Chapter 186: Chapter 186: Jinx

His wings fluttered as he shifted on her shoulder. He had genuinely believed Lana asked for the yearly contract because she simply wanted freedom from financial worry.

But listening now, he realized she was weaving a web that had covered her from all angles!

Lana tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Once I reach the initial Earth Rank before I graduate from Shadowridge University, doors will open everywhere. I can then progress to Heaven Rank and then Celestial Rank. Once there, I will own a city!"

Mr. Crow stiffened. "Own... a city?" His feathers puffed in disbelief.

"Didn’t you sign the contract because your only goal was to gather resources for Earth Rank?"

Lana lifted her index finger, waving it with a teasing click of her tongue. A sly smile bloomed across her face, sharp and wicked.

"Mm-mm. You assumed that. But based on my calculations?" She tapped her temple lightly. "I can reach Earth Rank within three months."

Mr. Crow almost choked on air. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Lana continued, completely unbothered by his horror.

"So far, every estimation you’ve made for me has underestimated my cultivation speed. I’m much faster than the average mystic cultivator. If I continue taking on various cases, using herbs for breakthroughs, and improving my efficiency... my speed will increase even more."

Mr. Crow felt as if his feathers might fall off one by one.

Lana’s eyes gleamed. "Once I reach Earth Rank in three months, I’ll aim for Heaven Rank within the next six months. And after that..." She inhaled sharply as excitement tingled across her skin. "My goal will be Celestial Rank."

This time, Mr. Crow genuinely swayed, almost losing balance on her shoulder.

The urge to knock on her skull surged through him like an electric current. "Three months to Earth Rank? Six months to Heaven Rank? Lana, this isn’t a fairy tale!"

But Lana only hummed under her breath, completely unbothered by his panic.

"Who said I was telling a fairy tale in the first place anyway? I am telling the truth. Besides, if my plan is correct, then I won’t need Lucian’s help at all!" Lana said with a smug look.

Midway through her sentence, Lana paused and murmured, "How strange, this time even after my breakthrough, I didn’t transform into my silver kitten form."

"Eh? Really? Don’t worry, you will now!" Mr. Crow teased, and Lana whipped her head at Mr. Crow. "No, don’t! Oh..."

The next second, Lana’s body shrank, and Mr. Crow flapped his wings in panic when the support under his feet vanished.

He stared down, and sure enough, he saw Lana in a silver kitten form, looking around with panic.

"Meow! Meow!" Lana barked at Mr. Crow, who understood her words.

’You damn Mr. Crow! Why do you jinx me every time!’

Mr. Crow, on the other hand, froze.

Lana... she looks so cute! Damn cute!

Her blue eyes shimmered like jewels underwater, while her silver fur glimmered under the hallway lights. Due to her anger, her silver whiskers shook, making her look even more adorable.

His heart melted at the sight.

Did he love fluffy things? Never! In fact, Mr. Crow hated them because of their cuteness. But Lana... she aced the form!

He can bet all his feathers that she has the power to even melt a stone with her cuteness.

With those thoughts, he dove near her, intending to pick her up and feel the soft yet luxurious furs, but before he could do so, Lana shone with a bright light, and the next second, she vanished into thin air.

Mr. Crow: (;° ロ°)

"That fucking bastard Lucian! I will kill him!" His enraged voice echoed in the empty hallways.

............

Present.

Lana gave a soft meow to Lucian’s question, then she curiously stared at Lucian’s office. Last time when she had landed on his lap, she was preoccupied with him, but this time, she could finally see his office.

When Lana had joined Lucian in her previous life, she lived in his mansion and operated from there. Hence, she never knew that the office that had been taken away by his uncle was, in fact, once owned by Lucian.

Seeing her curious gaze, Lucian scooped the furry thing in his arms and asked in a casual voice, "Why does it seem like you have lost weight?"

Lana focused her attention on Lucian and leaped toward his shoulders. Like a perfect cat, she landed on his shoulder and inched toward Lucian’s ear.

Opening her mouth, she bit his earlobes with satisfaction.

How dare he scare her! If today she didn’t leave him disheveled, then her name won’t be Lana anymore! If he dares to suspect her, she will take as much advantage as she can!

He must feel pain and...

Midway through her inner monologue, she was held by cold fingers and placed on cold hands.

"Still love to act like a pervert, huh?" Lucian’s blue eyes, laced with amusement, crashed into Lana’s blue ones, who panicked and looked away.

Her heart was beating so fast that she almost had the urge to run away. Lucian’s eyes held a faint trace of recognition, as if he knew who she was.

"I need your help." Lucian’s voice softened slightly. The cute kitten looked so guilty and pitiful that bullying her didn’t seem right...

Why should he put her in constant fear?

Lana whipped her head toward Lucian, looking very serious, as if she was telling him to continue.

"Well..." Lucian paused for a moment, his mind wandering to different thoughts, and an idea appeared in his mind: "I recently acquired a formula; it was worth $1 billion. If you are from the future, surely you should know what it is for, right?"

His voice was filled with a teasing edge, because he knew that Lana wouldn’t know.

After coming in contact with her, he knew that she wasn’t a divinator. Maybe she had investigated him, or maybe she got to know it from Monk Anaro...

Anyhow, she definitely won’t know it.

Lana stared at Lucian in confusion.

A prescription worth $1 billion? Lucian didn’t buy anything like that in her previous life.
