Chapter 113: The Dark Alter

Death Claw Pack...

Elena was standing with her back to the three girls as she mixed a dark green potion in a small vail, dark smoke rising from the potion she was mixing.

Cara noticed this and looked at her friends in apprehension. Grace quietly patted Cara’s thigh in a silent comfort.

Janeth remained expressionless, but the way she played around with her fingers was evidence of her nervousness.

Elena finished and slowly turned to them, the potion in her hand.

"Are you sure you want to join my Coven?" Elena asked, staring at them one after the other.

The girls exchanged a look and nodded simultaneously, "We’re ready." They replied uniformly.

Elena stared at them for a long time, the ominous silent stretching and causing discomfort between the girls.

"Follow me," Elena said and walked toward the door.

The three girls apprehensively stood from their stool, trailing behind the witch.

They followed her back out to the passage they had come in and emerged behind the Packhouse again. The girls heard the rustling chain from the cage-like prison again, creating goosebumps all over their bodies.

"You might want to watch your steps," Elena said indifferently as she led them around the prison.

Grace looked down and audibly gasped at what she saw, "Oh my!"

Her gasp alerted others, and as they looked down, their souls left their bodies as they saw numerous human heads sticking out from the ground, some rotten, some fresh.

"Oh goodness," Cara covers her mouth with her palm in disgust, biting down on her teeth to keep down her regurgitation.

They quickly fastened their footsteps and walked up to Elena. Their minds reeled with different scenes of how those people ended up buried alive and what their crimes were.

The Death Claw Pack was something else entirely, dark and evil. They feared for themselves, hoping the moon goddess would protect them throughout this journey.

"Don’t worry, they were traitors. It won’t happen to any of you...if you don’t betray me, of course," Elena said as she sensed their fear.

Hearing her words, their fears were personally intensified to a greater height.

’If they don’t betray her?’ But they were already betraying her; what if she found out? How long could they keep up their masks?

"Come forward," Elena beckoned on them from a high gothic alter.

The girls looked around and discovered that they’d gone quite far from the cage-like prison. But they were both shocked to find a witch’s alter behind the prison.

They heard Elena beckon them to climb the stairs and meet her in front of the altar, which had a huge sculpture of a black raven.

"Let’s go," Janeth said and was the first person to start climbing the stairs.

Cara and Grace reluctantly followed suit, staring at the human skulls that lined the sides of the stairs with a red candle burning inside them.

They stooped as they reached the top of the stairs, standing in front of the raven sculpture and Elena, their eyes roamed around the alter, noticing the dark and scary decorations of skulls, garlic, skull amulets, a weird sculptures of different demonic faces, and the numerous human bones that were placed inside the bowl that sat in front of the raven’s sculpture.

Elena gently placed the potion on top of the slab in front of the altar and slowly turned to them.

"Who shall be the first? Come forward," Elena stretched out her hand to the girls, waiting for the brave one that take the first step.

Janeth and Grace watched with shock, and Cara bravely walked toward her, placing her hands on Elena’s.

"Good," Elena said and drew her closer to the slab.

"Now, repeat after me," Elena said with a scary tone.

Cara gulped and nodded, readying herself for the worse.

Elena brought Cara’s wrist, placed it over the potion in the vial, and said, "I, Cara,"

Cara gulped loudly and repeated, "I Cara,"

"Swear with my blood and commit with my soul," Elana said, waiting for Cara to repeat then continued after she heard Cara’s oath.

"To bond my life entirely with the dark forces in total submission to their ultimate control," Elena said.

Cara’s heart was beating rapidly as she heard the dark words from Elena’s mouth; she hesitated a little but eventually said it. It made no difference if she said it or not; she would die if she refused to say the oaths and would still die along the line if she took the oath. So, there was really no difference for her.

But, she hoped to find redemption in the long run.

"Ashh!" Cara groaned in pain as she suddenly felt Elena’s sharp nail tear her wrist without warning.

She looked down and saw her blood dripping into the vial of potion and noticed how the potion swirled on its own inside the vial.

She asked Cara to step aside, making way for Janeth and Grace. After they completed the same initiation as Cara, Elena smiled evilly and sliced her own wrist with her sharp nails, dripping her blood into the vial.

"Now, take a sip," Elena pointed at the potion.

Cara felt like her throat was constricting, uncomfortable at Elena’s instruction.

How were they supposed to drink that dirty and gooey liquid? Or, was Elena trying to kill them because she’s found them out?

"It’s too late to hesitate, my dear girls," Elena lifted the potion and handed it to Grace, who stood closer to her.

With shaky hands, Grace took the potion from Elena’s hand and brought it closer to her lips, the pungent and repulsive smell attacked her nose, making her gag in reflex.

She closed her eyes and tilted her head back, gulping a mouthful of the fowl-tasting potion, smacking her lips in irritation. Grace turned to her side and quickly handed the potion to Cara.

Cara pinched her nose and gulped down her portion, handing it over to Janeth.

Janeth stared emotionless at the liquid for some time, then slowly raised her hand to her mouth and took a long sip, her face remained passive as she did.

"Good," Elena smiled and took the remaining potion from Janeth.

She walked around them and emptied the remaining content into the bone-filled bowl in front of the raven’s sculpture.

The girls marveled as dark, angry smoke suddenly rose from the bowl, a sizzling sound feeling the air as the bones suddenly turned into dust, followed by a mighty gust of wind that came and scattered the dust all around the altar.

Amidst the mighty wind, Elena spoke loudly, "Congratulations, your souls are now familiar with eternal darkness,"

Just as she finished speaking, the girls felt a loud ring inside their heads, staggering and trying to use each other as support. Their visions turned blurry, and they started to hear different voices inside their head.

"Don’t fight it, let it possess you entirely," Elena said and slowly walked down the alter, leaving the staggering girls behind. When she reached the bottom of the stairs, she turned at the same time as when the girls fell to the ground, submitting to the darkness that now painted their souls.

Inside the Packhouse of the Death Claw Pack, Elena was being summoned by Malachi to his study.

She entered the room to find an angry-looking man walking back and forth in front of his desk.

"You summoned me, dear?" She asked in a sweet voice.

Malachi paced a little longer before stopping to face the witch in his study.

"You failed! two times!" Malachi showed his two fingers for emphasis.

Elena frowned, she didn’t understand what he was talking about. She hated it whenever he shouted at her; all these years, she’d been trying her best to win his love, but he never really took her seriously, even after all she’d done for him. He had never for once truly appreciated her, and it got on her last nerve, knowing he didn’t want her as his Luna but as someone he could fuck whenever he needed his beastly release.

"Alpha, I do not understand a word you say," She said quietly, not wanting to upset him more.

Malachi huffed, clenching his fists angrily beside him.

"You lied to me nineteen years ago; you said she was dead, and two years after that, you said the same thing!" Malachi’s face was red with anger.

Elena couldn’t believe what she heard, she instantly understood what was talking about.

Nineteen years ago, she had lied to him when she captured Audrey’s mother, Isabella, that the baby was dead because she failed to abduct the baby too, and two years after that she had managed to seduce Malachi and conceived his child, but when she gave birth to the child and felt no dark magic within her, she became annoyed and didn’t want Malachi to be disappointed in her for giving birth to a baby that would not turn beneficial for them, so, she had to exchange the baby with a dead one, showing him the dead baby as a proof that their child was indeed dead.

But now, how did he find out about them? Where did he find them? And even if he did find them, he wouldn’t be this worried about her lies if he never sensed something strong within them.

The possibility that her sister might have recovered her powers shook her on her feet, and for the first time since her reincarnation, she felt threatened.

"I’m bringing them back home; they belong by my side," Malachi said firmly and walked out of the room.

Elena’s face twisted in an ugly manner as she angrily clenched her fists. Not again, she wouldn’t let this happen this time, her sister must never defeat her again, both in power and preference by people.

She would make sure she crushes her beyond reincarnation this time.
