on him.

From the side eyes, she saw Alpha Lake turn his eyes sharply toward her, but she didn’t look at him. She simply went behind the confused Mark and pushed him toward the sofa, making him sit beside Maria.

"Don’t worry, she’ll tell you how," She turned to Alpha Lake and pointed to the adjacent sofa.

"Why don’t you sit, this is going to be like a family reunion after all, don’t be the ill-tempered sibling," Audrey went to him and dragged him by the arm and made him sit on the adjacent sofa, but before she could move away from him, he suddenly caught her wrist and pulled her down to his lap.

"What do you think doing?" Audrey asked as Alpha Lake comfortably wrapped his arms around her waist.

"Holding my mate," He simply replied, linking his fingers together on top of her thighs.

"Let me g-"

"Maria?" Alpha Lake called.

"Yes, Alpha," Maria replied, her heart beating rapidly in fear.

She was thinking of what she would do if Alpha Lake sent her away from his pack because she had hidden her identity from him.

Would she be able to leave her mate? No.

She sighed, drumming her fingers on her lap.

"How are you related to my mate?" Alpha Lake asked seriously.

He looked at Mark for a brief second with an unreadable expression.

Maria gulped and adjusted in her seat; Mark placed his hand on her fingers that were still drumming her lap, calming her nerves.

"Lake, you’re scaring my little sister," Mark said.

Alpha Lake frowned, "You have no right to speak to me right now," Sounding bitter.

"Calm down, brother," Mark smirked.

"What?!"

"Brother?!"

Audrey and Maria asked at the time.

Audrey instantly sprang up from Alpha Lake’s lap.

"Enough! Everyone Calm the hell down and just answer my Damn questions," Audrey looked confused and lost. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

She walked to the center of the living room, putting a hand on her waist and using the other one to point at Maria.

"Okay, let’s rewind this shit," She spoke assertively.

Maria nodded, ready to cooperate.

"So, you’re his sister?" She asked, still pointing at Maria.

"Yes," Maria replied.

"Awesome," Audrey gave her a thumbs up.

Then, she turned to Mark, "And, you’re his brother?" She asked with a raised brow.

"Yes, Luna," Mark replied with a smile.

"I’m not he’s-you know what... that’s not important now," Audrey almost ran mad at the name Mark just called her at such a confusing moment.

But she had to keep cool and get to the bottom of things once and for all.

"Last but not least, could you tell us how you’re related to him?" Audrey turned to Alpha Lake as she asked the question.

Alpha Lake didn’t reply at once; he kept his eyes locked on her, thinking about what he was going to do to her for lying to him when their visitors left.

"Hey, did you hear me at all?" Audrey waved in front of his face as she saw him staring unblinkingly at her.

She already knew the kind of thoughts in his head but she calmed her wolf down and ignored him. How could he be thinking about sliding his cock into her pussy in such a situation? It turned her on, no doubt, but she wasn’t falling for his trap.

Alpha Lake smirked as he saw the change in expression on her face; he confirmed he wasn’t the only one thinking dirty thoughts.

"Yes, Kitten, I heard you," He smiled handsomely at her.

Audrey quickly removed her eyes from him, not wanting to fall for his darkening eyes.

"He’s the first son of my father," Alpha Lake stated with a shrug.

"What did you say?!" Audrey exchanged an astonished look with Maria.

She slowly stared at Mark who was now staring at her with an unreadable face. He didn’t look pleased and neither did he look unpleased.

"Here’s what; I’m the black sheep of the family. Father had an affair before finding his mate, then discarded me and my mother to go be with his mate," Mark explained indifferently.

For the first time, Audrey saw a glimpse of sadness in Mark’s face. He was an easygoing person, and being able to detect such emotions in him meant that he felt hurt by what happened in the past.

Audrey sighed defeatedly, she was now feeling like a villain who was forcing people to tell her their shameful secrets.

"Hey, It’s okay if you don’t want to talk about it," Audrey said quietly.

"He’s fine," Alpha Lake scoffed.

Marke glared at him, "I’m supposed to be the Alpha," Mark said to Alpha Lake.

"But you’re not," Alpha Lake shrugged.

"I still have the Alpha blood," Mark sat up.

"I’m pure blood," Alpha Lake stated calmly, relaxing back on the sofa.

Audrey and Maria were looking from one person to another, they were very eager to find out where their conversation was leading to.

Mark smirked at Alpha Lake, "You know I can dethrone you, rightfully?" Mark asked with a raised brow.

"You can try," Alpha Lake seemed unbothered.

"You think I can’t defeat you in a challenge?" Mark asked seriously.

"Yes," Alpha Lake smiled easily.

"Why?" Mark continued his questions.

Alpha Lake was more than ready to reply to all his questions, he crossed his legs and turned his face to Mark.

"Because you’re just a half-breed, Mark," Alpha Lake said with a slight shrug, "And, from your revelation about your mother, I can safely say that you’re also a witch...wizard," Alpha Lake said in teasing.

Mark chuckled, "And?"

"And witches or wizards with no pure bloodline are not allowed to rule a pack, which is why Father never brought you home," Alpha Lake said seriously, but he was just teasing Mark about being a wizard. He’d known him his whole life, and he had never seen him do any wizard tricks nor scented it on him.

Mark slowly nodded, "You’re right,"

Everyone, except Maria, turned to Mark with a questioning stare.

Audrey was the first to talk; she wanted to confirm if Mark was agreeing to not fight for the Alpha position, or if he was agreeing to being a wizard; it better be the first one. She’s had enough surprises for the day.

"He’s right about what exactly?" Audrey questioned cautiously.

"This," Mark snapped his fingers and to everyone’s surprise, he disappeared from the sofa and instantly appeared in front of Audrey.

Audrey stared wide-eyed at him, he was really a fucking wizard with mini teleporting abilities!

"Oh, come on now!!!" Audrey screamed, exasperated
