Chapter 242: Chapter 252: Beyond Saving

"Boss, the items I bought clearly cost fifteen yuan and sixty cents, and I gave you twenty," Fang Yi said as he held a plastic bag in front of a convenience store, dressed in a T-shirt, beach shorts, and flip-flops, looking every inch the part of an ordinary townsman. "You owe me four yuan and forty cents, so why did you only give me four yuan? There’s still forty cents missing."

The convenience store owner, flustered, replied, "Isn’t it just forty cents? Here, take fifty cents instead." Saying that, the owner took out a fifty-cent note.

Fang Yi took it, pocketed it, and walked away from the store. The owner muttered curses under his breath behind him, but Fang Yi didn’t care. Wasn’t forty cents still money?

Whether Fang Yi liked something or not dictated his purchasing behavior completely; it wasn’t about the amount. If he liked it, he wouldn’t mind spending forty or even four hundred thousand yuan just for the satisfaction. But if he didn’t like something, he wouldn’t take it even if it was free.

Fang Yi had bought peanuts, beer, and a pack of cigarettes. Returning to his residential complex, he suddenly noticed a red Audi parked below, looking vaguely familiar.

As he reached his apartment, he could hear loud laughter from next door. Though muffled by the door, Fang Yi could distinctly recognize it as Shen Xiaoxiao’s. Who else could laugh like that?

Fang Yi turned around and knocked on the door, which was immediately opened by Cai Cai.

"Uncle, you’re back! There are two beautiful aunts looking for you," said Cai Cai.

Hmm? Could it really be Binnan who had come?

What’s meant to be will come. Fang Yi entered with his purchases.

In the living room, Shen Xiaoxiao sat on the sofa, barefoot and relaxed as if she were at her own home. Next to her sat Lin Lin, expressionless, clearly unamused by Shen Xiaoxiao’s loud laughter. However, Shen Xiaoxiao laughed boisterously, oblivious to anyone else.

Shen Xiaoxiao quickly noticed Fang Yi, dropped the remote control, and lunged at him like a bolt of lightning.

Fang Yi winced as he felt pain in his chest; Shen Xiaoxiao had practically headbutted him. There was no escaping it—had Fang Yi actually dodged, Shen Xiaoxiao might have ended up in the hospital the next moment.

"Ha ha," Shen Xiaoxiao laughed, her laughter ringing like bells.

"What are you laughing at," Fang Yi said with faux severity. "You think this is a bullfight in Spain? You almost killed me."

"Chill out. If you had died, I would have gotten you a coffin and burnt incense for you..."

Seeing her spouting nonsense, Fang Yi ignored her and looked toward the kitchen instead.

"No need to look, big sis is there in the kitchen," Shen Xiaoxiao said.

"Did you coax her to come?" Fang Yi asked.

Puffing out her barely mature chest, a step above an airport runway, Shen Xiaoxiao said seriously, "Of course not. It was all her idea. I couldn’t stop her. One day apart feels like three autumns. She’s been missing you to the point of tears."

Fang Yi rolled his eyes at her, "Yeah, right. Keep exaggerating."

Turning around, Fang Yi placed the items on the table, took out a pack of Hongta Mountain cigarettes he had bought for ten yuan, lit one, and headed toward the kitchen.

Just as he reached the kitchen entrance, Binnan emerged from inside, nearly bumping into him.

Fang Yi looked down to see Binnan holding a basket, with a Chinese lettuce and a kitchen knife in it, apparently planning to prepare food in the living room.

Here was the CEO of Longtu Group, peeling vegetables in a small kitchen—if others knew about this, their eyes would pop out.

Binnan’s face was unreadable, always stern, as she coolly asked, "You’re back?"

Already accustomed to her aloof demeanor but knowing her warm heart, Fang Yi smiled and responded, "Yes, I’m back. Peeling vegetables, huh? Want to join?"

Binnan said, "No need."

Thus, Fang Yi stepped aside, and Binnan walked out of the kitchen.

Fang Yi entered the kitchen and saw Xia Ziqi busily working.

Xia Ziqi leaned against the counter, chopping vegetables. She wore light blue jeans that sculpted her long, voluptuous legs and perfectly showed off the curves of her peach-shaped bottom, slightly uplifted. freёnovelkiss-com

Her upper body was clad in a black tank top, with an apron tied around her. She held a soup spoon, tinkering with a pot of soup, appearing serious, virtuous, and graceful, filled with the essence of a housewife. Yet, she exuded the demeanor of a married woman, tender and captivating.

Feeling observed, Ziqi hastily turned around. Upon seeing Fang Yi by the door, possibly due to the kitchen’s heat, her pretty face blushed, tinged with a slight color of embarrassment.

"What are you cooking? It smells amazing. Let me taste," Fang Yi said with a smile as he walked over.

Ziqi quickly grabbed a porcelain bowl, scooped up half a bowl of soup, and handed it to Fang Yi, saying, "I stewed some pig’s trotter soup. Try it and see if it’s good."

Fang Yi smiled and said, "I’d love to drink it, but it looks a bit hot."

Hesitating for a moment, Ziqi held the bowl up to herself, pursed her delicate lips, and blew on the hot pig’s trotter soup in the bowl. Feeling it was about right, she then handed it to Fang Yi.

Fang Yi then smiled, accepted it, and said, "Ziqi, you’re so capable. If I could marry you, I’d probably wake up laughing from my dreams."

Ziqi’s face turned even redder, she shyly lowered her head and whispered softly, "I’m not as good as you say..."

As if the tenderness and timidity of her lowering her head swayed Fang Yi’s heart, half a bowl of pig’s trotter soup satisfied him immensely, proclaiming it a world-class delicacy that he could drink every day.

Hearing such praise, Ziqi smiled happily and said, "Alright, I’ll make it every day."

"By the way, Ziqi, the thing I mentioned last time has been settled," Fang Yi said.

"Opening a clothing store?"

Fang Yi nodded, adding, "These past few days, I looked around and found a transferrable shop, right in the heart of the downtown area. When you have time, let’s go check it out together."

Ziqi quickly nodded, her face glowing as she gave a firm hmm.

Coming out of the kitchen, Fang Yi saw Binnan peeling a lettuce root, while Shen Xiaoxiao and the mentally mature Lin Lin watched TV on the couch, with Cai Cai keeping them company.

Fang Yi pulled out a chair and sat opposite Binnan.

Binnan peeled slowly, and Fang Yi watched anxiously, worried that Binnan’s delicate fingers might get cut by the rough kitchen knife, and he couldn’t help but click his tongue in concern. Binnan eventually couldn’t stand it, put the half-peeled lettuce and the knife in the basket, and stared straight at Fang Yi.

"What’s up? Want to fight?" Fang Yi joked.

"Is bullying a woman that amusing?" Binnan retorted.

"I’m used to bullying. Haven’t bullied you for a long time, so I couldn’t help myself when I saw you," Fang Yi laughed. "Let me help."

"Whatever," Binnan responded coldly.

Fang Yi took the vegetable basket and knife, peeled the lettuce skin and leaves swiftly, and then placed them in the basket. Smiling towards Binnan, he boasted, "How’s that? Impressive, right?"

Binnan crossed her arms, lifted her chin as if looking at the ceiling: "You’re hopeless."
