God of Pets-Chapter 457: Actually Won
Chen Guan used his new identity and returned to the Beimang Mountain Secret Realm again.
He went to the Yellow Springs River outpost first, waiting for the arrival of the Spirit King Ship.
While waiting, Chen Guan got himself a fishing rod and some bait, fishing by the side of the Yellow Springs River.
After changing his appearance, the old turtle from the Yellow Springs River probably couldn’t recognize him. Without anyone to help him stir the fish, Chen Guan spent half a day and only caught two subpar small fish.
Fortunately, Chen Guan wasn’t actually interested in fishing and was merely passing the time.
After two days of fishing, he still hadn’t seen the Spirit King Ship, and the fish he caught were all second-rate, not even worth grilling, as they weren’t very tasty.
"The fish in this area must be bad. If I fish somewhere else, it should be better," Chen Guan thought to himself.
But since he had to wait for the ship here, he couldn’t change locations.
Perseverance paid off, and on the night of the third day, Chen Guan finally saw the Spirit King Ship appear on the river.
With the arrival of the Spirit King Ship, many people also gathered by the river.
Chen Guan changed his appearance and body shape, but still covered his face; it was better to avoid trouble.
Chen Guan honestly passed the test and boarded the ship’s cabin.
After sitting for a while, people continued to enter the cabin from time to time.
Suddenly, Chen Guan saw someone walk in. Although that person was masked, Chen Guan remembered that outfit well and recognized it at a glance.
"Why is Bu Changning here? Does he want to wish for Qing Ya to have a change of heart? Even the Eight Great Royals might not manage that," Chen Guan thought to himself.
After arriving in the cabin, Bu Changning found a corner for himself and sat there silently.
No one else boarded, the Spirit King Ship set sail, heading towards the Qilin Mountain Range.
Chen Guan quietly changed his seat, trying to stay as far away from Bu Changning as possible. In this state, those who got involved with Bu Changning would be unlucky.
Upon arriving at the Eight Great Royal Halls, Chen Guan did not see Fujimura Reiko, who usually hosted; his gaze darkened slightly.
"The Eight Great Royals shouldn’t be in such a rush, right? I told Fujimura Reiko to inform him that I would bring the Inner Core to him. He wouldn’t be so eager to kill Fujimura Reiko, would he?" Chen Guan thought to himself.
The new host was a man, and the gambling event had been renovated with new tricks.
"Try to win once and make a wish to take Fujimura Reiko away. If that doesn’t work, I’ll think of something else," Chen Guan listened carefully to the rules, hoping to find a way to win.
In reality, there was no surefire method to win. Unless you had enough Good Karma, you couldn’t beat the Eight Great Royals.
Unless the Spirit of the Cheerleaders could come into play, it was impossible to win against the ability of the Eight Great Royals.
Chen Guan was looking to see if there was an event where the Spirit of the Cheerleaders could be useful.
But this time, the events were completely different from when Chen Guan arrived. He couldn’t find a space for the Spirit of the Cheerleaders to play a role.
This time, the bets were on various typical gambling tools: dice, cards, mahjong, pai gow, roulette, etc., without any events involving living creatures.
"How am I supposed to deal with this? I definitely don’t have much Good Karma, so if I gamble like this, I’ll surely lose," Chen Guan frowned to himself.
"Who will be the first to gamble?" the host asked after introducing all the events and rules, looking at the cultivators who came.
"I’ll go," Bu Changning unexpectedly volunteered first.
"Would someone like Bu Changning have Good Karma? Probably not. There’s no way he could win," Chen Guan mused quietly.
"Make your wish before the god," the host said to Bu Changning.
"I want a level 30 Unparalleled Pet Celestial Demon Blade Spirit," Bu Changning stated what he desired, surprising Chen Guan somewhat.
"Ah, has Bu Changning thought it through and decided to focus on his career?" Chen Guan was secretly astonished.
"As you wish, the god has agreed to your wager. Now you can choose the event you wish to gamble on," the host replied.
"I choose the Roulette of Life and Death," Bu Changning stated.
Chen Guan’s expression changed upon seeing Bu Changning choose this event.
This event was a true test of life and death. It wasn’t an ordinary roulette game but a Russian Roulette. A revolver with a single bullet is aimed at your head; the first to fall with a bloody head loses.
Choosing this event meant Bu Changning came with a deathwish, intending to win or die trying.
The Eight Great Royals sent out a crew member to gamble with Bu Changning. The crew member unhesitatingly picked up the gun and fired it at his own head.
Click!
Only a crisp sound was heard; the hammer did not strike the bullet.
Gritting his teeth, Bu Changning picked it up and also fired a shot at his head.
The audience watched with bated breath; this method was just as thrilling for them.
Bu Changning’s shot also didn’t fire, so he set the gun back on the table.
The crew member picked up the gun, hesitated for a moment, then aimed it at his own head and closed his eyes before pulling the trigger, resulting in another click with no shot fired.
With six bullet chambers and three failed attempts, one of the remaining chambers must contain a bullet; the odds were getting high.
Bu Changning picked up the gun, visibly shaking, yet still raised it to his head, closed his eyes, and tremblingly pulled the trigger.
Click!
At that moment, Bu Changning’s soul seemed to be sucked away by the crisp sound.
Relieved, the remaining chance depended on the crew member. With a half chance, his shot would determine both their fates.
Swallowing hard, the crew member lifted his hand slowly, aiming the gun at his head.
Boom!
The gun went off, and a spurt of blood exploded at his temple.
Everyone felt a jolt in their hearts; even though it wasn’t themselves gambling, they were caught up in the suspense.
But soon, everyone realized that the crew member hadn’t fallen. The blood exploding was merely a water bullet from the gun, not his head being blown open by a bullet.
"He won," Bu Changning took a deep breath, completely exhausted.
"It appears this guest is quite lucky, achieving a brilliant beginning and obtaining his desired item," the host remarked with a smile.
Light shot out from the statue of the Eight Great Royals, and a sheathed black Demon Saber flew towards Bu Changning.
Bu Changning grasped the Demon Saber, elation overwhelming him; he had finally succeeded.
"This guy actually has some Good Karma, how can that be?" Chen Guan was extremely surprised, not expecting Bu Changning to win.
But now wasn’t the time to be concerned with Bu Changning; he needed to figure out how to win himself.
Relying on skill was not an option for Chen Guan, nor did he have Good Karma. He couldn’t choose any existing event.
However, this time, the host didn’t mention the option to define an event personally, and Chen Guan didn’t know if he could propose a new gambling method.
