God of Pets-Chapter 403: Emperor’s Tomb
The corps held off the assault of the Huangquan ghost warriors on one side while charging towards the stone platform.
However, despite each camp utilizing all their techniques, they were unable to capture the stone platform.
The four Huangquan ghost generals deployed various secret skills tirelessly, leading the ghost warriors in fierce battle against the corps, forcefully halting the corps’ advance.
The camp leaders of the same level found themselves at a disadvantage when facing the Huangquan ghost generals, even being harrowingly pushed back.
If it weren’t for the aid of their pets to fend them off, a camp leader might have already died at the hands of the Huangquan ghost generals.
Chen Guan noticed that among the four Huangquan ghost generals, one wielded dual swords, another a spear, and yet another carried a bizarre type of heavy weapon, the name of which he couldn’t identify.
The strangest of them all was a Huangquan ghost general using a great banner.
When the great banner waved, a chilling wind arose, fog continuously poured out, and its tip was a sharp weapon, each strike following an unexpected path.
Sword energy shattered the air, spear strikes crisscrossed, and that bizarre heavy weapon nearly broke the second camp leader adept in shield skill.
The second camp leader’s riding lion horse couldn’t withstand the terrifying impact and buckled under the pressure, dropping its forelegs, and kneeling directly.
The capabilities of these Huangquan ghost generals surpassed even those of the ghost emperors they had slain before.
Seeing the corps unable to make any headway, Xiu Jie Ming finally made his move.
He pointed with his finger, and a long sword whistled through the air, flying onto the platform. It circled around a Huangquan ghost general before returning to Xiu Jie Ming’s side, automatically sheathing itself back in its scabbard.
The head of that Huangquan ghost general separated from its body, toppling from the back of its ghostly steed.
The corps’ morale surged, and they charged onto the platform with renewed energy.
"That’s the Celestial Escape Sword Technique, isn’t it?" Chen Guan discerned a few key details.
He suddenly realized that the Celestial Escape Sword Technique passed down by Chunyang Temple was similar to those secret skills found in Grotto Heaven, rather than those in the Blessed Land.
In Grotto Heaven, one could potentially learn sword control techniques, while some might even acquire certain flying secret skills.
In the Blessed Secret Realm, it’s rare to hear of anyone knowing sword control techniques.
This is primarily due to most sword control techniques and flying secret skills having level and awakening restrictions, making it nearly impossible for cultivators in the Blessed Land to master them.
After Xiu Jie Ming killed one Huangquan ghost general, he ceased making further moves.
The corps’ attacks became even more vigorous, using their battle array to kill the remaining Huangquan ghost generals.
But they soon discovered that, except for the one killed by Xiu Jie Ming, the other Huangquan ghost generals quickly resurrected within the shrouding mist after being slain, continuing to engage in battle as if possessing an undying body.
Xiu Jie Ming again sent forth his flying sword, decapitating the remaining three Huangquan ghost generals.
Those ghost generals decapitated by Xiu Jie Ming’s sword lost their ability to revive and couldn’t get back on their feet.
"Xiu Jie Ming truly deserves his reputation, he’s incredibly strong," observed Hu Quan from the shadows, eyes flickering with uncertainty.
The stronger Xiu Jie Ming became, the more problematic he would be for them in the future.
Chen Guan also marveled at the power of the Celestial Escape Sword Technique. This flying sword-like skill appeared more graceful and agile than the Pure Yang Sword Immortal’s abilities, and its attack power seemed not much weaker than that of the Pure Yang Sword Immortal.
However, Chen Guan also understood that although the Celestial Escape Sword Technique was formidable, it ultimately wasn’t as comprehensive as the Pure Yang Sword Immortal’s techniques.
After all four Huangquan ghost generals were slain, the once tidal wave-like Huangquan ghost warriors suddenly disappeared without a trace, leaving the Imperial Mausoleum Garden empty.
The soldiers who were engaged in battle maintained various odd poses, yet their opponents were already nowhere to be found.
Chen Guan squinted slightly, noticing a figure emerging from the mist on the stone platform.
Xiu Jie Ming raised a hand, signaling for the corps to halt their attack and maintain a defensive formation.
All eyes turned to the figure on the stone platform, and as it gradually came into focus, the crowd finally saw clearly. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Emerging from the mist was a female Huangquan ghost general clad in profound armor.
Wearing a set of profound armor, a sword at her waist, holding a spear reversed in one hand, she stood in the center of the stone platform, her gaze as sharp as a sword, she said coldly, "To enter the Emperor’s Tomb and receive the Supreme Emperor’s legacy, you must first pass this trial of mine."
The crowd exchanged glances, not expecting to encounter a high-wisdom secret spirit here, nor that there was some sort of legacy inside this large tomb.
"Who is the great emperor buried in this tomb?" Xiu Jie Ming asked while looking at the female ghost general.
"Netherworld Emperor." The female ghost general answered.
This answer shocked everyone, as anyone familiar with the Beimang Mountain Secret Realm knew that there were many mysterious relics within it related to the Netherworld Emperor.
Many people had obtained powerful legacies and benefits from those relics.
Yet to this day, no one knew what kind of secret spirit the Netherworld Emperor really was.
Some even suspected that the Netherworld Emperor was not a secret spirit of the Beimang Mountain Secret Realm at all, but a higher-level secret spirit whose relics were merely scattered here.
It was unexpected that this large tomb would be the resting place of such a figure.
"So this is the tomb of the Netherworld Emperor?" Hu Quan was also greatly surprised, as he had naturally heard about the Netherworld Emperor.
In fact, besides the Beimang Mountain Secret Realm, there were other Blessed Lands and Grotto Heavens where mysterious relics related to the Netherworld Emperor had been discovered.
This secret spirit’s origins were still unknown, and his whereabouts uncertain, so it was unexpected to find his resting place in this Blessed Land.
"How does one pass this trial?" Xiu Jie Ming asked the female ghost general again.
"You simply need to defeat me to pass the trial and enter the Emperor’s Tomb," the female ghost general replied.
Xiu Jie Ming’s gaze swept over the generals: "Who wants to give it a try?"
"I am willing!" The generals responded in unison, clasping their fists.
"Meng Xian, you give it a try," Xiu Jie Ming’s gaze fell upon Meng Xian.
"At your command," Meng Xian responded with a smile, riding out from the ranks. He pulled the reins, and his riding lion horse leapt onto the stone platform.
"How do you wish to battle?" Meng Xian pointed his spear at the female ghost general and asked.
The female ghost general wasted no words, charging at Meng Xian like a ghost.
As she reached close to Meng Xian, she suddenly leapt up, swinging her spear forward, and like a viper leaving its hole, it stabbed at Meng Xian atop his horse.
"Courting death!" Meng Xian scoffed coldly, simultaneously maneuvering his riding lion horse while brandishing his spear wildly towards the female ghost general in the air.
His riding skill and spear technique were impeccable; only Zhu Hongzhi in the Qilin Corps could compete with him in riding and spear craft.
The female ghost general, in mid-air, appeared to have no means of recovering, seemingly only able to retreat her spear to block Meng Xian’s attack.
Yet the female ghost general did not retract her spear out of self-preservation; her body moved eerily three feet sideways in mid-air, not only avoiding Meng Xian’s strike but also driving her spear towards Meng Xian who had already steered his horse aside.
Meng Xian quickly retracted his spear to parry the female ghost general’s stabbing spear, but his spear broke with a single strike from her spear.
Meng Xian, terrified, somersaulted off the horse and fell, while his riding lion horse was beheaded by the female ghost general’s spear, dying on the spot.
