Harem of the Demon: Gathering Beauties in a Magic World-Chapter 58. A Better Plan
Chapter 58: 58. A Better Plan
Aaron’s merciless bashing of their supposed well-thought-out and drafted plan threw the entire crew into a frenzy.
"Ehhh!!" the bandits chorused in disbelief while falling back and away from Aaron.
Aaron nodded, asserting his earlier statement and letting them know that he was not bluffing or anything of that sort.
"Yes. It’s a stupid plan," he reiterated before sprinkling little words of apology on it. "No offence to whoever it was that came up with it."
Meanwhile, Souzane and Whisper had their blood already boiling in their veins with how their skin turned red from simmering anger. Whisper hid his clenched fists at his back. Souzane, on the other hand, forced a wry smile onto her face as she looked at Aaron when she and Whisper truly wanted one thing at that moment. And that was to beat Aaron Winters to a pulp.
"So any ideas... pretty boy?" she asked with a contorted look on her face and a threatening undertone in her voice.
Aaron sighed and rolled up the scroll, handing it back to her. The gang looked at him and he looked back at them, turning around to be sure he accounted for every member of Souzane’s crew present.
"28? Excluding myself," he thought to himself, supporting his chin with his right flexed hand.
He raised his head and fixed his eyes on Whisper and Souzane who were standing side by side and not so far away from each other.
"Is this everyone?" he asked.
Whisper turned to Souzane to answer as is rightly so since she was the leader. Regardless, she was also the best person to answer the question. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
"That will be going to Herb village? Yes. That’s everyone," Souzane answered.
"So we are not expecting anyone else then?" Aaron inquired further.
Souzane shook her head, repudiating Aaron’s input. "No. No one. Not until we get to the Herb village anyways."
"Hmm."
Aaron thought for a moment before lifting his gaze again. "We’ll have to split up. If we go together as the initial plan suggested, we would be drawing undue attention to ourselves."
As he expected them to, the group murmured at first but as he explained why his plan was the better one and they listened, the murmuring reduced with only a few of them still sceptical about accepting Aaron’s idea.
One of the members of Faction Sceptics was the leader of the bandits herself, Souzane, who also happened to be the brain behind the first plan.
"Why do we have to split up?" she asked, narrowing her eyes at Aaron.
Aaron sucked his teeth. "I already explained that," he retorted.
"Well, pretty face. I am... not... convinced."
Aaron rubbed his forehead and exhaled loudly. He was not in the mood for this meaningless fray for power or the need to show one’s dominance over a group. As he looked at Souzane, he could tell that she felt threatened by his presence in her crew even if his time with them was temporary. That was why she needed to exercise her authority with every opportunity she got. Otherwise, she might lose that power and the crew as well.
Aaron stood up from the ground and dusted his clothes as he walked towards Souzane.
"Let’s say, you have two groups," he started, his voice loud enough to reach even the last person behind.
"Group A is made up of 4 people and Group B is made up of 30 people."
Aaron paused and looked around to see several bandits nodding their heads while listening to his analogy.
"Which would be easier for you to allow entry into your village if you were a village chief?" he asked, spreading his arms out. "It’s simple logic though."
Many bandits bobbed their heads and murmured answers to Aaron’s rhetorical question, which even made him more disappointed as he looked at them.
"How stupid are they?" he wondered.
After a few minutes, Souzane relented and decided to buy his idea. She stepped forward, walking past Aaron and declaring their next plan of action.
"Alright, boys!"
"Yes, boss!" they chorused loudly.
"We will split up into groups and our newest partner here will tell us how to go about it," she said, bringing Aaron forward.
Aaron stood in one position and spoke to them. "We will be leaving for Herb village in four groups of seven members each. The idea is to arrive in a manner that will make them think that we don’t know each other and that way, they will be less suspicious of us. Each group will take a different route to travel. Two groups will go with the fabrics while the other two will go as ordinary travellers. It doesn’t matter when you arrive. However, the only thing that matters is that in a week, we will meet each other at the biggest pub in the Herb village!"
The bandits began to applaud the brilliance of Aaron’s plan of infiltration, even if it didn’t make sense to some.
"Smart!"
"He’s a bright chap!"
"What a smart fella."
Souzane joined in clapping. Even if she detested it, she could deny the fact that his plan of entry into the Herb village was much better than hers.
One of the bandits raised his hand, drawing Aaron’s attention.
"Yes," he said, pointing to the bandit.
The bandit stepped forward from behind the crowd with a plaster across his nose. Seeing him, Aaron thought back. He had met this person before and his hairstyle made that quite obvious. This bandit was one of the three who came to his clinic to demand a ridiculous amount of star shillings.
It was the Mohawk Guy.
Aaron let out a short laugh.
"What are we supposed to be doing for a week?"
Aaron glanced at Souzane, signalling for her to take the stage and she did.
"I don’t care what you do. You can treat it as a short holiday for all I care. You can sleep for a week or shag the best women for a week. Hell, you can even get yourself killed in that week. I don’t care but one thing I will say now is this."
She cleared her throat. "Ahem. Every one of you here must be present at that meeting in one week!"
"Yaayy!" they cheered.
With that, the bandits split into four groups that comprised seven members each, except the group that Aaron joined, before departing for Herb village.
One group was led by Muzane.
Another by Whisper.
Souzane asked that Aaron join her in the journey as a member of her own group.
And the final group was led by the frail-looking member of the crew whose name was Jelly.
With that, all roads led to Herb village.
