Chapter 87: Chapter 87 We Want It All

One Water Crystal holds up to four million bottles of water - that’s with a regular Awakened. If Magnus uses it, the effect triples. That’s twelve million bottles in one shot. For survivors desperate for clean water, that’s a goldmine.

"I’ve got a question," Sophia stood and raised her hand.

Her formality caught Magnus a bit off guard. "Go ahead."

Sophia stood tall, eyes locked ahead, voice firm. "If we send out a team this big on a mission, what happens if Sinovar’s Seventh Vanguard sends bombers our way? How do we protect our people? I want a real answer, something we can trust."

The room went quiet. Even the others looked stunned - not at the question, but at the way she asked it. Still, she had a point. Bombers overhead would make any plan just words with no weight.

"That happens to be my second point," Magnus said calmly. "After this meeting, I’m heading out with Abigail, Emma, Sophia, and Grace. Five of us. Target: the Seventh Vanguard’s airfield. We take shoulder-mounted rocket launchers, hit the place before the night’s over."

"You’re bombing an airfield?" Charlotte gasped. "No way. That’s suicide!"

"It’s not as bad as it sounds. We’ve still got Metal Crystals. As long as we’re not captured or suffocated, we can make it out."

"I’m in," Sophia said, no hesitation.

"Same here," Grace added.

"We’re in too!" Emma and Abigail backed them up without missing a beat.

"We five are all 4x speed Awakened. No vehicle can match our speed. We’ll carry extra Metal Crystals. Shouldn’t be much trouble," Magnus explained.

Charlotte turned to Magnus, confused. "Wait, four times speed? Since when are you like them? And Abigail and Emma too?"

"We awakened a second time in the Anomaly Zone. Now our strength and speed are four times normal. I’ll explain more after we get back from the airfield."

Alright, short-term goal handled - loot gear from rogue troops, sell water to survivor groups.

Magnus looked at the team, the future clear in his mind. It was time to talk mid-term. Something that had to do with Vulture...

"But have you considered..." Liana spoke up, concern in her voice. "We’ve still got thirteen tons of food, enough for maybe four months if we ration it. But you want to trade it away, recruit more people... What about our food supply later?"

"That’s the third matter," Magnus said. "Selling water will work - for now. But once people get their hands on their own Crystals, we’ll lose that edge. So next step - we take Ashbrook Town."

Ashbrook Town - everyone called it ’Grain Town’ now. A massive underground storage built south of Springvale City back in 1972, meant for times of war. Built deep, meant to last. A vault of food in the apocalypse. The underground granary in Ashbrook Town had enough stock to make your jaw drop. No one knew the exact amount - not even Vulture, who controlled it in Magnus’s past life.

Still, Vulture once said, "If this stuff never goes bad, the whole damn Northreach Province could eat for generations."

Back then, only he lived better than Cliff. Vulture betrayed his own team, gathered a hundred desperate survivors, and seized Ashbrook Town. After that, he started trading everything under the sun - just like Magnus did with water. Women, cars, fuel, luxury goods - if Vulture saw worth in it, you could trade it for food.

And none of the big factions, not even Cliff, dared to mess with him. If anyone tried to storm the place, Vulture would burn down that granary first. No one wanted to risk starving everyone.

Vulture had their lifeline in a death grip. Even Cliff had to play by his rules, handing over things - sometimes women - just for a few sacks of grain.

"There’s really an underground granary like that?" Liana asked, her eyes wide.

Charlotte added, "Does that mean we can sell food to the other survivors later?"

Sophia’s voice turned cold. "If Cliff hears about this, he’ll throw everything he’s got at Ashbrook. Can we even hold it?"

"He won’t dare," Magnus replied, scanning the women around him. "Look - if he attacks, we’ll destroy it. He knows that. Charlotte’s right. Once we’ve taken the place, we can trade grain with everyone, Cliff included. But it’ll be on our terms. Then Ice Regiment’s position will be solid."

Chloe, now a squad leader, asked, "What about this bunker? Are we just leaving it?"

Magnus hesitated for a moment. "We’ll talk about that later. For now, we’re staying here two more months. When the time comes, we go to Ashbrook."

The meeting came to a close. Most were still digesting everything when Magnus turned toward the entrance. Dana and the two other girls were already standing there - Abigail had brought them in. They’d been listening the whole time. It was time to bring their part into the open.

"Dana..." Magnus stood and walked to them. These were the girls he’d saved back at Coldmere Town with a Life Crystal - just for this moment.

"Magnus..."

They were seventeen, maybe eighteen. Snatched from their villages by Joshua’s men, thrust into hell. They were nervous - didn’t know how to act, never seen this kind of room, this kind of people.

"Tell everyone what Commander Jenkins and his men did to you folks in Coldmere."

This wasn’t just for the record - it was for Sophia and Charlotte. Let them hear what their own damn army had turned into.

"We..."

They hesitated at the table, all eyes on them. None dared speak first. One nudged another, another nudged back...but in the end, Dana stepped up, her voice like a whisper.

"We were... Commander Jenkins’s sex slaves..."
