God of Pets-Chapter 603: Imperial Palace Core
"Never heard of it," Ming Fei shook her head directly.
Chen Guan, seeing that Ming Fei didn't respond like Sai, frowned and asked again, "The King of Great Xia was once the strongest human, haven't you heard of him?"
"Wasn't the Emperor Ancestor the strongest human? When did a King of Great Xia show up?" Ming Fei looked puzzled, staring blankly at Chen Guan as she asked.
"I mean before the Emperor Ancestor," Chen Guan replied.
"Before the Emperor Ancestor, humans were not influential at all. Who was the strongest, I really don't know," Ming Fei suddenly seemed to think of something and asked, "You wouldn't be suggesting that this Imperial Palace was built by that so-called King of Great Xia, are you? That's impossible; humans weren't that strong before the Emperor Ancestor."
"Isn't it possible that there were no such strong people in the Secret Realm you were in?" Chen Guan felt something was peculiar about this.
"Impossible, I've been to many Secret Realms. Before the Emperor Ancestor, humans were not significant. Not to mention compared to the Emperor Ancestor's time, even compared to humans now, they were much inferior. If there really were such a strong person capable of creating this Imperial Palace, even if I hadn't seen it, I should have at least heard of it," Ming Fei replied confidently.
Chen Guan frowned more deeply; it didn't seem like Ming Fei was joking.
But if she wasn't joking, then something was seriously off here.
The River God mentioned that the various relics in the Secret Realm were built by people from different eras.
But if Ming Fei wasn't lying, she would surely have had contact with humans from the last generation, or even the generation before.
Yet she clearly stated that before the Emperor Ancestor, humans were not influential. That makes this situation completely wrong.
"If humans were insignificant before the Emperor Ancestor, then who built all those relics in the Secret Realm?" Chen Guan pondered aloud.
"It could be the handiwork of some past Secret Spirit; it couldn't be humans," Ming Fei said.
"If there were Secret Spirits capable of building these relics, why aren't there any around now? Not one has been heard of," Chen Guan retorted.
"Maybe the Secret Spirits who liked building houses have gone extinct; in any case, these things are indeed of no use to them," Ming Fei replied.
Chen Guan found this reasoning very flimsy; such a powerful class of Secret Spirits wiped out just like that, with not a single one left, was hard to accept.
Moreover, these relics are spread across various Secret Realms; how could they all be extinct at once?
Was there a coordinated great purge to wipe out all the house-building Secret Spirits, leaving none behind? Who could have done such a thing?
Secret Spirits? That answer also posed questions.
Secret Spirits did not have as high a demand for resources as humans did.
Additionally, different Secret Spirits had varying needs for resources; not all had to consume other Secret Spirits to grow.
In fact, those Secret Spirits that did eat others made up less than a fifth of all Secret Spirit species.
But if these relics were created by humans and such a glorious civilization existed, how could Ming Fei, who has lived for so long, be unaware of it, and not have heard any news about it? That clearly wasn't normal either.
Chen Guan felt the situation was contradictory and couldn't figure it out immediately.
Chen Guan shared his doubts with Ming Fei to see her explanation.
After listening, Ming Fei said, "The River God must have been trapped in here too long and has gone crazy. That talk of a previous generation or a King of Great Xia is completely non-existent."
"This Imperial Palace was surely created by some Secret God. He might have been placed here to guard the palace, perhaps through some form of brainwashing, giving him false memories," Ming Fei pondered aloud.
Her view was still the same as before: those relics had nothing to do with humans.
Chen Guan fell silent in thought, feeling that the situation was not so straightforward.
As he pondered, he suddenly heard the "woof woof" barking of Warring States.
Chen Guan looked towards where the barking came from and saw it was atop the peak where the River God had been sitting, digging at something with its two front paws.
It would dig a couple of times, then turn back to bark twice at Chen Guan's direction before continuing to dig with its paws.
Chen Guan used Pure Yang Sword Immortal to fly up and landed on the mountaintop.
Upon closer inspection, he saw that the place Warring States was digging was beside a large stone the River God had been sitting on.
That large stone was about the size of a table, with a noticeable basin-sized indentation on it, clearly the result of being sat upon for a long time.
Warring States was digging beside that stone and had already dug quite a sizeable pit.
Warring States' intent wasn't to dig deeper but to excavate under the large stone.
"Although Warring States hasn't leveled up yet, it is very strong. Why doesn't it just push the stone aside?" Chen Guan thought, placing his hand on the large stone and giving it a shove.
Indeed, the large stone didn't budge. No matter how much Chen Guan increased his power, the stone seemed rooted, completely immobile.
"No wonder the River God sat here all the time; there must be something unusual about this place." Chen Guan called over Rouge and Ghost Eye to help Warring States with the digging.
With the three of them working, they soon cleared all the soil under the stone.
Chen Guan was astonished to find that the large stone was actually floating in the air, and the soil beneath it provided no support.
On the contrary, the very presence of that soil was problematic; this mountain was a stone mountain, so why was there just a patch of soil here filling the gap between the stone and the mountain peak?
"What's the deal with this stone?" Chen Guan studied it for a while, but didn't figure it out.
However, Ming Fei was very excited, examining the stone and saying, "Could this stone be the core of this Imperial Palace?"
"What's the purpose of the core?" Chen Guan asked.
"The core is naturally the key to controlling the Imperial Palace. Generally, it connects various systems of the structure, such as common defensive systems or perhaps flight systems and the like. This Imperial Palace is not simple; it might very well have been crafted by the Secret God from the Great Cave Heaven. If we could control it, it would be an excellent place to reside," Ming Fei explained.
"I know the defensive system; it only requires the infusion of some Primordial Energy to activate the city defense Primordial Energy Shield. Is this used the same way?" Chen Guan asked Ming Fei.
"That I don't know. Different relics have different cores and methods of use. However, in principle, they all require Primordial Energy as power; it's just that the sources of Primordial Energy differ."
Ming Fei paused and continued, "Some relics' Primordial Energy comes from cultivators or Secret Spirits themselves, some derive from certain mineral deposits, and some can even directly absorb Free Elemental Energy from the heavens and the earth..."
"So, how should I try now?" Chen Guan was in no hurry; he had the River God's life images and could watch them as needed.
"It's best not to try. If the method and the Primordial Energy Attribute are wrong, it could damage the core," Ming Fei quickly advised against it.
Seeing that Ming Fei didn't know how to operate this thing, Chen Guan thought for a moment, then put Ming Fei away and asked the Paperman, "Can you directly display the information on how the River God controlled the Imperial Palace?"
The Paperman nodded slightly, and a ghostly light shot from its eyes, forming a new image.
This time, the image did not start from birth but showed the intact state of the Imperial Palace.
