Chapter 72: 72. The Angel, Diana

Having drifted off to sleep, Isaac rolled on the bed and snored too comfortably. It was expected given how tired he was from the long journey plus the work of moving the items he had brought with him. If the ladies hadn’t offered to help him then he would have been much more tired than this.

First, he was relaxing with his back laid on the bed as he reminisced about his days as the manager of the inn and the next minute he was in a serious fight with sleep.

A fight that he lost eventually and quite easily at that.

He continued to turn and turn, his face immensely wet with sweat to the extent of soaking the sheets of the bed he lay on.

Isaac muttered incomprehensible words. Anyone who saw him as he turned would immediately know that he was having a nightmare.

Isaac was struggling to save himself.

The young man had found himself in the dream world, living the life of a sailor whose ship met the worst of storms and now both him, his crew and his ship danced to the tune of the unruly waves of the sea.

They shouted and cried out for help but where was help going to come in the middle of the sea?

Certainly, nowhere.

All hope was lost.

Worse off, it was dark. Isaac felt the tight choke of death around his neck and even as he tried to lead his crew to safety, the storm made sure to lock them in, leaving them with no chance of escape at all.

Many of those aboard the ship started to fall over into the raging sea as the strength of the storm increased, easily lifting and hurling a grown man away like he was a pebble.

"Anchor yourselves!" Isaac yelled out into the violent wind, his voice trying its best to reach its crew members.

Those who heard him searched and found somewhere to hold on to or tie themselves to the ship.

Isaac, on his end, tied a thick rope around his waist, anchoring himself to the ship.

The torment continued, getting worse with each second that passed and suddenly, blue light flashed down from the sky.

A sound followed that cracked through the sky and the clouds parted, ushering down lightning that struck at the sail of their ship, striking down to the bottom of the ship itself and splitting in two.

SPLOOSH!

Despite trying their best to stay on board, the single lightning strike sent all of them plummeting into the dangerous sea below. It became a crazy swim for their survival.

For Isaac, his survival was made twice as difficult as the rope that he tied around his waist was still tied around his waist and remained anchored to the ship while it sank, pulling him deeper into the dark depths of the water.

Isaac struggled incessantly but he couldn’t be free of the rope as it gradually pulled him down. His eyes bulged and turned red underwater as he continued to sink. He was running out of air and needed help immediately but nothing was coming his way.

He struggled until he was too weak to fight the sea all by himself and he drowned. In this dire moment, a slender, pale hand with two plain, gold bracelets around its wrist reached into the depths of the sea.

This saving hand reached for Isaac’s hand as he was drowning and held him tightly, pulling him up and towards the surface. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

Isaac was drifting into unconsciousness as he struggled to make out who his saviour was. As his near-lifeless body approached the surface, Isaac felt some degree of light shining into his prominently squinted eyes.

He could see the figure, albeit blurry and in a moment, the slender hand with skin like milk, that pulled to the surface from the seabed, also pulled out entirely from the sea.

Isaac felt life return to him as his body abandoned the sea and entered yet another realm that he didn’t understand.

BUUEEHH!

He spewed a large volume of water and started to cough, clearing his airway. His once shallow breathing started to normalise. Having been focused on regaining his calm, Isaac hadn’t realised where he was.

When his cough stopped, the young man finally raised his head to see that he was a colourful world, that was nothing like he had ever seen. Words failed him in describing what his eyes beheld.

"Woah!" he muttered with a dropped jaw, fawning at the beautiful sight.

"What is this place?" he wondered as he looked around, his body brushing against the many varieties of beautiful, colourful flowers that surrounded him.

A second ago, Isaac was drowning to death under the darkness of the sea’s depth without any hope of living beyond that incident. A second later, he found himself inside a beautiful garden of flowers and fruitful trees that bore many types of fruits.

"This place is beautiful."

The young man began to feel the flowers around him. He smelled a few of them and played with their petals, hurling them into the air while they floated freely and danced in the wind.

Isaac chuckled, forgetting his near-death experience in a wink.

"Hello there, Isaac Winters," a feminine voice greeted him from behind.

Shocked by the sudden voice, Isaac turned around and moved away from the strange figure that had entered the garden.

"Who are you?" he asked, looking at the woman from head to toe.

She was tall, a bit taller than Isaac was, with long lightly coloured hair that stopped just below her breasts. She wore a silvern armour that radiated light mildly and showed a bit of her cleavage. Her skin was flawless and her countenance was one to be admired.

She was indeed a beautiful woman. However, she didn’t seem like a normal woman, given her outfit was akin to a warrior’s as well the white wings on her back that dropped feathers every now and then.

Isaac stepped back again a few steps to give himself some distance from the stranger.

The woman walked forward, taking the same number of steps that Isaac took away from her to close the gap.

"I’ve come to warn you about something. Something that you hold quite dear," she said.

With a finger placed under Isaac’s chin, she lifted his face and looked him in the eyes.

"I know that you do not know who I am. My name is Diana," she revealed.

"And I’m what you can call... an angel."
