Chapter 369: Chapter 365: The Departing Wind Spirit

"It’s the Screamers, they seem to be in some kind of slumber. But there’s quite a few of them."

Zhu Wenwu stood at a high vantage point and confirmed.

They saw at least a dozen of these Screamers, gathered like a pride of lions.

"Why don’t we go around them?"

Zhu Wenwu suggested.

Su Changxing shook his head and said, "Let’s deal with them first to avoid any trouble later. We’ll be taking this path back as well."

The Screamers they encountered before had power levels of at least Tier Eight, but were at the bottom of Tier Eight. While they possessed extremely powerful bodies, their attack methods were singular.

Zhu Wenwu observed and said:

"A slight disturbance might alarm all these creatures."

One Screamer wouldn’t be an issue for them, but a dozen could be problematic, especially under these circumstances.

"It’s not a big problem."

Su Changxing thought for a moment and took out the Shadow Bow from his backpack.

The Shadow Bow’s power wasn’t enough for the Screamers, but with the augmenting effect of "Concentrating the Heart," the power would be about enough.

Moreover, having dissected a Screamer’s corpse before, he knew the precise location of the Screamers’ weaknesses.

A shadowy black arrow appeared in his hand; Su Changxing nocked the bow and aimed for the middle of the nearest Screamer’s back.

[Concentrating the Heart: 300%]

He had high proficiency with the abilities acquired from the store.

"Concentrating the Heart" was actually very dangerous.

Even a slight mental agitation could cause the power to go out of control, surpassing the multiplier Su Changxing could handle.

Twenty times was his limit, able to unleash only one strike; at thirty times, certain death awaited him.

A multiplication of two or three times didn’t consume much energy for him and could be used as a regular offensive technique.

A faint glow emerged on the arrow as it shot out into the air.

"Whish~"

The Screamer’s body shuddered slightly before it became still, purple blood trickled out from the hollow in its back, soaking the white ash that covered its body.

"Is it dead?"

Zhu Wenwu turned to look at Su Changxing.

Su Changxing nodded, "It’s dead, the heart of the Screamer is their power core, resembling a bio-robot."

Then, he released six or seven more arrows, and one after another, the Screamers silently died, with the others unaware of their companions’ demise.

Until Su Changxing killed the tenth Screamer, several piercing screeches echoed from afar.

They finally sensed something unusual, and the remaining four or five Screamers rushed over, stirring up clouds of white ash.

A barrage of gunfire erupted, smoke trailing from the barrels, and the remaining ones all fell under his gunfire.

Looking at the corpses lying before them, Su Changxing said, "Let’s move on. Keep an eye on your stamina."

The Screamers’ hearts could be used as material for advancement, but they didn’t have time to waste and had to decisively abandon them.

What wasn’t a long journey felt exceedingly protracted; the shimmer in his hand sparkled more radiant than before, as if delivering a warning.

They could see the steel gates of the energy station from afar, ten meters high, split down the middle, with the upper half missing.

Mysterious noises emanated continuously from within, like wind whipping through a narrow gorge, clashing and scraping against the rocky walls.

Despite many unexpected challenges, the journey was relatively smooth. They had at least reached this point, with victory within sight!

Zhu Wenwu suddenly turned pale, his pupils dilated as he stopped and whispered:

"Brother Su... there are a lot of monsters in there, lots and lots."

What kind of sight was that?

On the ground, beneath the eaves, and on the walls were black, bizarrely shaped creatures, moving silently like cats.

"A lot?"

Su Changxing furrowed his brows, sensing the anomaly inside, though the environment seemed to throw his perception into disarray.

Somewhat at a loss, Zhu Wenwu said:

"Yeah, I’m afraid there might be close to a hundred just behind the gate. This is the breeding ground for those monsters... what do we do now?"

A hundred or so?

They weren’t sure of these monsters’ strength levels; even if they weren’t as strong as Screamers, they’d still pose a great challenge.

They’d just have to try.

Su Changxing decided to use the same method he used to eliminate the Screamers to clear these creatures. Arrows were certainly enough, but he wasn’t sure if he could ensure a kill with every shot.

They tread cautiously towards the gate, careful not to alarm the creatures within. At this moment, their breathing was the most audible sound.

"What’s that?"

Su Changxing noticed something white concealed beneath the ash in front of the gate, slender white fur standing out distinctly.

It resembled a gigantic fox.

[Corrupted Wind Spirit: Wind Spirit, fox-like, delicate and pure creature with innate wind control abilities... When a creature like this becomes corrupted, it spells doom for the world.]

All of a sudden, a gale roared, stirring up the white ash.

The fox-like creature turned to look at them; beneath its decayed face were clear bluish eyes, brimming with clarity and wisdom.

Su Changxing froze his finger on the trigger, distinctly feeling the creature’s benevolence.

They stared at each other for over ten seconds before it suddenly dashed towards the steel gates, its body transforming into a shadow, carrying away the gale.

"What’s it doing?"

Zhu Wenwu showed a puzzled expression; he expected the creature to attack them, not run away.

Was it scared?

Su Changxing pondered and said, "Probably not. It possesses intelligence akin to humans, but harbors no animosity towards us."

Then, a soaring howl echoed from the front, resonating amidst the gales.

The howl was like a declaration of war, throwing the entire energy station into chaos. In the next moment, a horde of fleshly, alien monsters poured out from the steel gates, charging towards the Wind Spirit.

A hundred or so.

The Wind Spirit glanced back at them before turning and running in another direction, leading away the rampaging, various-sized creatures.

It diverted the creatures at the gate, seemingly having waited all along for them, or perhaps for anyone, to come.

"Let’s go, we’re going in."

Su Changxing said.

This was their best chance.

As they reached the gate, a small, black creature lunged from above, accompanied by a ticking sound.

Zhu Wenwu deftly pierced the creature’s forehead with his sword, impaling its entire body and drawing out black blood.

"Bang~"

The creature’s body abruptly exploded.

Zhu Wenwu didn’t have time to dodge, blocking with his arm while falling back, bracing himself against the explosive force.
