Chapter 99: Chapter 99 Blue Flame vs Steel Beasts

Isla Stern - top-tier superstar of Sinovar, a household name.

Right before the world fell apart, she landed in Springvale City to attend a Heart-To-Heart Art Troupe event. Her team included agent, bodyguards, makeup artist, stylist, more than ten people. The agent borrowed a luxury RV from a local tycoon, and they all headed to Greenflow Town.

Then, everything went to hell. Chaos broke loose. The group got trapped in the RV at Greenflow.

Over the next twenty-some days, Isla’s four female bodyguards took over a small market using the RV. They had food - barely. But just last night, a group of rogue troops stormed Greenflow. The luxury RV was a shining target. Thirteen team members - ten died in the attack. Only three bodyguards escaped with Isla.

Now, they were still being hunted. One infantry fighting vehicle, two military jeeps in pursuit. If the soldiers weren’t worried about damaging the RV, Isla and the bodyguards would’ve long been caught.

Magnus saw the RV barreling toward him. He quickly swerved his vehicle aside, activated the Metal Crystal shield, and got out. Three vehicles behind it - an IFV and two jeeps.

He didn’t bring a rifle, only a handgun. No time to run. And there was a convoy behind - if they got caught in the crossfire, people would die.

He pulled the pistol from the holster strapped to his leg, ready for a fight.

The RV was done running. They spotted him ahead and stopped - he didn’t seem cautious of the apocalypse. Maybe - just maybe - he had a team. Maybe he could help.

The RV braked, followed instantly by the three pursuers. Eight uniformed soldiers jumped out. No questions asked - two raised their pistols and fired at Magnus.

But the bullets did nothing. He stood still, untouched.

The eight paused, stunned. Then raised their guns and unloaded a second wave of shots. Same result.

A soldier blinked hard. "Is he... one of those Awakened with a shield?" They’d heard rumors - some rogue soldiers had crossed paths with people like that before.

Magnus didn’t move. Not because he couldn’t - he was thinking. How to deal with the IFV. Best case, get the crew out, finish them all. If he acted too soon, they’d blast his vehicle.

"Hey! You there - who the hell are you?" one soldier barked.

They didn’t dare approach.

Magnus took a breath and started walking toward them. A bold idea forming in his head - not sure if it’d work.

"Stop right there, bastard! One more step and I’ll shoot!"

The eight soldiers were panicked, backing away step by step.

Suddenly, the IFV rotated - and the auto-cannon roared to life, blasting at Magnus.

The force knocked him back several steps - but he stayed standing.

"Hit him! Don’t stop! He can’t hold on anymore!" a soldier shouted.

Magnus didn’t even flinch. In a blink, he leapt onto the roof of the luxury RV. Before the autocannon could react, he jumped again, landing just ahead of eight soldiers.

Afraid of friendly fire, the autocannon held its fire. Magnus used the moment - raised his pistol, fired six clean shots, and downed six men. The last two didn’t even get to react before he flashed forward, knife in hand, and slit both their throats in one smooth motion.

Only the infantry vehicle left now.

Magnus moved fast, appearing at the front of the vehicle. He leaned back against the armored hull, raised his right hand - there, a Nature Crystal formed in his palm. He crushed it. Instantly, the godwood bloomed from his hand, thickening. Then he sparked his lighter and set it ablaze.

Blue fire hissed to life.

Let’s see what this godwood can really do.

Right under the autocannon’s blind spot, practically hugging the front armor, Magnus was untouchable. The vehicle backed up, but he stuck close to the hull, running with it, then slammed the flaming godwood hard against the metal.

The second the blue flames touched steel, they spread like rot. Fire licked fast across the vehicle, covering every inch. Magnus backed off, watching the burn crawl. The vehicle still kept reversing, unaware it was already burning.

Even steel armor couldn’t resist the flames.

This kind of blaze - this wasn’t normal. Within seconds, the armored vehicle exploded in a blast of roaring blue fire.

Magnus stood still, eyes locked on the wreck engulfed in flame.

If this isn’t a dream... if it’s real... then this godwood isn’t just special - it’s unstoppable.

It can burn anything, yet leaves the wielder untouched. This isn’t just a weapon. It’s a divine artifact. The strongest damn weapon out there.

His eyes turned to the RV.

Steeling himself, he stored the godwood. The blue blaze vanished. Threads of green light swirled, drawing back into a Nature Crystal. Magnus tucked it away, then walked toward the luxury RV.

From the outside, it dwarfed any box truck he’d seen. Bigger, no doubt. The interior had to be nothing short of lavish.

Both in this life and the last, Magnus had never laid eyes on anything close to this beast. Splattered across the windshield were black smears of centipede and spider blood, but the armored glass held firm - no cracks, clearly bulletproof.

Then the wheels - behemoth of a ride, with 22 tires in total: 2 single tires up front, midsection had 4 sets of paired tires - 8 in total, then the rear carried 3 rows of twin wheels each side, 12 more. Just from the wheelbase alone, it outclassed any truck or bus out there in both balance and terrain handling.

The body was silver, front shaped like a "Big Liberation" rig, and main compartment much like a massive freight hauler, only taller. Both sides had double-panel windows, all shut tight - no way to peek inside.

Before the world fell apart, this RV must’ve easily cost over 25 million. Maybe more. Hell, Magnus had never been part of the rich man’s world, so who knew what his guess was really worth?

Circling the RV once, he came up to the driver’s side. Stepped onto the silver ladder step, raised his hand, about to knock -

Suddenly, the engine roared to life. The driver swerved the wheel in a panic - trying to make a run for it.
