Half-Hearted: Mr. Sinclair, Stop the Act!-Chapter 187: I’m Very Satisfied with Myself
Previously, when Sienna Monroe was researching the matter involving Sebastian Prescott and Claire Grant, she came across news about Mrs. Prescott while browsing the web.
Mrs. Prescott’s original name was Eleanor Troy, and she came from a family of scholars and researchers in Crestview.
The year Joy Prescott and Sebastian Prescott were kidnapped, she suffered mental trauma and was diagnosed with schizophrenia.
Thinking of this, Sienna suddenly understood why she felt that strange sensation earlier.
But...
The distance from Westwood to Southcroft is a two-hour drive.
This Mrs. Troy could come to the art gallery to find her, and she had come several times.
Yet all her connections with Sebastian were due to cases.
The case at June Ewing’s beauty salon and Caleb Sinclair’s divorce case.
There were no other questionable connections.
Except for that one time outside court...
She looked up, seeing Eleanor Troy still gazing coldly at her, and gently furrowed her brows.
She pressed her lips together, appearing polite but also distant.
"Mrs. Troy, I’m not sure where you heard about this matter.
But you’ve misunderstood, Lawyer Prescott and I are not in the kind of relationship you think."
Eleanor Troy’s tone carried a hint of disdain and contempt, "Oh? Misunderstanding? Then tell me, what kind of relationship do you have?"
This tone...
Still made one very uncomfortable.
It was as if she were a criminal sitting on the defendant’s stand, facing the interrogation and criticism of both the prosecution and defense.
Sienna Monroe did not want to fall into this trap of self-justification.
Once she falls into it, even if she’s wronged, she’ll have no way to clear her name.
Besides, she didn’t need to prove anything.
She calmly asked, "Since Mrs. Troy doesn’t believe my words, why not ask Lawyer Prescott? Wouldn’t it be more direct to ask him?"
Hearing this, Eleanor Troy picked up her cup of tea again, sipping it elegantly.
She spoke expressionlessly, "It’s not important. I just want to hear your promise, that you will stay away from my son.
I know you’re excellent in many ways, but just the fact that you’ve been divorced makes you unworthy of my son. You’re also not suitable for The Prescott Family, so please don’t entangle with Sebastian."
Entangle?
Quite laughable.
And rather speechless.
Sienna contemplated her for a moment and chose not to explain further.
No matter how much she explained, this Mrs. Troy would not listen.
If explaining proved fruitless, then it’s better to solve the issue at its source.
She took out her phone, decisively dialing Sebastian Prescott’s number right in front of Eleanor Troy.
She and Sebastian mostly communicated through WeChat, and other than at the beginning when they hadn’t added each other on WeChat, phone calls were few and far between.
The phone rang once before it was answered.
From the receiver came Sebastian Prescott’s cool, low voice, "What’s up?"
Suddenly hearing this familiar voice, Sienna was briefly stunned, then asked, "Lawyer Prescott, are you available right now?"
On the other end of the call, Sebastian heard the detachment in her tone and furrowed his brows, "What’s wrong? Did something happen?"
Sienna said, "Your mother, Mrs. Troy, has some misunderstandings about my relationship with you. I’ve explained it to her, but she doesn’t believe me, so I had to call you. Could you please explain to her?"
"What?"
Sebastian was startled, immediately realizing, "You mean, she went to find you?"
"Yes, she’s at the art gallery right now."
"Wait for me, I’m coming over now."
Sienna initially wanted to say that it would be fine to just explain to Eleanor Troy over the phone, but before she could open her mouth, Sebastian had already hung up.
When Sienna dialed Sebastian’s number, a rare expression appeared on Eleanor Troy’s face for the first time since entering the office.
Surprise.
But she quickly composed herself, her authoritative eyes mixed with some hints of displeasure.
After Sienna hung up the call, she finally said, "Your words make it sound like I’m making things difficult for you."
Sienna did not argue on this matter but instead took control of the topic.
She asked, "I wonder where Mrs. Troy heard about my affair with Lawyer Prescott?"
Eleanor Troy gazed at her, placing the cup down, her tone icy as she spoke, "I initially thought you’d be smart, but unfortunately, you’re still so foolish.
You’re trying to use my son as a shield. Sienna Monroe, you disappoint me."
"Mrs. Troy, I respect you as an elder, and my upbringing and etiquette prevent me from speaking harshly to elders, but this is not a reason for you to repeatedly insult me."
Sienna looked her in the eye, her gaze steady as still water.
She felt that since entering this office, she has shown the respect and manners a younger person should have towards this lady.
But she had no reason to continue enduring these baseless insults and accusations.
"Your previous comments made me very uncomfortable. You don’t need to belittle me in such a manner; whether I’m excellent or foolish doesn’t require others to assess or acknowledge.
I am very satisfied with myself and won’t engage in unnecessary self-doubt due to your statements today; I only seek to stay true to myself."
She let a faint smile appear, though it didn’t reach her eyes, "I wonder if Mrs. Troy can understand this when I put it like this?"
Eleanor Troy looked at her, a strange expression flickering in her eyes.
She lightly touched the jade bracelet on her wrist, picked up her bag, and stood up, "Then I hope you can live up to what you said today."
With that, she walked straight out of the office.
Sienna frowned slightly.
But she still stood up to send her to the elevator, not saying much else, and only gave a slight nod after Mrs. Troy entered the elevator.
After Eleanor Troy left, she stood there for about two minutes, lost in thought.
Just staring blankly at that elevator door.
Until Nora Joyce came over and called her, pulling her thoughts back into her blank mind.
Returning to the office, she talked with Nora for a few minutes before Sebastian arrived.
