Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All-Chapter 734: Past
Chapter 734: Chapter 734: Past
"From what I know, Yu Holea had spent 15 years of her life in the countryside because she was swapped at birth and hence is good at countryside work. If she hadn’t swapped at birth, she would have been the heiress of the Yu family."
"The richest family of the City S?"
"Correct!"
"Oh! How pitiful!"
"That is not it, the person with whom she was swapped was the illegitimate child of the head of the Yu family."
"What? Are people so brazen nowadays? Didn’t anyone file any complaint?"
"They did! But the swap wasn’t intentional and hence no one was held responsible."
"This sounds like a drama plot!"
The celebrities couldn’t see the comments, so they remained unaffected.
Liu Meiyu sighed dramatically. "Sister Yu, you’re so cool! Look at me, I’m struggling so much!"
Fang Jinhai laughed.
"You’re struggling because you’re doing it wrong! Hold the stalks like this—"
"Ahh! I got mud on my hands!" Liu Meiyu whined.
Zhao Yiran, who was working nearby, rolled her eyes. "It’s just mud. Keep working."
Lin Zhihao, who had been quiet for a while, suddenly spoke up.
"I feel like... something is weird."
Zhao Yiran frowned. "Weird? What do you mean?"
Lin Zhihao shook his head, looking confused. "I don’t know... I just feel like my head is foggy."
Yu Holea’s hands paused.
Before she could think more, the director shouted, "Time’s up!"
Everyone stopped working and stepped back.
The staff brought out scales to weigh the rice each team harvested.
Team by team, they measured the results.
Liu Meiyu and Fang Jinhai: 4.8 kg.
Zhao Yiran and Lin Zhihao: 7.2 kg.
Yu Holea and Xu Tian: 10.5 kg.
The live chat exploded.
"OMG, Yu Holea and Xu Tian are in the first place!"
"Wow, Yu Holea really is a countryside girl. She’s so strong!"
"Even Xu Tian looks impressed!"
Xu Tian turned to Yu Holea and nodded. "You’re good at this."
Yu Holea’s fans however didn’t forget the way she was insulted and started to boost,
"See our Lea is so lucky! Not only did she win, but she carried Xu Tian!"
"Our Baby Lea is amazing!"
Yu Holea smiled.
"Thanks. You’re not bad yourself."
Liu Meiyu pouted.
"Wahh, Sister Yu, you’re so amazing! I wanna be strong like you!"
The director clapped his hands.
"The winner of this round will get the chance to draw a lot for their house. And since Yu Holea and Xu Tian are first they will get to choose their house first!"
Yu Holea and Xu Tian exchanged a look. The staff brought out a box with folded papers inside.
"Yu Holea, you can draw the lot," the director said.
She reached in and pulled out a paper. When she unfolded it, it read: House 1.
A staff member pointed to a cozy wooden house near a small pond. "That’s your house!"
The live chat reacted quickly.
"Wow! That house looks so pretty!"
"They even have a pond? So lucky!"
"I bet Xu Tian will barely talk the whole time. How is Yu Holea going to survive with him?"
The other pairs took turns drawing their lots.
Liu Meiyu and Fang Jinhai got House 3, a small cottage near the rice fields.
Zhao Yiran and Lin Zhihao got House 2, which was near the village entrance.
Once the houses were assigned, the director clapped his hands again. "Alright! Now, you all have one hour to settle into your homes. After that, we will have the next task!"
The teams grabbed their backpacks and started walking toward their houses.
As Yu Holea and Xu Tian walked side by side, neither spoke.
Xu Tian finally broke the silence. "You seem used to village life."
Yu Holea glanced at him and smiled. "Yeah. I grew up in a countryside town."
Xu Tian nodded. "It shows."
Yu Holea tilted her head. "Is that a compliment?"
Xu Tian shrugged. "Just an observation."
The live chat exploded again.
"OMG, Xu Tian actually spoke more than one sentence!"
"Yu Holea is the only one who can make Xu Tian talk, lol."
"Why does this feel like the start of a romance drama?"
"Hey don’t talk nonsense! She is CEO Qiao’s girlfriend!"
"Ceo Qiao? Is he some newbie actor? Can he compare to our Assassin Xu? Impossible!"
"Exactly! Our Assassin Xu is much better than some random newbies."
"Do you even know who Ceo Qiao is?"
At the last question, everyone fell silent.
On the other hand, Yu Holea and Xu Tian soon reached the wooden house. However, Yu Holea paused when she saw the house.
From what she could see the house was clouded in black aura.
"There is a ghost here..." She muttered softly.
Xu Tian who was walking beside her, looked at her with a confused expression,
"What did you say?"
"Nothing." Yu Holea shook her head.
On reaching the house, Xu Tian knocked on the door. Soon the owner of the house opened the door.
The door creaked open, and an old man with gray hair and wrinkled skin stood there.
"You must be the guests," the old man said in a hoarse voice. "Come in."
Yu Holea glanced at the black aura surrounding the house. It swirled like smoke, sticking to the wooden walls.
Something was wrong.
Xu Tian stepped inside without hesitation, placing his backpack on the floor. "It’s small but clean," he said.
Yu Holea followed, but her fingers twitched slightly.
The old man smiled faintly. "I don’t have much, but you two can stay here for the show. Just... don’t go out too late at night."
The live chat immediately reacted.
"Wait, why does that sound creepy?"
"’Don’t go out too late at night’?? Bro, this is a horror movie setup."
"Yu Holea looks serious. Does she feel something?"
"Maybe it’s just an old man’s way of warning them about wild animals?"
Yu Holea kept her expression calm. "Thank you, sir. We’ll be careful."
The old man nodded, then slowly walked out of the house, leaving them alone.
Xu Tian sat on one of the wooden chairs. "You looked tense just now," he said, watching her.
Yu Holea hesitated. She couldn’t just say, ’Oh, I can see ghosts, and this place is haunted.’
Instead, she said,
"Um? I just...feel the house is unique."
Suddenly, a cold breeze passed through the room. The wooden door creaked slightly, even though there was no wind outside.
There were only four bedrooms in the wooden house. Out of which one was taken by the old man while the other three were free for their use.
Xu Tian as a gentleman let Yu Holea choose one first.
Yu Holea looked at the three rooms.
The first one was near the entrance, the second one was in the middle, and the third one was at the far end of the house.
The black aura was strongest around the last room.
She frowned.
"I’ll take this one," she said, pointing to the last room.
Xu Tian just nodded. "Alright. I’ll take the middle one, then."
Yu Holea opened the door to her room.
It was simple—just a wooden bed, a small table, and a window facing the pond. The air smelled a little damp, but it was clean.
She took out a cleansing talisman and since the camera wasn’t following her, she used it.
The talisman floated in the room, its golden light enveloped the room, absorbing the black aura.
"Now it’s better." Yu Holea muttered.
She then walked up to the wall and placed her hand. Closing her eyes she saw the past.
In the room a woman in her later forties was sitting on the bed, crying.
Her face was pale, and her hands were shaking as she held a small wooden box.
Yu Holea could hear whispers.
"He promised... he promised he’d come back..."
The woman kept mumbling the same thing over and over.
Then suddenly, the door burst open, and a shadowy figure rushed in.
The woman gasped. "No! Please, don’t—!"
The vision ended.
Yu Holea’s eyes snapped open, and she quickly pulled her hand away from the wall.
Xu Tian had just put his things away in the small wooden closet when he suddenly felt... strange.
It was like someone was watching him.
He turned around quickly, scanning the room.
Nothing.
The wooden walls were still, and the dim lamp flickered slightly, but there was no one there.
Xu Tian frowned. Maybe he was just tired.
With a sigh, he grabbed his towel and headed to the bathroom.
The water was cold at first, making him shiver, but soon it warmed up. He let the water run over his head, washing away the sweat and dirt from the day’s work.
When he stepped out, he felt better. His muscles were sore, but the shower helped.
Dressed in a simple black T-shirt and loose pants, he lay down on the bed. The mattress was a little hard, but it was better than nothing.
Closing his eyes, he let out a slow breath. The room was silent. Too silent.
