Chapter 112: Chapter 108: The Dragon Descendant Knight Inheritance

The inheritance was incredibly detailed. It not only included a Knight’s Breathing Technique called the "Giant Dragon Breathing Technique," but more importantly, it also recorded a special Secret Technique.

By absorbing the Essence Blood of the Dragon Race and fusing it with one’s own bloodline, one could gradually alter their physique and ultimately transform into a "Dragon Descendant Knight," possessing a portion of a Giant Dragon’s Power!

The humans in the murals fighting alongside the Giant Dragons against the Giants must be the Dragon Descendant Knights.

Becoming a Dragon Descendant Knight would not only drastically enhance one’s physical attributes and Elemental Resistance, but could even awaken some of a Giant Dragon’s Talent Abilities, such as Dragon Scales, Dragon Mighty, Dragon Wings, and even... the rudiments of Dragon Language Magic!

’Dragon Descendant Knights...’

Raylo’s mind was in turmoil.

Raylo took a deep breath, trying to suppress his excitement.

"Ed, this might be the greatest find of our entire trip. We have to get these Stone Slabs back in one piece."

"Yes!"

Ed immediately acknowledged the order.

Raylo carefully inspected the wall of Stone Slabs one more time. After confirming that nothing was overlooked and that there was no risk of damage, he and Ed cautiously began to dismantle it.

These Stone Slabs weren’t simply stacked; they were fitted together using an ingenious system of mortise and tenon joints.

"Ed, give me a hand. Be careful, these Stone Slabs are priceless."

"Understood, my lord!"

Working together, the two of them removed the Stone Slabs from the wall, one by one.

Each Stone Slab was quite heavy. In the light of the Magic Illumination Stone, the carvings on them remained clear and solid, despite the countless years that had passed.

After nearly two hours, all the Stone Slabs were finally dismantled and stacked neatly to one side.

Raylo counted them. There were exactly twelve.

Ed went outside to cut some vines, which he used to bind the Stone Slabs into several bundles. Then, he and Raylo carried them out.

Raylo and Ed worked together, using tough vines to securely bind the twelve heavy Obsidian Stone Slabs into separate bundles.

Baofeng was waiting at the mouth of the tunnel. It ruffled its tawny Iron Feathers, seeming a bit impatient after the long wait.

"Old friend."

Raylo patted Baofeng’s stout neck, gesturing for it to lower its body.

The Stone Slabs were precious, but they were also incredibly heavy.

It took a great deal of effort for the two of them to load the bundled Stone Slabs, distributing them on either side of Baofeng’s broad back. They used leather straps and vines to secure the load, making sure it wouldn’t shift or fall during flight.

Baofeng let out a low cry and shook its head, as if testing the added weight. It soon fell silent, though the air huffed from its nostrils with slightly more force.

Raylo nodded in satisfaction, his gaze shifting to the massive corpse of the Mire Crocodile Dragon nearby.

For Black Stone Territory, which was in the process of rebuilding from scratch, every single High Tier Resource was priceless and could not be wasted.

"Ed, take care of that beast."

Raylo ordered.

"Yes, my lord."

Ed assented and drew the Knight’s Longsword from his belt.

The Mire Crocodile Dragon’s Scale Armor was incredibly tough; its hide remained formidable even in death.

Ed first carefully felt around the Crocodile Dragon’s body. Relying on experience, he quickly located its Magic Core.

He took a deep breath, channeled his Fighting Spirit into his blade, and thrust down hard. With a sharp twist, he pried it loose.

With a CRACK, he pried out a fist-sized, diamond-shaped crystal that shimmered with an earthen-yellow halo. It was the Mire Crocodile Dragon’s Magic Core.

Raylo took the Magic Core and felt the pure Earth Elemental Energy contained within. A faint smile touched his lips.

The energy of the Magic Core embedded in the Soul Horn had been depleted in the fight against the Mire Crocodile Dragon, so this was a much-needed replenishment.

Next, Ed sliced a deep gash over the Mire Crocodile Dragon’s heart, deep enough to expose the bone beneath.

Crimson blood, carrying a strangely sweet and coppery scent, gushed from the wound. With swift movements, Ed produced a small Crystal Bottle he had prepared earlier and carefully collected half a vial of the viscous Heart Essence Blood.

"This Crocodile Dragon may be a lesser subspecies, but its bloodline still contains a trace of a dragon’s nature. This Heart Essence Blood might prove useful."

Raylo accepted the Crystal Bottle and stowed it away safely.

He recalled the Secret Technique from the Dragon Knight Inheritance, the one that involved absorbing the Essence Blood of the Dragon Race. Although this Mire Crocodile Dragon’s Essence Blood was impure, it was better than nothing. It might serve as a material for initial research.

The rest of the work was much simpler.

Ed swung his Knight Sword, activated "Giant’s Grip," and began hacking at the Mire Crocodile Dragon’s massive corpse with sheer brute force.

The Crocodile Dragon’s hide, flesh, and bone were far tougher than expected. Each swing of the sword was accompanied by a dull, tearing sound and Ed’s slightly labored breathing.

Even with the aid of "Giant’s Grip," it took Ed a good ten minutes to butcher the Giant Beast into several large pieces.

He had to replace the Magic Stones embedded in the "Giant’s Grip" twice. In a real battle, that would have been a significant disadvantage.

Raylo watched as the Crocodile Dragon’s corpse was cut into six or seven chunks, then signaled for Ed to stop.

Attracted by the scent of blood, the other Storm Griffins circled restlessly, letting out low cries.

"Let them have a taste."

Raylo said with a smile.

Ed understood. He carved one of the chunks of meat into a dozen smaller pieces and tossed them to the Storm Griffins.

The Storm Griffins let out a series of excited screeches and scrambled forward, tearing at the fresh meat with their sharp beaks and claws, letting out contented growls.

A younger Griffin tried to hoard an extra piece, only to be sent stumbling by a swat from the wing of a stronger companion, which made Ed laugh.

"Let’s head back."

Raylo swung himself onto Baofeng’s back, and Ed deftly mounted his own Storm Griffin.

"SCREECH!"

Baofeng let out a high, piercing cry. With a powerful beat of its wings that kicked up a fierce wind, its massive body shot into the air and sped toward Black Stone Castle.

The other Storm Griffins, clutching chunks of the Mire Crocodile Dragon’s corpse in their talons, followed close behind, forming a small squadron.

The return journey was not peaceful.

The flesh of a Tier Four Mire Crocodile Dragon was an irresistible temptation to many Flying Magical Beasts.

They had traveled less than a hundred li from the swamp when several Iron-backed Falcons, drawn by the scent of blood, began to pursue them.

These Iron-backed Falcons were Tier Three Magical Beasts. They were quite large, with wingspans of five to six meters, and they were trying to snatch the meat from the Griffins’ talons.

"Baofeng, drive them off!"

Baofeng let out an enraged roar and accelerated sharply, shooting toward the Iron-backed Falcons like a bolt of tawny lightning.

It swept its wings, generating a sharp gale, and its talons shot out, glinting like cold steel.

The lead Iron-backed Falcon was too slow to dodge. Baofeng’s talons ripped its wing, and it plummeted to the earth in a screaming spiral.

The other Storm Griffins on guard duty, who were not carrying any meat, also surged forward to engage the remaining Iron-backed Falcons.

The Storm Griffins dove and circled, using their sharp talons and beaks to attack their opponents’ weak spots.

The air filled with the shrieks of the great birds and flurries of falling feathers.
