Chapter 54: Don’t Call Me That!

Word had spread that Roy easily defeated Pierre and the seniors. Eventually, one of the seniors blabbed about the details to their friend, and the picture was fully painted.

Roy had an abyss soul!

That was big news. He had something money and fame couldn’t buy. This meant a plethora of things, like that he was an extremely skilled Initiate at defeating abyss creatures and that he was going places in the future.

Chris was horrified to hear of this. He couldn’t even bring himself to look at Roy, not that the young man really even cared. At least, he told himself he didn’t.

After getting home, Roy spent no idle time and left again with Donald to Master Abraham’s cave.

His first day of training consisted of exercises and sparring with the C-Class Executioner. By eight o’clock, Roy was back home eating dinner.

Pierre didn’t sign in that night, and so sign-in was unavailable for Roy.

At school, Roy was looked upon with reverence, and, strangely, he once glanced at a girl, who looked away with flushed cheeks.

’What on bloody earth are they saying about me again?’ He wondered. But with Chris avoiding him like the plague, he couldn’t find out.

At recess, after Roy had his meal, he yawned and propped his head up with his hand. His mind was always somewhere else anytime he was in school.

School was just a formality now. A box to check before he could move on to what really mattered.

"Hey, Roy! Is it true that you have an abyss soul?" a classmate finally asked. He stood with about six others beside him, all looking at Roy with expectant, yet indignant expressions.

’Should I lie?’ Roy threw his gaze over all of them and answered, "I don’t know what you’re talking about."

They then tried to goad him to confess, but he was adamant about it. Hence, they couldn’t do anything but click their tongues and walk away with grumbling.

It seemed that because of how famous GayRoy was, the shock of his being a skilled Initiate was too much for him not to become a hot topic over the next few days.

Many of his classmates began striking up more conversations with him, even Jane. However, he acted as the most nonchalant, uninterested person ever. He returned their smiles and jokes, but never tried to converse, leading whoever was talking to just notice the lack of energy on his part and excuse themselves.

He always believed that when he got his amazing system, he would relish how important he would be to people. But it all felt hollow once again. Like how he was long before he was granted his sign-in system.

"Roy," a familiar voice called, and Roy raised his head. It was Jane.

"You can’t keep sleeping when the teacher’s in class." She placed a hand on her waist and slammed the other on the table.

She had short, straightened blonde hair and a baby face, with plump cheeks and wide eyes. Roy noted a flowery bangle on her slim wrist, along with uniquely painted fingernails.

"And what do you care?" He asked, not possessing enough social intelligence to know that she was just trying to strike up a conversation, and she really didn’t care about him sleeping in class. Roy couldn’t be blamed, though; this was the consequence of four years of homeschooling with Nana.

If not for Donald putting his foot down for Roy to start going to an actual school, she would’ve run him through his childhood without allowing him to build a social life.

Jane used to be his seatmate in the prior school year—Sophomore year, the year he transferred to this academy. And hence, became his first and only friend.

That was when Pierre started his bullying. Jane always told Pierre off for him. But now she was dating him.

’What a joke,’ Roy thought as he looked up at her. His expression was casual, not at all showing his hatred.

Jane frowned. "Roy, you’re not like this..."

Roy wanted to retort and say something edgy, but he held his tongue and glanced over at Chris. The fat loser was startled and turned his head away.

’Cowards, betrayers, and liars. All of them.’ The truth of the matter had long made him angry, but not anymore. Now he didn’t care. He just wanted them to leave him alone.

He breathed out heavily and answered Jane.

"I was always like this. You just never knew me, I guess."

"You know that’s not true."

"..."

"Can we talk later—"

"Babe. What’s going on?" Pierre called out, walking towards Roy’s desk with his hands in his pockets and a handsome smile.

Jane hadn’t answered when he threw a hand over her shoulders and brought her very close to him.

"Yo, Roy. You good?" Pierre asked, staring at Roy with a sinister note in his expression.

Roy glared daggers at him and clenched his jaws.

Jane frowned at Pierre and whispered to him, "I told you not to call me that in school."

"Yes, yes. I’m sorry, love," Pierre said to her and turned to Roy, who watched the lovebirds in great annoyance. Only God knew the curses he hurled at them in his mind.

"Roy, meet me after school. We have something important to discuss," Pierre casually said.

"Go fuck yourself," Roy said and buried his head in his arms on the desk. He was done entertaining these people.

Pierre’s smile cracked.

"Piggy, are you good?" He removed his arm from Jane’s shoulder and turned to Chris.

"Don’t call him that," Jane said to Pierre.

Chris was a bit shaken, but he nudged his glasses and remained quiet.

Roy raised his head again, a deep crease settling well between his brows.

"Leave him alone," commanded Roy.

Pierre playfully smacked the back of Chris’s head.

"It’s fine. This is just how we joke, right, Piggy?"

Chris shivered in his seat and remained silent. A shadow hovered over his eyes.

Roy observed the fat kid’s mannerisms and noted something different, something ominous, but he couldn’t place his hand on what.

’Something is wrong.’

The realization hit him in a flash. It just felt like back then in Cash God’s office.

Chris mumbled, and Pierre bent closer and laughed. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"What did you say, Piggy?"

Chris huffed and puffed. Thick red and black veins bulged on his neck, going up to his face, and he stood up screaming, "I SAID DON’T CALL ME THAT!"

Roy dived at Jane.

BOOM!

Pierre flew across the classroom and slammed into the wide digital board.

"Aaaaarrghhh!!!"

Chris wailed in agony and anger as his muscles bulged, as he grew to almost seven feet, as his hands became wide enough to crush a skull.
