Chapter 48: Amazing

What he was seeing was shocking.

Someone who had just begun to learn how to create Arkanometric Fabrics and whose knowledge was not yet deep in it had caused a Magical Reaction, also called Magical Overexposure of Specialized Threads.

This was not difficult for those mages who had already deepened their understanding of Magic; in fact, Magical Overexposure of Specialized Threads is a tactic used by Investigating Mages to make new discoveries of magic.

Because of this, Hardrial couldn’t help but feel that he was looking at someone with an amazing talent, perhaps one never seen before.

’Not only did he create his first Fabric within hours of seeing it, but now he even seems to have learned about Magical Reaction so quickly. Not even 24 hours have passed.’

He couldn’t look away from Louis. His attention was fully focused on what he would do next.

Meanwhile...

Louis was in a race against time.

The day was ending at 10 a.m. It was already past 8:15, and he still hadn’t completed a crucial part of the Fabric.

He didn’t have much time.

But he was so focused that he forgot about the passage of time.

He moved his hands boldly over the paper, with amazing speed and an impressive level of expertise that neither Hardrial nor Laura expected to see in him at this point.

In just 15 minutes, he had gone through the final part. Occasionally, he would look up to take in his surroundings, causing Hardrial to frown even more

’That’s right. We Mage Investigators need specialized scientific machinery to be able to see Magical Overexposure, but he... can already see them naturally.’ His mind buzzed with astonishment.

’He has the potential to be the greatest Research Mage to ever set foot on this Lasteryon.’

Her eyes flashed, and even his stomach churned. This was...

Dangerous.

Far too dangerous.

The world was not peaceful for Mage Investigators.

He knew that better than anyone. The only reason he was still alive was because, besides being a Mage specializing in Assassination, being an Armamentalist, the other reason was that he was strong.

If he weren’t strong, the conservatives would have killed him long ago.

’I have to hide him.’ He thought.

While he was immersed in his thoughts, 5 minutes passed....

Louis made amazing progress in those five minutes. A wealth of information entered his mind, making him more versatile in the creation. Thanks to this, he could easily understand how to transmit and specialize the Threads. He simply had to use his Mana and Intention, a mental force strengthened by Intelligence, to move the wind in the surroundings.

Doing this outdoors was better, but a small smile tugged softly at his lips as he realized that doing it here was no problem.

Of course, what problem could there be when he had just created numerous magical wind patterns in the environment? Even though the wind hitting the surroundings was very passive and not so obvious, it was still possible for him to use it.

So... Just 5 minutes later, he gently raised his hand. He was shaking a little, out of nervousness.

’It should be the same...’ He thought.

And soon...

The light in the Fabric brightened. A soft wind shivered over the room from that spot, and a magical demand came out of his body.

He couldn’t help but smile.

Without hesitation, he pulled out his pistol and the other Fabric he had made in the early morning. He then reloaded the gun and used the magic pattern created on it.

First, he wanted to see the water’s function.

He aimed at another of the Classroom chairs and fired.

This time, the shot didn’t sound like a gunshot; it was affected by the water in the bullet. The sound was hollow and even muffled, but the velocity was amazing. The water seemed to solidify with the wind and the bullet’s velocity, but it was only an illusion.

When it hit, there was no penetration. This magic bullet had no force to it.

Instead, water came out, scattering sideways in a ring shape, enveloping the target and slowing it down. It did damage, yes, it was impact damage as if the target had fallen backwards into a large pool.

But it was not penetration damage.

Its primary function was to slow the target.

And it succeeded.

Louis quickly grabbed the other Arkanometric Fabric and reloaded the gun. Within seconds, he was able to fire again. It was slow, but there was nothing he could do.

This time...

The sound was thunderous.

BAM*

It was transmitted through the air and deafened the surroundings. Even Laura had to cover her ears to withstand the impact it would give her eardrums.

The bullet was powerful, much more powerful than fire. It did not burn. But it did slow down and shattered everything in its path.

The chair and table that had been stopped by the water soon fell into pieces, scattered throughout the room. The force of the impact even slammed fiercely against the wall behind.

Winds fluttered around the room, messing up the curtains and so on.

’A force with a lot of penetration, fulfilling the functions of the wind...’ He smiled. ’Magic... It’s impressive and exciting.’

He looked back at the two who were stunned behind him.

Hardrial stared at him as if deep in thought.

While Laura...

She took several steps forward, with a strange joy.

"You’ve learned all three Fabric in such a short time..." She said as she approached the places affected by the magic.

"And they are so powerful." She was impressed, to the point where she couldn’t believe it.

Louis smiled, completely happy. "It looks like it. In less than 24 hours, " he stressed.

He was looking at his system.

[Mission: Learn the Three Basic Arkanometric Fabrics in 24 Hours, has been completed.]

There was still a little over one hour to go before the 24 hours were up. Having completed it in extremis was very reassuring for him. Also, with all his magical learning and what he had recently discovered, he seemed to see that his Path in Magic would be amazing.
