Chapter 239: Chapter 233: Journey Encounters and Sun’s Confusion

Coal Ball seemed to have discovered a new continent.

Using its spatial jump ability, it started a game of hide-and-seek on Sun’s back.

It would pop its head out from under the left wing one moment, then instantly reappear at the base of the tail the next, treating the tip of Sun’s Dragon Tail like a cat toy and pouncing around with glee.

At first, Sun was a little uncomfortable and tried to maintain his dignity as a Knight.

But soon, the playful roughhousing of the two little ones wore him down.

Especially when Moonlight climbed onto his head and swept its soft tail across his forehead. A pleasant, tingling sensation made him involuntarily narrow his eyes in comfort.

He had no idea that the two little rascals playing on his back were Giant Dragons, just like him.

Raylo watched the scene, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

To outsiders, Moonlight’s greatest powers were its incredibly realistic Clone Magic and the Dragon Mighty that could make any Magical Beast submit to it.

But only Raylo knew the truth: the little one’s true pinnacle of skill was its Transformation and Concealment Magic.

The combination of these two types of Magic made it the ultimate master of disguise.

Even now, the powerful Tier Five Golden Dragon, Sun, who was right beside it, merely saw it as a large white cat with some peculiar Magic Abilities.

Raylo’s gaze returned to Sun.

Knighting a Giant Dragon was unheard of in the entire history of the Continent.

Many people thought he was mad, believing he was asking a tiger for its own hide.

Raylo had heard that people were already placing bets in gambling dens on when the Golden Dragon would claim Black Stone Territory as its lair and Raylo as its servant.

But that wasn’t how Raylo saw it.

From the moment Sun had chosen to accept the title, shedding hot tears for the Knight Order he had won, Raylo had resolved to give him true respect.

Sun saw himself as a Knight and possessed immense pride.

Therefore, Raylo would never treat him as a mere mount. Instead, he saw him as the most powerful and unique Knight under his command.

What he wanted was an ally to fight alongside, a partner with both wisdom and strength—not simply a mount for flaunting his might.

Sensing Raylo’s gaze, Sun turned his massive head, a hint of a question in his pale golden eyes.

Moonlight and Coal Ball stopped their roughhousing on his back and looked over in unison.

Raylo simply smiled and gestured for them to continue onward.

On the horizon ahead, the Cloud Sea churned, vast and boundless.

At the squadron’s current speed, the flight from Black Stone Territory to Baisha Port, on the southwestern coast of the Duchy, would take nearly three days.

Tedious, long-distance flights were routine for the Knights.

On the afternoon of the first day, they passed over a vast, primeval forest.

Below, a hunt was underway.

Several massive Saber-toothed Giant Tigers were surrounding a lone Iron-backed Earth Dragon.

The Earth Dragon was over twenty meters long, its body covered in a thick, ochre-colored carapace. Each lash of its tail cracked the earth and sent clouds of dust billowing into the air.

The Saber-toothed Giant Tigers, however, displayed the cunning and patience of apex predators. Using their superior speed and numbers, they repeatedly inflicted bone-deep wounds on the Earth Dragon, yet always managed to narrowly evade its lethal counterattacks.

The thick stench of blood was palpable, even from high in the sky.

Sun let out a low growl, his pale golden eyes filled with indignation and anger.

According to his knightly code, ganging up on an opponent like this was dishonorable.

He instinctively began to lower his altitude, intending to "dispense justice."

"Don’t move, Sun."

Raylo’s voice rang out.

Sun’s massive body froze in midair. He turned his head toward Raylo, his eyes filled with confusion.

"This is the Law of nature, Sun."

Raylo gazed at the battlefield below.

"There is no knightly honor or fairness in the forest’s struggle for survival. There are only hungry hunters and desperate prey. We are merely passing by, not acting as Judicial Officers."

"The code of a Knight cannot be applied to everything!"

Sun fell silent.

He watched as the Earth Dragon below shed its last drop of blood and collapsed with a thunderous crash. He watched as the Saber-toothed Giant Tigers swarmed it and began to tear at its flesh.

For the first time, confusion and contemplation about the Law of the world flickered within his enormous golden eyes.

On the second day, they witnessed another conflict.

It was in a barren, hilly region at the border between two human territories.

Hundreds of soldiers in blue and green uniforms, wielding crude Weapons, were engaged in a primitive, bloody battle over an exposed iron deposit.

There were no clever tactics, no duels between Knights—only the chaotic clang of blades and hoarse, desperate screams.

Sun merely watched in silence. This time, he felt no urge to intervene.

’Raylo’s words from yesterday had given him much to think about.’

’He was beginning to realize that the world was far more complex than he had imagined.’

On the evening of the third day, as the salty sea air of Baisha Port became faintly detectable, a scene below the squadron thoroughly ignited the Golden Dragon Knight’s fury.

It was a small village where dozens of club-wielding soldiers were swaggering about in the central clearing.

They were brutally dragging half-filled sacks of grain from the villagers’ homes and snatching their last few laying hens. Any sign of resistance was met with a flurry of kicks and punches.

A bloated man in ornate silks, his face fleshy and cruel, sat on a chair that had been hastily brought out for him. He gnawed on a piece of fruit as he watched his men’s brutality, occasionally letting out a smug cackle.

A nobleman’s crest was pinned to his chest.

"ROAR!"

A draconic roar, filled with boundless fury, exploded over the village like a clap of thunder.

Sun didn’t even wait for Raylo’s command. His golden form plummeted like a Meteorite, descending with a scream that tore through the air.

He had not forgotten Raylo’s teachings, nor his own principles as a Knight.

’Punish evil, but do not kill unless absolutely necessary.’

BOOM!

Sun’s massive body landed heavily in the center of the clearing, the hurricane-force winds it kicked up sending the soldiers scattering.

He used no Dragon Breath, nor did he bare his claws. He simply whipped his tail.

The golden-scaled Dragon Tail moved like the most precise of Battle Hammers, swatting the dozens of soldiers away one by one.

They screamed as they tumbled to the ground. Bones were broken, but their lives were spared.

The Baron was so frightened he tumbled right out of his chair. The fruit in his hand fell into the mud, instantly coated in filth.

He raised his head in terror, staring at the Giant Dragon before him—a creature that seemed forged from pure Gold. As he met its pale golden eyes, which burned with fury, a sudden warmth spread through his trousers.

"You... you monster..."

The Baron’s voice was shaking uncontrollably.

Sun let out a contemptuous snort, extended a massive claw, and flicked a knuckle.

SMACK!

The Baron went flying like a flicked stone, carving a pathetic arc through the air before plunging headfirst into a nearby pigsty, sending a spray of filth into the air.

Raylo and the four Griffin Knights slowly descended.

Baofeng landed steadily beside Sun. Raylo hopped off his back, surveyed the chaotic scene, then glanced at Sun, who was practically radiating the Light of Justice. He shook his head with a resigned sigh.

The Baron finally managed to crawl out of the pigsty, covered in mud and pig droppings, looking utterly wretched.
