Chapter 1132: A Different Dilemma (3).

The feeling of soaring through the wind was drowned out by the pain of the stinging needles of compressed air smacking into his flesh.

Cain had to activate {Wind Weaver} to block out the violent streams of turbulence as Ruby cut through the desolate plains.

For miles on end, there was only rocks to be seen. However, with his eyes, he could see that the entire place was still teeming with life, just much smaller than regular eyes could take notice of.

Leaning against Ignis’ strange, human, yet not quite human body, Cain couldn’t help but relish in its springiness. She has to keep him stable on Ruby’s back or else, just the force of the motion would have been enough to tear him to shreds.

"So the reason you are like this is because of a mission from the system?" Ignis said, confusion written all over her face.

Cain sighed and nodded,

"It’s a bit complicated, but for the next month, I’ll be as weak as a leaf blowing in a violent storm. In return, by magical ability has increased tremendously."

Ignis raised a brow.

Ruby leapt over a small crater, causing the two on her back to go airborne for a moment.

A look of panic appeared in Cain’s eyes as he experienced weightlessness for some time.

However, Ignis acted quickly, grabbing onto his waist and holding him down.

His face turned red as all the air was squeezed from his lungs.

"T–too much!"

Ignis’ skin darkened as she toned down the pressure.

"Sorry."

Cain sighed in relief when he could finally breathe.

Then he turned his head back slightly,

"Right now, there are a few things I’d like to test, so for now, I’ll have you, Ruby, little Darkie, and Lyos fight on the front lines instead."

Ignis nodded. Then her face fell a bit,

"Are you lumping me together with mere beasts?"

Feeling the arms slowly tightening around his waist, Cain began sweating bullets,

"N–no, it’s not like that. Not like that at all!"

A teasing smile appeared on Ignis’ lips as she leaned in and whispered into his ears,

"Oh? Is that so..."

Cain shivered, wondering what it could be be that she was planning to do.

He quickly tried to change the topic,

"In any case, that’s why you are here. Our goal will be to completely wipe out this den of Mutant Creatures."

Ignis frowned,

"Mutant Creatures, huh..."

Cain nodded seriously,

"There are at least several dozen Tier 2 beasts in there. Perhaps even a Tier 3 beast. This won’t be easy, but it will be worth it."

Ignis nodded, "Do you know what kind of Mutant Creatures they are?"

Cain nodded, "Judging from the surrounding terrain, they are earth and fire attribute Mutant Creatures. I don’t know what animal they mutated from, but it must be some kind of reptile judging from how they look."

Ignis nodded, "With me here, then there’s no need to worry."

Cain grinned, "Don’t you think that’s too arrogant of you?"

Ignis snorted. She had not been idle all this time, after all,

"I am now much stronger than I ever was at my peak in the past. Combined with the new abilities I’ve picked up along the way, I doubt any regular flame can harm me."

Cain shrugged,

"In that case, I’ll trust you not to let me down."

A few minutes later, Ruby began slowing down.

There was a visible shift in the surrounding temperature.

Ignis frowned, "Is that?"

Cain’s expression turned serious,

"Yeah, it is. The changes out here truly are drastic, aren’t they?"

Right before then was a mountain of rocks. Flowing down from these rocks was thick, viscous magma.

Around the mountain was a circular pool of molten earth that fed right back into the depths of the earth.

It looked like a volcano, but it was not. Instead, the source of the heat was the very creatures they had come to hunt.

As Ruby finally came to a halt, Cain caught sight of one of these terrible creatures.

Its head and snout was large. Its limbs were thick and bulky, with scales that looked more like thick metal plates than anything else.

Compared to other reptiles, their limbs weren’t short. This feature made it so that the rather large creatures were largely bipedal, moving on all fours only when swimming through the pools of lava.

The creatures had immense affinity to the flame element, so much so, the heat they gave off of their bodies became great enough to be absorbed by the mound they lived on, turning it into a miniature, artificial volcano.

The skyw as painted darker than usual by the ask, making it the entire place seem more menacing than it was supposed to be.

Cain sighed as he got of fog Ruby with a grunt.

Ignis followed suit then put on her weapons and armor.

The {Alabaster Gauntlets} had been swapped out for a far more imposing gauntlet with spiked ends and sigil of a roaring beast imprinted onto it.

Only her vitals were covered with leather armor while the rest of her body was bare. Cain tore his eyes away from her rather hesitantly.

Ignis sized him up for a moment then turned her gaze away,

"You look... strange. Different from the usual."

Cain looked down at himself.

With his body having gone through extensive changes due to the loss of his physical stats, he was much more lanky than he usually was.

However, the grey robe made sure to enhance his other features, like his impressive height, with the gloves he had on showing off his long fingers.

Ignis’ skin turned dark again as she tore her gaze off.

Cain chuckled dryly,

The {Firesand Nagas} were a rather aggressive species that hunted on the rest of the lowlands, bringing their hunts to their mound after a successful hunt. The mound was also the only high rising natural structure in all the lowlands for as far as the eye could see in all directions.

Since they were extremely violent and territorial, it was a matter of fact that they would instantly notice him the moment he stepped foot in their territory.

With a smirk on his face, Cain took another step forward.

The ground rumbled...
