Chapter 126: Chapter 126: You Are Her Defense Attorney?

As one of the police officers moved to handcuff her, tears pooled in Sienna Monroe’s eyes, spilling over.

This unexpected event made her face turn even paler.

She looked like a white poplar in a storm, teetering on the edge of collapse.

Terrified and in panic, she looked at Caleb Sinclair and shook her head, unable to utter a single word.

Caleb Sinclair’s heart felt like it was pierced with countless needles, bleeding profusely. He held Sienna Monroe’s hand with one hand and stopped the police officer attempting to handcuff her with the other.

A storm brewed in his gloomy eyes, looking at the lead officer as he asked in a deep voice, "Since you haven’t yet determined whether she’s involved in managing prostitution, isn’t it too early for these handcuffs? Aren’t they against protocol?

I can cooperate with you, but please don’t treat her as a criminal before the results are out!

If the final result shows she really has nothing to do with it, I will definitely hold you accountable for the psychological harm you’ve caused her!"

The police officer glanced at Sienna Monroe, who seemed soulless. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

Spoke up, "Mr. Sinclair, I understand your feelings, and I know Sienna Monroe is in a special situation now, but we’re only enforcing the law impartially, and I hope for your understanding. Let’s not use the handcuffs."

The last sentence was spoken to the officer holding the handcuffs.

Caleb Sinclair turned back to hug Sienna Monroe, softly comforting her, "It’s okay, Sienna, I’ll be with you, don’t be afraid."

Sienna, sobbing, nodded her head; her trembling shoulders slowly calmed down as she boarded the same police car as Caleb Sinclair.

Twenty minutes later, they arrived at the police station, and the police wanted to separate them. Caleb Sinclair hugged her.

He hurriedly comforted her with a few words, "Sienna, don’t be afraid, it will be okay. Whatever the police ask you, just answer truthfully. Trust me."

With tears streaming down, Sienna nodded, "Mm, I trust you."

She was taken to the interrogation room by the police, questioned by a female officer and the male officer who had summoned her from home to the police station.

By now, she wasn’t crying, and those timid, vacant eyes had regained clarity.

The police naturally noticed her drastically changed demeanor.

Asked, "You’re the informer of the Radiance Beauty Spa prostitution case, why were you acting in front of Caleb Sinclair just now?"

Sienna’s voice remained gentle, "The founder of Radiance Beauty Spa is his mom; I couldn’t let him notice anything amiss, so I had to act."

"When did you discover it?"

"Two months ago."

"How did you discover it?"

"..."

The police asked her for a full half-hour; she couldn’t mention the message, so she had to use the excuse she had muddled through with her uncle back then.

Even if they were inclined to verify it, nothing could be found.

The door of the interrogation room was suddenly pushed open, and a young man in civilian clothes said, "Captain Chaney, Lawyer Prescott is here, claiming to be Sienna Monroe’s representative lawyer, to submit evidence for the Radiance Beauty Spa prostitution case."

As soon as he finished speaking, a tall silhouette dressed in a suit appeared in their line of sight.

The man’s eyes, as deep as obsidian, accurately landed on Sienna Monroe’s pallid, bloodless, and emaciated face, then met her swollen almond eyes.

His heart momentarily paused.

His handsome silhouette also darkened.

Though it had only been eight days apart, she had become this haggard and wretched.

Captain Chaney asked in surprise, "Prescott, you’re her representative lawyer?"

Sebastian Prescott’s gaze slowly moved away from her, looking at Captain Chaney, and nodded lightly, "Can I have a word with you?"

Captain Chaney nodded, turned and winked at the female officer.

The female officer understood, and when they left, she poured a cup of warm water for Sienna Monroe, smiling, "Miss Morgan, please sit here for a while."

Sienna took the water, thanked her, and reflexively raised her hand to touch her face.

Before getting into the car today, she had glimpsed her reflection in the window.

Perhaps, thanks to that face, even in this situation, her pathologically pale appearance and those seemingly dull eyes didn’t look too ugly.

But still, it couldn’t be considered pretty.

She let her hand fall, sipped some water, moistening her slightly dry throat.

The wait this time was a bit long, nearly an hour, as Sienna sat there without moving an inch. The female officer poured her a second glass of water, but she didn’t drink it.

When the electronic clock on the interrogation room wall showed nine past eleven, the door was pushed open again.

The young officer referred to as Captain Chaney came in, along with Sebastian Prescott.

Sebastian Prescott walked over to her first, opened the panel before her, his distinct, long fingers grabbing her arm.

Sienna Monroe looked at him, full of shock and disbelief, using his strength to stand.

She opened her mouth, but hadn’t yet spoken.

Captain Chaney stepped forward to ask, "Miss Morgan, among the evidence Lawyer Prescott submitted, there’s a ledger of the prostitution industry, where did you find it?"

Sienna was momentarily stunned, then replied slowly, "In June Ewing’s study at The Sterling Estate, the ledger was on the top right of the bookshelf..."

She thoughtfully recalled, "Seems to be the fourth book, covered with ’Listening to the Taste of a Blue Mountain Summer.’ In the cabinet behind the desk, the bottom layer of the safe holds the underground business plan and the ’employee’ list, just uncertain if she moved them."

Upon hearing, Captain Chaney immediately called his men to seal off June Ewing’s study.

Yesterday, after capturing June Ewing, the police conducted an overnight interrogation. June admitted Radiance Beauty Spa was engaged in an underground prostitution business and disclosed all its shareholders, including the underground ones.

Claudia Reid and Beatrice Whitlock were secretly brought back to the police station for investigation the previous night.

But June Ewing became unwilling to open up about anything else.

The most critical evidence in this case was the ledger.

After making the call, Captain Chaney also spoke to Sienna Monroe, "Today’s summons was routine procedure on our side; I hope Miss Monroe understands."

"No problem."

Sienna flashed a faint smile, hesitantly looking at the man beside him, "Then I now..."

Sebastian Prescott’s voice interrupted her, "I’m taking her now. Any matters, any questions, feel free to call me anytime."

After saying this, he nodded slightly, leading Sienna Monroe out of the police station.

As noon approached, beams of golden light pierced through the clouds, enveloping Sienna Monroe.

The warmth wasn’t intense but seemed to counter the bleakness and cold brought by the piercing wind.

Walking to the black Bentley, Sebastian Prescott belatedly released her arm.

Turning to scrutinize her face, his clear, steady voice carried a faint trace of concern, "Isn’t it just acting? How come it’s ended up like this?"
