Chapter 121: Dining with the enemies

Audrey was sitting in a living room with Lisa by her side.

"Your room is ready, my dear," Malachi said as he came out from a passage.

Audrey nodded, she hadn’t really said anything to him since she arrived.

She stood and held Lisa’s hand. She knew Malachi wasn’t happy about Lisa being in his house, but he didn’t comment about it; he didn’t want anything that would create friction in their already strained relationship.

"You can freshen up and come down for dinner," He informed her as she went into the passage to her room.

Audrey gave him a slight nod and walked ahead.

"You can freshen up first, you need it better," Audrey said to Lisa as she dropped her bag on top of the bed.

"Okay," Lisa replied and went into the bathroom.

Audrey sat on the bed and sighed. She didn’t like it here; everything was just so gloomy and dark; her spirit wasn’t aligning with the vibes the Death Claw Pack was giving off.

Dark magic was hanging everywhere in the air, and the environment was very depressing.

She couldn’t wait to leave already. But, before she left, she had some things to take care of.

She picked up her phone and sent Alpha Lake and Miranda a text, telling them she’d arrived safely, well, as safe as it could be.

Audrey had a quick shower and changed her clothes to comfy shorts and a crop top. She wasn’t sleepy at all, she wanted to explore the place and discover things, but at the same time, she knew that being too forward would raise suspicion from Malachi.

"Come on, let’s go eat," She said to Lisa.

"No, I’ll just go to sleep," Lisa refused.

She was scared enough already by staying inside Malachi’s house, but dining with him?! No way!

Audrey sighed and went over to the bed to drag Lisa out.

"Come on, aren’t you famished?" Audrey asked.

Just at that moment, Lisa’s tummy growled aggressively.

Audrey chuckled, "There’s my answer, come on. Don’t worry, he won’t do anything," She leaned down and put her hand beside her mouth to whisper something to Lisa, "He’s still trying to win me over," She said, winking at Lisa.

Lisa bit her lips and slowly nodded.

She followed Audrey behind as they walked out of the room and toward the dining.

"Oh no!" Lisa suddenly held Audrey’s shirt behind her, pausing her steps.

Audrey, who was busy on her phone as she walked, felt the pull behind her and turned to Lisa.

"What’s the problem?" She questioned with a worried frown.

"It’s her, the witch," Lisa whispered, frightened.

Audrey focused on her environment and that’s when she noticed the presence of her sister, Elena.

It wasn’t she who hadn’t noticed her presence from the moment she arrived, but this time, it was so close and so dark.

She smiled to herself as she said to Lisa, "Don’t worry, she’s harmless," Audrey said, knowing that her sister would hear her very well.

She led Lisa to the dining table and brought out a chair for her to sit, feeling the dark and piercing gaze of her sister on her side.

"Is everything to your liking?" Malachi walked into the dining and brought out a chair for Audrey to sit beside him.

Audrey didn’t object; she obediently lowered herself onto the chair, "Thank you. Yes, the food looks appetizing," She said.

"Great, let me know if you want something different," He said excitedly.

Audrey nodded.

"Alpha, we need to talk," Elena spoke up, looking directly at Malachi.

She didn’t show it, but she wasn’t comfortable with Audrey’s unexpected arrival. She naturally felt intimidated and threatened by her presence. But she knew Malachi wasn’t going to listen to her on that, and she couldn’t possibly attack her in front of him.

So, she was going to use the Omega as an excuse.

"Oh, yes, Elena. This is my daughter, Audrey, Audrey, this is our Pack’s witch, Elena," Malachi said as he put food on Audrey’s plate.

Audrey could see Elena clenching her fists under the table, she sure didn’t like the way Malachi introduced her.

"Oh, I thought she was your mate, or wife...or even, a mistress," Audrey said innocently, knowing she was striking a nerve.

"No, dear. She can’t be my mate. She’s not our kind," Malachi said with a smile.

"Oh," Audrey chuckled, helping Lisa with food.

"Alpha, the Omega is not supposed to be here," Elena said angrily, glaring at Lisa.

Malachi immediately looked toward Audrey, checking to see if she was offended by what Elena said. He had chosen to ignore the Omega female since his daughter brought her along; he never wanted anything that would change Audrey’s mind to go back to the Grey Blood Pack.

He felt so much power in her, and he knew it was way greater than Elena’s magic; he already imagined all he could achieve with Audrey obediently by his side. He would have no use for Elena anymore.

Malachi sighed and stared at Elena, "And so are not supposed to be here, too," He casually replied and brought his glass to his lips, sipping it lightly.

"What do you mean, Alpha?" Elena asked, frowning and looking at Audrey murderously.

This wasn’t what she had expected their first encounter to be at all. It pissed her off.

"I mean, Elena; This table should be for family alone. You’re not family, and not even a wolf, so according to status, the Omega has more right to sit here than you do. So, quit causing trouble and eat," Malachi said.

Elena’s white face was red with anger. She felt like cutting Audrey’s throat with the table knife and ending the war before it even started. She’d never felt so humiliated her whole life, in front of a useless Omega too!

"Oh, Father, don’t be too harsh on her, she was just being caring, right, Elena?" Audrey asked as she turned to her.

For the first time since their reincarnation, Audrey called her name and looked into her eyes. Even though Elena had reincarnated before her and was now older, she still felt like her elder sister, and for a second, as she stared at her, she felt sympathy for her.

She didn’t want this kind of life for her sister, and that was why she never wanted to teach her magic, but Elena had gone ahead and stole her magic book, and from then on, everything changed about her.

"I’m done!" Elena angrily sprang up from her chair and left the dining.

"Don’t mind her, dear. She’s a bit dramatic sometimes," Malachi said, smiling.

Lisa was shocked and left speechless. Never had she heard or seen their Alpha disagree or disregard the witch.

Everyone in the Pack knew they were each other’s evil companion. One couldn’t exist without the other. But just now, he so easily dismissed her, even went ahead to say that she had more right to sit on the table with him than the witch.

She turned and stared at Audrey; just how powerful was she to make Malachi act the way he did?

"Thank you, Alpha," Lisa bowed her head as they left the dining, thanking him for the food, but Malachi ignored her and walked over to Audrey in front.

"Dear, can I have a little chat with you?" He asked cautiously.

"Sure. I’m sure we both have a lot of cashing up to do," Audrey replied.

As they reached the living room, she saw Lisa standing in the corner, looking all tired and sleepy. She knew the girl wanted to wait for her, but she wouldn’t let her.

She needed all the rest she could get.

"Lisa, you can go to bed first," Audrey told her.

Lisa wanted to say that she would wait, but she knew she had to give them some privacy to chat, and she needed the rest, too. She nodded at Audrey and left the room.

"Goodnight," She said as she walked past Audrey.

Audrey and Malachi were quiet for a while before Malachi decided to break the silence.

"I’ll start by apologizing for all my years of absence in your life. I know it can’t be recovered, but I believe we can achieve great things if we just stick together," Malachi said, anxiously tapping his feet on the floor.

Audrey scoffed internally but gave Malachi a soft smile and a nod.

Typical evil man, already talking about what they would achieve together if they worked together. He was so eager to use her powers for his evil acts.

"It’s alright, Father. That’s why I decided to come home, I want to recover our lost time and also have someone take care of me for the first time in my life," Audrey lied smoothly.

Malachi was beaming with a satisfied smile. He’s got what he wanted.

"But, your mate..." He trailed off, wanting to know if she still planned to return to Alpha Lake at some point.

"We’ve not marked, I’m planning to reject him," She lied again.

"That’s awesome, for there are things I’d like you to know about him," Malachi said seriously.

"Really?" Audrey asked with fake interest.

"Yes, my dear, he’s not what you think he is," Malachi replied, seeing this as the opportunity to gain Audrey’s absolute trust.

"Oh? Is he an evil person?" Audrey asked, frowning.

Malachi nodded, "Yes, he was the one who killed your mother," Malachi said with an evil glint in his eyes.

He wanted to use Audrey and eliminate his biggest enemy, Alpha Lake. And he knew just the thing to say.

"It’s a pity he got to be your mate after murdering your mother in cold blood," He said maliciously.
