Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill-Chapter 101: Showdown, I’m an Official Mage
Leviedan looked at the reluctant expression on Li Wei’s face and said earnestly,
"You can’t be so selfish. After enjoying the benefits the Mage Tower has provided, you must also make contributions to give back."
Li Wei’s expression twitched.
Leviedan gave a slight smile. "Of course, seeing as you’ve only just become an Apprentice Mage, I can grant you an extension."
"If you’re willing to make contributions to the Mage Tower in other ways, I can postpone your teaching duties to give you some time to prepare."
"I hear Apprentice Mage Li Wei is a wealthy man, using Middle Level Magic Potions for his cultivation."
He glanced at Li Wei, subtly rubbing his fingers together.
Hearing this, Li Wei understood his implication.
’He’s just trying to use this as an opportunity to extort me.’
He was rather speechless.
’Leviedan is an Official Mage, and a member of a renowned noble family in Maple City, no less.’
’To think he’d stoop to something like this.’
’It’s truly shocking.’
Li Wei suddenly smiled. "As I recall, Official Mages aren’t required to teach apprentices, are they?"
Leviedan froze for a moment. "That’s right. So what?"
He sneered. "Don’t tell me you’re trying to say you’ve already become an Official Mage?"
Li Wei feigned surprise. "Oh! How did you know?"
Leviedan’s face twitched, and his expression darkened, turning ugly.
"Hmph! Apprentice Mage Li Wei, lying is not a quality a Mage should possess."
"You can’t just declare yourself an Official Mage."
"You must be certified by the Mage Tower to earn the right to call yourself an Official Mage."
"And another thing, you’re merely an Apprentice Mage. Show me some respect!"
"I am an Official Mage!"
Leviedan glared at Li Wei, his expression hostile.
Since Leviedan was trying to extort him, Li Wei saw no reason to be polite.
He walked straight toward the third-floor hall of the Mage Tower.
"Excuse me, I need to get in," Li Wei said, looking at Leviedan, who was standing in the doorway.
Leviedan sneered, utterly refusing to believe he could become an Official Mage.
’How old is Li Wei, anyway?’
’He’s only been in the Mage Tower for three years and hasn’t even finished his Magic Theory courses.’
’At best, he was lucky to have become an Apprentice Mage.’
’Does he think Extraordinary Traits are so easy to awaken?’
Leviedan stepped aside, watching as Li Wei approached the Magic Butler.
Li Wei walked up to the Magic Butler and said, "I am applying for Official Mage certification."
Magic Butler: "Apprentice Mage Li Wei, each Apprentice Mage may only apply for certification once per year. Do you wish to confirm your application?"
"Confirm."
Magic Butler: "Initiating Official Mage qualification test. Please proceed to the testing area."
RUMBLE!
The great golden door in the center of the hall rumbled and began to glow.
A laser beam shaped like an arrow shot from the Magic Butler’s eyes, pointing Li Wei toward the testing area.
Li Wei walked toward the golden door.
Seeing this, Leviedan quickly followed him.
At the same time, the other Official Mages in the Mage Tower also received a notification.
Those who were free hurried over to observe the test.
The testing area was on the fourth floor of the Mage Tower, and only Official Mages were permitted to enter and observe the process.
Passing through the golden door, Li Wei found himself in a large, circular hall.
In the center of the hall stood a Magic Stele.
It was identical to the Magic Stele from the Apprentice’s assessment ceremony.
The Magic Butler’s voice echoed from above.
"Step one: please proceed with the Mana test."
Li Wei walked toward the Magic Stele.
As he approached the Magic Stele, several figures appeared in the hall one after another.
"Mage Leviedan, hello."
"Mage George, good morning."
"Mage Gu Ze."
"Mage Rota."
...
The mages exchanged greetings.
When Gu Ze and Rota saw Li Wei, they looked somewhat surprised.
’I didn’t expect him to reveal his strength at a time like this.’
Leviedan chuckled. "I’m afraid you’ve all come for nothing."
Hearing this, George said nothing. He glanced at Li Wei, then turned as if to leave.
Gu Ze and Rota exchanged a look and smiled faintly, but they also remained silent.
Li Wei placed his hand on the Magic Stele and infused it with Mana.
A moment later, a number materialized at the top of the Magic Stele.
"Mana Strength: 648."
Everyone’s face filled with astonishment at the sight.
Gu Ze and Rota knew Li Wei’s Mana Strength already met the standard for an Official Mage.
But they never expected his Mana Strength to be this high.
Most newly-promoted Official Mages have a Mana Strength of just over three hundred.
A Mana Strength over six hundred already met the standard for a Tier One Middle Level Mage.
Leviedan was stunned.
In disbelief, he blurted out, "You must have cheated!"
Hearing this, George turned back to look at the Magic Stele.
He stared for a moment, then heard Leviedan accuse Li Wei of cheating.
He shot Leviedan a look. "Are you questioning the accuracy of the Magic Stele?"
Leviedan fell silent.
George was more senior and more powerful than he was.
With the Reinstein Clan backing him, Leviedan wasn’t afraid of George.
He was simply embarrassed to have lost his composure.
Another figure walked into the hall.
"Mage Lilith."
George greeted the newcomer.
Lilith heard him and gave a slight nod to George in acknowledgment.
Her gaze fell on Li Wei, and a glint of light flashed in her eyes.
The Magic Butler’s voice rang out again.
"Step two: please proceed with the test for awakened Extraordinary Traits."
"During the test, please demonstrate the full extent of your Extraordinary Traits."
"The results of this test are confidential. Only your pass or fail status will be announced."
Hearing this, Li Wei pulled back his hand.
He performed the Fireball Skill.
It was a normal casting, with no charge-up time.
The Magic Stele shot out a beam of light, enveloping the Fireball in Li Wei’s hand.
A moment later, the analysis was complete.
"Awakened a Basic Level Elemental System Extraordinary Trait. Test passed."
"Congratulations, you are now an Official Mage."
Li Wei felt something in his pocket vibrate.
He took the Magic Badge out of his pocket. It automatically flew up before the Magic Stele.
BZZZT!
A green laser scanned across the Magic Badge, etching a new pattern onto it.
After a moment, the Magic Badge drifted down.
Li Wei reached out and caught it.
An additional star now adorned the face of the Magic Badge, symbolizing his status as a Tier One Official Mage.
Li Wei took the Magic Badge and walked over to Leviedan.
He wore a wide grin. "Mage Leviedan, I wasn’t lying, was I?"
Leviedan stared at his grinning face, the corner of his mouth twitching.
Noticing the others watching, he gave a cold snort, turned on his heel, and left.
George said with a smile, "Congratulations. You’re the youngest Official Mage in the history of Maple City."
Li Wei’s future was boundless, and George was keen to build a good relationship.
Li Wei smiled back. "Thank you, Mage George. I’ll be in your care."
George chuckled. "You flatter me. With your talent, it’s only a matter of time before you surpass me."
"If you have any questions about your cultivation in the future, feel free to come find me to discuss them. Mages need to communicate with one another to grow."
Li Wei nodded. "Thank you in advance, then."
Li Wei turned his head and saw Lilith. His eyes flickered for a moment, but he pretended not to know her.
