Harem of the Demon: Gathering Beauties in a Magic World-Chapter 69. Isaac Winters
Chapter 69: 69. Isaac Winters
"Hmm," Mister Kim breathed while leaning back on his chair.
"What makes you think that I will know such a person?" he asked.
Aaron let out a short chuckle. "You and I know that you know something, Mister Kim. I don’t know what loyalty you owed to him in the past but remember now that I hold your present. Might as well let it be known what the manager does with the staff of this inn."
Mister Kim’s face turned stern, his eyes shooting an unfriendly glare towards Aaron.
Aaron noticed the change on the manager’s face and smirked. "Seems like we have a deal then," he said, extending his hand for a shake.
Mister Kim stood and shook his hand before sitting back down.
"What’s your business with Isaac?"
"Isaac Winters is my father," Aaron stated. "Now, you see why I would want to know about him."
Mister Kim exhaled, rolling from side to side on his chair with his fingers interlocked and placed just above his nose.
The manager was sceptical and unwilling to say anything worthwhile to Aaron. Aaron breathed out heavily and stared daggers at Mister Kim.
"You leave me no choice, Mister Kim," Aaron remarked, his eyes changing colour into a golden one.
At the same time, Mister Kim’s eyes did the same thing and took up a golden colour.
The manager sat up and stiffened in that posture as he began to speak.
"So you’re the one," he said. "You’re the child he was always wary of birthing. Anyways, my condolences, I heard that he is late now. It’s really sad what happened to him."
In just a few seconds, Mister Kim had divulged quite a number of clues. Aaron said nothing and began to count the clues from Mister Kim’s words one after the other.
’The child Isaac was wary of birthing.’
’There’s a possibility that he also knows how Isaac died since Alicia never mentioned it. But it would be quite bizarre to ask him how ’my father’ died after claiming to be his son. Tch. I’ll have to find that out somehow.’
Aaron advanced forward a little bit. "What do you mean that I am the child that he was wary of birthing?"
Mister Kim looked past Aaron, towards the door of his office, ensuring that no one was close by. He stood up and shut the curtains behind him, leaving Aaron more puzzled with his strange behaviour.
"Your father, Isaac, was crazy," Mister Kim remarked. "Forgive me. I know he is your father and that is why I’m talking to you, but even at that, I must also tell you the whole truth."
Aaron rolled his eyes in disbelief.
’Yeah... right. Not because I know your secret, huh nor because I’m compelling you to,’ he sarcastically replied Mister Kim inside his head.
Aaron maintained a calm pose, arching his brows to egg Mister Kim on. He paid close attention to what the manager was saying since the chubby man had some information that may have been different from what he got from his mother’s memories.
"Crazy?" he responded to the manager.
Mister Kim bobbed his head. "Yes. He was always babbling nonsense about spirits and winged creatures talking to him."
Aaron folded his right hand into a fist.
’The Angels,’ he reflected upon the manager’s words. ’They are the only ones that fit this description."
"What do you mean by winged creatures?"
Manager Kim hesitated, almost as if he was refusing to answer the question. However, it was simply because it didn’t make sense to him. He never understood what Isaac’s words entailed back then, neither did he now.
"I have no idea really," he finally answered.
Aaron rubbed his chin and considered what he had heard so far.
"Tell me everything you know about my father, Mister Kim."
Like a mindless beast who has lost control over itself, Mister Kim gaped straight at his guest, his eyes still gold coloured. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
"Okay," he answered blankly.
"I know...no," the manager paused and shook his head. "I knew your father very well in the past. In fact, I dare to say that we were close friends at some point since we grew up together. Isaac used to be quite the cheerful dude. Tall, buffed and handsome. He was the one always getting and changing the ladies like they were clothes. A smooth talker and a good person but everything changed after he met your mother, Alicia. At least that was when I started to notice."
Aaron, hearing his mother’s name, started to wonder what her role was in his father’s change in behaviour.
"What do you mean?"
Manager Kim breathed out and continued. "One fateful day, Isaac comes around and tells me that he has found someone he likes and to be honest, the news was quite unbelievable, hehehe. The Isaac that I knew was a renowned playboy and worse off, he was the one who occupied this seat before me."
Aaron perked up. "Isa—dad was a manager here?"
A slight nod of Mister Kim’s head affirmed Aaron’s question. "He was. That was the era when the inn was renamed into the Inn of 1000 Pleasures."
Aaron laughed. He was satisfied with what he had heard so far.
’Isaac was really the man, huh? Seems this body inherited more of his genes then. Very good. Splendid!’ he reflected.
"However, with Alicia, Isaac struggled. Much to his surprise, Alicia resisted his charm. Isaac tried so hard to impress her but your mother, Alicia, was different. His words and smoothness didn’t work but eventually, he succeeded. They got married right inside this inn and Isaac went ahead to join her in Bambara village, hoping to get away from here, gain a fresh start and raise his family there."
The manager clenched his fist and gritted his teeth as his face turned red.
BANG!
BANG!
Mister Kim slammed his fists on the table twice. "That’s how it should have been. They should have lived happily ever after. If Isaac hadn’t lost his mind, maybe he would still be alive to see you right now. Maybe the three of us may even go for a drink."
Looking at the manager closely, Aaron noticed that his eyes had this glint that only tears could grant.
"Why then did you call him crazy? It doesn’t seem like they had any issues in their marriage," Aaron pressured further.
"Yes. But that was at first. They were happy until Alicia got pregnant. Isaac was happy that he was going to father a child, and that child, I believe, was you."
