Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence-Chapter 251 - 245: Eternal Giant Turtle
"Such crude methods."
Raylo gently stroked the feathers on Baofeng’s neck, soothing his restless mount.
On the saddle, Moonlight opened her pale-gold eyes. Her nostrils twitched, her gaze filled with clear disdain.
She could sense the intense corrosiveness and neurotoxicity within the poison below. For any ordinary creature, it would be an unmitigated disaster.
Poison Fang was clearly trying to use this most direct and savage method to flush his target out of hiding.
The Demon Serpent Legion on the riverbank let out waves of triumphant roars and cheers.
However, these cheers did not last long.
In the center of the calm, venom-soaked river, a huge bulge of water abruptly formed.
The bulge rose higher and higher, growing ever wider, as if the riverbed itself were being thrust upward by an unrivaled, colossal force.
The next moment, with a deafening ROAR, the surface of the water was violently torn asunder.
A "small mountain" slowly rose from the Black Water River.
That was no mountain, but the shell of a giant turtle.
A shell as ancient and vast as a mountain range, covered in the ravages of time and layers of moss.
The part exposed above the water alone was hundreds of meters across, like a moving island.
The Eternal Giant Turtle!
It had finally appeared.
As the shell rose, an impossibly massive head emerged from the water.
Its skin was like the toughest rock, and its millstone-sized eyes showed no anger, only an ancient, unchanging indifference and majesty.
It glanced at the murky water, then at the clamoring Demon Serpent Legion on the bank. A low, long rumble emanated from deep within its throat.
The sound was unlike that of any living creature; it was more like the resonant grinding of tectonic plates, making the very earth tremble.
The Lizardfolk and Snake-men on the bank were stunned by this imposing presence. Their cheers died abruptly, replaced by fear and panic.
The Eternal Giant Turtle moved.
It merely adjusted its posture slightly, and its island-like back heaved upward.
An unimaginable force was exerted upon the entire Black Water River.
A ten-meter-high wall of water was violently heaved up from the riverbed!
WHOOSH!
A massive tsunami swept across the entire north bank with devastating force.
The Eternal Giant Turtle had turned that wall of death, formed from the poisoned river water, into a weapon, sending it crashing back toward its creators.
The Lizardman Shamans at the forefront of the riverbank, who had been casting the spell, were swallowed by the massive wave before they could even scream.
The poison mist they took such pride in seemed utterly laughable now.
A hoarse roar exploded within the Demon Serpent Legion.
An exceptionally tall Lizardman powerhouse with dark purple skin stepped forward, wielding a massive Poison Fang Staff.
He was the commander of the "Poison Fang" combat group, the Tier Five Domain Powerhouse, Poison Fang.
Facing the monstrous, onrushing wave, Poison Fang slammed his staff heavily into the ground.
"Plague Domain!"
VMMM!
A translucent, dark-green Light Shield erupted from him, expanding rapidly. It was like a giant bowl turned upside down, securely protecting him and the core troops within a several-hundred-meter radius.
The toxic wave slammed against the Light Shield, creating a dull boom and sending up a spray of black water, but it failed to penetrate in the slightest.
But the range of the Domain was limited.
There were over a thousand Lizardman Warriors outside the Domain who hadn’t had time to retreat.
They were as insignificant as ants before the ten-meter-high wall of water.
The massive wave, carrying immense force, easily swept them up and tossed them into the air. The CRACK of breaking bones was drowned out by the roar of the water.
Then, they were slammed back down to the ground, mixed in with mud, splinters, and rubble, before being swept into the distance by the torrent.
The deadly poison within the current left them with almost no chance of survival.
In just one blow, the Demon Serpent Legion suffered heavy losses.
High above, Ed, Raylo’s Personal Guard Captain, saw the scene through a gap between the Griffins and couldn’t help but gasp.
"Sir... this..."
"This is the power of a Tier Five Peak creature."
Raylo remarked with a sigh.
"It hasn’t even truly started attacking yet."
The giant wave stirred up by the Eternal Giant Turtle had almost emptied the entire Black Water River.
All the filthy, poisoned water had been cast ashore, washing over the Demon Serpent’s formations.
Meanwhile, clear water from upstream rushed in, quickly refilling the dry riverbed.
In the blink of an eye, the Black Water River returned to its original clarity, as if the apocalyptic scene from before had never happened.
Only the devastation on the bank and the lingering toxic gas in the air served as proof of what had just transpired.
Across the wide river, the Eternal Giant Turtle’s millstone-sized eyes met Poison Fang’s, who stood within his Domain.
It showed no intention of coming ashore, merely floating silently in the water, its massive body a world unto itself.
It had clearly dealt with the Demon Serpent’s lackeys before and knew its advantage was in the water, while its opponent’s was on land.
Poison Fang’s face was ashen.
His carefully planned first offensive had not only failed to harm his target in the slightest, but had also cost him his own troops, turning the whole affair into a joke.
Both sides thus fell into a stalemate.
One in the water, one on the shore; neither was willing to step into the other’s domain of advantage.
"Sir, what do we do now...?"
Ed urged his Griffin closer and asked in a low voice.
"Wait."
Raylo uttered a single word.
His gaze swept over the rear of the Demon Serpent Legion.
In the rear, another, better-equipped and more bloodthirsty unit, the "Blood River" combat group, had yet to make a move.
"This old turtle is smarter and more patient than I thought. And the Demon Serpent Legion’s methods are by no means limited to this," Raylo said calmly.
"Let them continue. Only when they have played all their cards will it be time for us to intervene."
"Black Stone Territory is not some expendable resource for this war; it is the decisive force that will determine its outcome."
"And for that, we need the right moment."
Ed nodded firmly and said no more. He simply rested his hand back on the hilt of his sword, his gaze fixed on the battlefield before them.
High in the sky, the wind whistled.
In a hidden ravine far behind the main army, the hundred-meter-long body of Golden Dragon Sun lay coiled, its huge golden eyes half-closed as if it were dozing.
In its perception, every violent fluctuation of Magic Power on the battlefield ahead was as clear as a bonfire in the night.
The stalemate did not last long.
A commotion came from the rear of the Demon Serpent Legion, and a unit completely different from the Lizardfolk slowly pushed forward.
Their upper bodies were humanoid torsos covered in fine scales, while their lower bodies were thick serpentine tails that slithered across the ground with a grating SSSHHH sound.
The leader was a Snake-man powerhouse, larger than the rest of his kind. His serpentine tail was nearly ten meters long, its knotted muscles brimming with explosive Power.
He wore no Armor. His bare upper body was covered in menacing, blood-red Magic Patterns, and he carried a vicious War Spear crafted from spinal bones and snake fangs.
He slithered up beside the ashen-faced Poison Fang, his forked, scarlet tongue flicking as he let out a mocking hiss.
"Poison Fang, it seems your little tricks don’t work very well on that old turtle."
Poison Fang glanced at him, a trace of anger appearing on his dark purple face, but did not retort.
Under the Demon Serpent’s command, strength is everything.
His recent failure had cost him the right to argue back.
