Half-Hearted: Mr. Sinclair, Stop the Act!-Chapter 215: Sean Fuller
Sean Fuller stepped out of the emergency internal medicine rescue room again, his narrow gaze falling on the gradually receding figure.
In just two seconds, he withdrew his gaze and took out the phone that had been ringing non-stop in his pocket.
Seeing the caller ID, a faint smile crossed his eyes, which were usually calm and quiet, as he answered the call.
"Hmm, you’re well-informed. I just got back last week."
Meanwhile, Sienna Monroe and Sebastian Prescott walked out of the hospital doors together, with Sienna gently moving her wrist, which was clasped in Sebastian’s palm.
She looked up at him and said, "Thank you."
She had been quite surprised just now.
She didn’t expect the Preston and Ainsworth Families to have such a good relationship, and yet Sebastian would fall out with Serena Grant.
On the way out, Sebastian’s cold and stern expression had already softened.
Now, under the silver glow of street lamps and moonlight, he looked at her.
Feeling her arm slightly struggling, he let go of her.
His voice, as cold as the March wind, held a hint of chill.
"I just did what I should have done. You don’t need to thank me. It was Serena Grant who was being unreasonable; if we hadn’t been resolute, with her personality, she would have likely kept pursuing the issue."
Sienna nodded upon hearing this.
She refrained from commenting on Serena Grant’s ways.
It wasn’t worth commenting on.
However, her impression of the Grant Family was greatly reduced.
Thinking about it, it’s not surprising for the Grant Family, often praised by others, to be somewhat arrogant.
But Serena Grant had been quite dismissive of others just now.
In contrast, Claire Grant’s gentle and graceful nature seemed to fit better with the family’s scholarly background.
Even if Claire’s demeanor was a facade, as of now, she hadn’t done anything to disgrace the heritage of being "a family of scholars."
Sienna hung her head slightly, making it hard for Sebastian to see her expression clearly.
He didn’t ask more about the matter, instead asking, "Where’s your car?"
Sienna said, "It’s over at Stillwater Road."
It’s not far from here, but if you go from The Left Bank Courtyard, it requires a detour, taking about forty minutes.
She was about to suggest taking a cab there when Sebastian said, "Come on, I’ll drive you there."
Sienna heard him and didn’t hesitate or refuse, nodding and thanking him again.
In about ten minutes, they arrived at Stillwater Road. She got out of the Bentley’s passenger seat, went straight to the driver’s seat, and started the car.
Through the traffic, a black luxury Bentley followed her white Porsche from a few meters behind.
Approximately forty minutes later, the two cars entered The Left Bank Courtyard’s underground parking lot one after the other.
They entered the elevator together.
The elevator stopped at the 11th floor first, where Sienna turned and greeted Sebastian.
Sebastian nodded, "Rest early. Good night."
"Alright."
Once the elevator doors closed, Sienna walked into her house, went to the floor-to-ceiling window, and watered the azaleas on the low table.
The two pots of azaleas Sebastian initially gifted had bloomed in recent days.
Maybe because they were of a different variety, their colors were more vibrant than the other four pots.
But they were still very beautiful.
She put down the watering can and was about to go to her room to freshen up when her phone rang suddenly in her bag.
It was Shane Morgan calling.
She hesitated for a moment and quickly answered, "Hello, brother."
"Are you back?" Shane’s calm voice came from the other end.
"I just got home," Sienna asked, "What’s up? Is something wrong?"
Shane paused briefly before saying, "Dad’s post-surgery recovery has hit a snag. He’s developed an infection at the gastrointestinal anastomosis leak, and he’s been frequently experiencing abdominal pain, weakness, and excessive sweating lately."
Sienna’s pupils contracted upon hearing this, her heart tightening slightly.
Her emotions involuntarily became agitated, "How could this happen? Wasn’t he recovering well before? Is it serious? What did the doctor say?"
Shane reassured, "Monroe, don’t worry. The doctor said post-surgery complications like this are normal, but recovery will require some time.
Especially for the gastrointestinal anastomosis leak, which will require surgery, so I’m planning to transfer him to Evergreen Hospital of Capital University tomorrow.
I happen to have a friend working at Evergreen Hospital; he was studying surgical diseases abroad and just recently returned.
I’ve already spoken to him and arranged the hospitalization."
Evergreen Hospital of Capital University.
She had just returned from there...
Sienna pressed her lips together and asked, "What time is Dad arriving tomorrow?"
"The doctor here arranged for nine thirty in the morning, and he should arrive by around eleven."
She softly sighed, "How is Dad now?"
"He just took medicine and is asleep. I’ll call you before I leave tomorrow; get a good sleep tonight and don’t overthink."
Sienna acknowledged, "Alright, I understand."
After hanging up, her mind was in turmoil.
That night, she still didn’t sleep well.
The following morning, when she awoke, the sun had climbed over the clouds, its golden rays spreading like silk, dispelling the mist between tall buildings.
She made a simple breakfast, ate it, and then called Nora Joyce, discussing Claire Grant’s hospitalization.
But she didn’t explain Claire’s condition in detail.
Nora didn’t press for details on Claire’s illness, just sounded a bit surprised and hesitant, "Then what about the collaborative art exhibition..."
Sienna looked at the brilliant light outside and spoke softly, "Let’s proceed as usual. After all, the exhibition date hasn’t been set yet. I probably won’t make it to the gallery today, so you and Director Dawson host the morning meeting."
Nora agreed, "Alright, I understand."
Just after nine, she received a call from Shane, saying they had already left the hospital from Eastwood.
Considering the time, she drove to Evergreen Hospital after ten.
The morning rush was over, so the journey was smooth, and she arrived at the hospital by ten thirty.
With the car turned off, she was about to open the door and get out when a melodious English ringtone suddenly sounded.
She quickly took it out and saw it was Audrey calling, calming her slightly.
Upon answering, Audrey’s clear and free-spirited voice came through the receiver, "Monroe, shall we have dinner together tonight?"
"Tonight probably won’t work." With Audrey, Sienna didn’t hide anything, "My dad’s recovery isn’t going well due to an infection, and he’s being transferred to Evergreen Hospital in Southcroft today."
Audrey immediately became anxious upon hearing this, "What? When did Uncle transfer hospitals? How come you didn’t tell me about such a big thing? I’ll come over now."
Leah Hughes and Leo Monroe had long become like parents to her.
Practically since university her breaks were mostly spent at The Monroe Family.
She initially planned to return to Elysia in three days, mentioning it to Sienna tonight, then visiting Leo Monroe in Eastwood tomorrow, but didn’t expect...
Even though Sienna now felt unsure due to not knowing exactly how her father was faring.
She still comforted Audrey with a few words and reminded her to be careful driving over.
In about ten minutes, Sienna saw an ambulance stopping at the hospital entrance, with not only medical staff but Shane also jumping out of the vehicle.
She quickly walked over, called "Brother," and saw Leo Monroe lying on the stretcher.
The surgery had made him much thinner, his appearance more haggard.
He even seemed to have grown some white hair.
Sienna’s eyes instantly reddened.
Leo was awake and seeing his daughter, he smiled weakly and said, "Sienna, why are you crying? Dad’s fine, see?
Sienna’s nose felt a bit sour, she held his hand, unable to speak, just nodded, managing not to cry.
Following the doctors and nurses pushing the stretcher inside the hospital.
Finally taking the elevator to the VIP ward floor in the inpatient department.
After moving him to the bed, the nurse started making records, about to explain some precautions when a tall figure dressed in a white coat walked in.
The nurse greeted first, "Professor Fuller."
