Following the conferment of the Count title to Adam, a grand feast was held in his honor.

Needless to say, the people in attendance were the Magi of the Black Legion and all the members of the Benton Family.

Additionally, several city officials, Viscounts, and Barons were present. These were the ones who had a good relationship with the Benton Family and were, thus, invited.

Everything had happened so quickly that one moment Adam was overseeing the construction of his house, the next moment he had become a Count, and now he was greeting all these unfamiliar people with a fake smile on his face.

Thankfully, Raidon, a noble Viscount of Ravenfell, was there to guide him through it. The towering hulk of a man stood behind him and politely introduced all the guests to him.

After Adam was able to catch a breather, he looked at the man and frankly stated, "Raidon, are you not bitter about me taking your position? Be honest."

Raidon smiled awkwardly, "My Lord, you are very candid, I must say."

He then paused for a moment before sincerely saying, "It is only right that the strongest man in the Black Legion gets to be the Lord Commander.

"Unlike some of the other divisions in the city's armed forces, my brothers and I of the Black Legion do not care about one's social standing or age. Here, only strength matters.

"And considering your legendary feats, who here can say that you are not worthy of being the Lord Commander of the Black Legion?"

Adam deeply looked at Radion for a few moments before breaking into a smile, "You're all right."

He quite liked a fellow like Raidon. Earlier, he thought that he'd need to prove his might or that he'd be ostracised because he was technically an outsider.

Suddenly, he thought of something and asked, "Why did this ceremony take place all of a sudden? Do you have any idea?"

"I'm not sure, my lord." Raidon shook his head. His expression turned solemn and he stated, "However, there have been faint ripples in the city's armed forces. I suspect war is afoot."

"War, eh?" Adam grinned from ear to ear. "I like it."

Of course, he already knew what this 'war' was about. The Twilight Brotherhood had succeeded in divining the location of the Umbra Thieves' main headquarters.

Since they were a covert organization, naturally they wouldn't come forward with this crucial piece of intel. Thus, they chose their allies in Ravenfell—The Flynn Family—to take credit for it.

Needless to say, the prestige that the Flynn Family was rapidly accumulating was all thanks to the Brotherhood.

This plan to attack the Umbra Thieves' stronghold was, in fact, a smoke screen of sorts. In that, the Brotherhood expected that the traitors within the city council would divulge this intel to the Umbra Thieves.

This way, the Brotherhood would be able to narrow down the prime suspects within the city's upper echelon.

However, Adam, as well as a few other people from the Brotherhood, believed that the Cult of Bones was not foolish enough to fall for such a blatant tactic.

The believed that the Cult would willingly sacrifice the Umbra Thieves.

Although this would be a great win for the Twilight Brotherhood as well as the city of Ravenfell, the danger was far from over.

The final showdown between the Brotherhood and the Cult would take place a year and a half from now during the Grand Magus Tournament.

And Ravenfell… would become their battlefield!

"My Lord," Raidon suddenly called out, his voice a whisper. "That is the eldest son of the Lord Marshall and the next in line to become the Patriarch of the Benton Family, Sir Nash Benton."

Adam turned his head to the side and saw a middle-aged man with a clean shaven face and short hair that was graying from the side of the temple, approaching him along with a few others behind him.

Seeing the stoic-looking man stand before him and scrutinize him from head to toe, Adam found it difficult to maintain his polite smile.

Before Adam could offer a greeting, the man had already extended his right hand in invitation for a handshake.

Adam was suddenly reminded of how Qamara's father, Nylian Feno, had tested him last week. He couldn't help but mock inwardly, What is wrong with all these Mana Vortex Magi? Why are they so eager to test me, a junior?

Regardless, Adam shook the man's hand with a polite smile. "It is a pleasure to meet you Lord Benton."

A silent contest of mana took place between the two men. However, Nash made sure not to cause too much attention since this was a formal event.

He only wanted to check if Adam was the real deal.

And as it turned out, he was, in fact, the real deal!

Nash's lips curled up into a faint smirk and he spoke, "Count Constantine, I must admit, your control over mana is quite remarkable."

"Thank you, my lord." Adam bowed slightly.

"My mother is not easy to please. So I couldn't help but wonder just what kind of Magus caught her eyes," he said.

"Although I'm not quite sure how you were able to best the Rank 3 Magus from the cult, I am certain that you are very strong for a Magus of your rank."

He then patted the youth's shoulder and spoke warmly, "Congratulations on your appointment as the Lord Commander of the Black Legion. May you serve with honor and never let the city down."

"I will do my best." Adam smiled.

Nash then went on to introduce his wife and children to Adam before tending to other matters.

All of a sudden, the raven-haired youth felt an unusual aura coming from somewhere in the grand hall. His eyes narrowed and he quickly scanned his surroundings, only to find that the aura from earlier had completely vanished without a trace.

Strange… What was that? Despite focusing his Sphere of Resonance, he was not able to find that strange feeling any longer.

After greeting several more guests, the youngest son of Sabrina Benton finally arrived before Adam.

However, he was completely unlike what the youth was expecting.

Adam glanced at he man before him and thought to himself in slight shock.

This… This is Lady Benton's son?!
