Chapter 109: Traitors?

Death Claw Pack...

"State your business," A guard asked the three girls standing in front of the Death Claw Packhouse.

Janeth was the one to speak, "I have an unfinished business with your master’s mistress," She said bodly.

The guard stared at the girls one after the other before nodding shortly. He knew he couldn’t deny them entrance because he knew that the mistress have been having over many people visit her just so she could turn them to dark witches, he believed these people were no different.

"Follow me," The guard told them and started walking behind the Packhouse.

Cara and Grace shared a scared look, slowly following Janeth and the guard behind. They whole pack gave them the creeps, everyone they’ve seen looked like there was an evil and ugly shadow looming over their heads, they all looked caged.

They feared from imagining what type of leadership the people of the Death Claw Pack must be facing from the hands of their Alpha, Malachi.

As they reached the back of the Packhouse, the girls breath hitched on their throat as they saw the half-rotten decapitated heads of men and women hanging on the stake on top of the large cage-like prison.

They couldn’t help but let their minds reel with horrific questions. Who were these people? What had they done to deserve such a cruel fate? And who was responsible for such a brutal display.

As they walked closer, Cara coughed as she felt choked up with the air that was starting to get heavy with the stench of death and decay.

The three girls exchanged nervous glances, their pulse racing rapidly, they could feel the weight of the prison’s dark history bearing down upon them, and they only prayed that they don’t end up becoming one of the heads up on the stakes.

"Know this, if you lied about having an unfinished business with her, your heads shall be added to those collections," The guard warned them in a dreadful tone, and pointed his finger behind them to the cag-like prison.

Tears were already falling from Grace’s eyes but Cara quickly wiped it off her face, gently patting her back to calm her down. They had to keep their emotions in check before they met with Elena, if not, their lies would be spotted immediately.

"You don’t want to keep her waiting, do you?" Janeth asked the huge guard.

He regarded her with reluctant narrowed eyes before he slowly unlocked the wooden door behind the Packhouse and pushed it open.

"Enter, you know where to find her," The guard said and left the girls alone.

"We have to be careful, Elena is not easily fooled, like he said, if we don’t want our heads decorated up there, you both have to lock up those stupid emotions and get your acts together," Janeth said in a serious tone.

Cara and Grace nodded vigorously, and each tried their best to look as unbothered as possible.

Janeth nodded approvingly and proceeded to walk through the door.

Cara was the last to enter, and before she did, she heard a faint rustling noise echo from the cage-like prison, she hurried and followed the girls behind, not wanting to stay and find out what caused the noise.

"This way," Janeth was standing at the center of two paths in the passage waiting for Cara to catch up, when she saw they were all together, she walked toward the left path, grabbing a torch off the wall to light their way.

"Does she have to hide this far?" Grace whispered as they kept walking along the passageway.

"Shh, she might hear you," Cara whispered back with a finger against her lips.

Janeth sighed and shook her head, they were definitely going to get killed with these two morons beside her.

"Who are these you’ve brought?"

"Argh!"

"Mummy!!"

"Oh fuck!"

The three girls startled and exclaimed as they suddenly heard a woman’s voice behind them.

Cara was the most scared as she was the one behind the line, her body was visibly shaking as she slowly turned around to see who had suddenly appeared behind them.

"J-Janeth... is she..." Cara trialed off as she saw the very fair woman with long black hair and a gothic makeup. She felt her nerve ends turning cold and dying away.

Janeth willed her heart to calm down as she stared at Elena, she sighed quietly and walked back to meet her.

"Yes, Cara. It is her. Greetings, Elena," Janeth spoke with respect.

Elena had a small frown on her face as she stared at Janeth.

"You’re not supposed to be like this though, what happened?" She asked in a sharp voice, slowly walking around Janeth, catching her hair as she reached behind her and letting them fall off her fingers on its own.

She examined Janeth and stopped in front of her.

"I sense no magic on you. Who or what changed you?" Elena’s tone was sharp as she stared threateningly into Janeth’s eyes.

Janeth clenched her fists beside her but her face remained calm and collected.

"You know no one rivals you, Elena. The spell wore off on its own, and I had to go into hiding to hide myself from people’s prying eyes as I’ve already been banished from the pack," Janeth sounded so calm and convincing.

Seeing the glow on Elena’s face from her praise, she released the breath she was holding. This was a good start, they were safe, for now.

"But, who are these? You’ve brought spies?" Elena asked, moving past Janeth to examine Cara and Grace who were now standing beside each other.

They held their breath as they saw Elena approach them, she looked like someone who would manually rip your heart out just because she doesn’t like your face.

But they maintained their composure, looking as calm and as innocent as possible.

Janeth quickly thought of what say, "They’re not spies, they’re-"

"We’re your admirers," Cara quickly said.

"Yes, we saw what you did with Janeth and was marveled by your abilities, we want nothing more than to become your underlings and work with you, and for you," Grace found herself say.

Elena stepped back from them, intently observing them, she could sense their fear, but that was normal, anyone who was around her was bound to be scared, she loved feeling people’s fear.

Hearing them talk about becoming her underlings removed every doubt from her head, if they were spies, they wouldn’t be stupid enough to enter her lair and seek her out when they knew they had no protection or whatsoever, but one thing still made her hesitate.

"Tell me," she put her hand under Cara’s chin and brought her face up to hers, giving her a bone-chilling smile,"How did you escape?" She asked.

She knew the Grey Blood Pack wasn’t a pack three unskilled wanted girls could easily walk out from, with how heavily guarded the place was, it was either they got help from an inner member, or they were purposely sent here on a mission.

"We offered our body to the guards, they took turns fucking us, and that is the more reason why we want to become stronger and kill that bitch who still lives with the Alpha," Janeth replied.

She didn’t trust the answer Cara would give, that’s why she decided to come up with a believable lie.

"Audrey is her name?" Elena instantly turned at the mention of Audrey’s name. So that was her name now.

She had seen her reincarnated sister only once, but she hadn’t felt any power from her, and she believed she had no memories of her past in her current body.

She had attacked the Grey Blood Pack with forcefully turned dark witches because she had sent them to search for her sister’s amulet for her.

She could still remember that Alpha Lake was the same man as her sister’s husband and mate centuries ago, she believed that the garden which her sister had died was still in the same location, which was now known as the Grey Blood Pack, but one thing confused her, after se ding multiple spies, none of them agreed on seeing any garden in the Grey Blood Pack, and she knew, that her sister’s powers were still protecting it.

She waved her hands in front of the wall, making a door appear beside them.

Janeth’s eyes widened in realization, no wonder she’s been walking in circles, the witch had used a spell to hide her lair, that meant that they would have kept walking in circles until they passed out.

"Enter," She said to the girla and walked into the dark room.

Janeth followed her behind, with Cara and Grace tagging behind her.

The pungent smell of chemicals, flowers, potions and weird concussion of herbs filled the air as they walked into the dimly-lit room.

Two long tables were adjacent to each other and a smaller table filled with different grim-colored liquid was placed at the edge of the room.

Elena knew that it would be almost impossible to defeat her sister if she ever finds that amulet before her. She only hoped that the memories of her past life will remain buried deep within her body, never to be unlocked.

Then, she had to act fast, maybe, just maybe, these new recruited underlings will come in handy after all.

"This Audrey... does she display any form of supernatural power?" Elena asked.

The three girls secretly exchanged looks, all sharing the same thought, they didn’t have to obey Audrey’s every word, maybe...they could finally get her killed by exposing her to the enemy...

Maybe...
