Harem Legion: Queens of the Apocalypse-Chapter 76 Don’t Mess with College Girls
On May 13th, 2017, the world collapsed. Meteors rained down, followed by five hours of nonstop heavy rain. Over two thousand people got trapped inside Titan Mart of Ironvale County because of the storm. Then, monsters showed up from nowhere. Hundreds died before survivors managed to barricade all entrances and windows.
Fifteen days passed. The store ran out of water. Over 1,400 people stormed the underground garage. Having learned their lesson, they used store supplies to refit the cars there.
But there weren’t enough vehicles. The Awakened who led the charge made the call - only Awakened could join the escape. Ordinary folks? Left behind, hoping for rescue.
More than thirty cars, all manned by Awakened, blasted out of Ironvale County. Like most, their plan was to seize a village - plenty of food, fewer beasts, wells with fresh water.
What they didn’t count on were the rat beasts waiting on the road. The convoy lost seven or eight vehicles in the ambush.
Ironvale’s all mountains. Magnus’s Mongoose was grinding uphill when the fight broke out. He heard the chaos but couldn’t see a thing. So he climbed up the slope alone and saw it all - dozens of well-geared men and women stabbing a giant rat beast. Bodies, maybe eighteen or so, lay scattered around.
They could fight. And those vehicles? Modded.
Magnus looked up. A huge swarm of sky mosquitoes hung above but didn’t dive. Must be some kind of repellent - either real bug spray or something masking their scent.
Watching these people move, Magnus guessed they were all Awakened. A full hundred, at least.
Ordinary folks like them once... He hoped they’d mind their own business. With that thought, he turned back, drove down, regrouped with the Ice Regiment convoy. They pulled over, and Magnus climbed into the sleeper truck to update the team.
"Over a hundred? All Awakened?" Charlotte frowned at him. "Magnus, think we should bring them in?"
"I say yes!" Sophia raised her hand without hesitation. "We need the strength."
Emily scoffed. "Not scared they might backstab us?" The jab wasn’t just about the idea - it was leftover spite from their spat last night.
"Exactly," Sarah chimed in. "Y’all forget what Magnus said? Won’t be long before the army starts hunting us women down, turning us into slaves. What if these guys sell us out?"
Sitting on her bunk, legs pulled up, Victoria painted her toenails like nothing was happening. Without even looking up, she muttered, "Yeah, men are trash. Guess y’all ain’t learned that lesson well enough."
Everyone had spoken their piece. Surprisingly, Sophia didn’t argue further. The others fell silent, turning to Magnus, waiting for his final call.
Magnus finally exhaled and said, "It’s not hard to figure out if they’re friendly. Here’s what we’ll do - put the weapons away, go back to playing the part of college students from Springvale. Let’s see how they treat us. If they act decent, we can go with Sophia and Charlotte’s suggestion and bring them into Ice Regiment. But if they disappoint - "
Before he finished, Victoria, head down, painting her nails, interrupted without looking up. "Then we kill them. If you won’t do it, I don’t mind the mess."
That caught Magnus off guard - he didn’t know she’d killed prisoners before. He stared at her, visibly surprised. Victoria finally looked up under his gaze, grinned sweetly, toes curling slightly, and asked, "Do they look good?"
Clearing his throat, Magnus quickly looked away. "No... No need to kill. As long as we don’t cross each other..."
Right then, the first armored vehicle of the other convoy appeared over the crest of the road. Magnus gave a quick signal, and Liana led a few of the girls off to alert the ones in the sleeper truck, moving as planned.
Standing by the driver’s seat of the sleeper truck, Magnus watched the incoming vehicles with a slight shake of his head.
Only by doing this could the women slowly learn what it meant when people say "hearts can be wicked." A convoy of over a hundred Awakened and not a single regular human among them - didn’t that already say enough?
*****
At the front of the approaching convoy, Henry Yarrow sat in the lead vehicle with Eric White and Daniel Blake by his side. Spotting the Ice Regiment, Henry immediately had the driver slow down. Suspicion surfaced in his mind.
They’re not military.
That realization eased his nerves a bit. His vehicle rolled to a stop about ten meters from the Ice Regiment. Henry signaled, and several dozen armed men and women spilled out, storming toward Magnus’ vehicles.
To his surprise, the Ice Regiment opened their door without a fuss. Henry felt a bit confused, but as soon as he boarded, confusion turned to excitement.
Since the world turned upside down, he hadn’t been this pumped.
"Don’t move! Hands where we can see them! Now! Immediately! Move and you’re dead!"
Henry stormed into the sleeper truck with over ten others, all shouting commands in his tone at the female team members.
After ordering the door shut, he noticed there was only one man onboard - Magnus - holding a watermelon knife in one hand. Henry gave him a push and barked, "You! Talk! Who are you people? Got any food or water? Where you heading?"
"We’re students from Springvale University," Magnus replied calmly.
Seeing how low these guys were, Sophia’s temper flared. She had actually wanted to accept them into the group, but now it seemed she’d overestimated them.
She stood from the sleep berth and said coldly, "You’re bringing a whole crew up here waving weapons around - what the hell do you want?"
"We..." Henry turned to respond, but then his eyes landed on Sophia - and they lit up. Damn, she’s beautiful.
