Chapter 446: Rheanne Himelle

Rheanne Himelle.

She stood at the top of the short marble stairs leading to her own statue.

Looking up at her, Brandon was left in awe before he broke out of it with a chuckle.

"Haa... you finally decided to show up, huh?"

A small smile appeared on Rheanne’s beautiful lips, tinged with quiet amusement "Obviously, you are my Herald after all."

Brandon exhaled with a half laugh and stepped forward, climbing the first few stairs until he stood only a few feet below her.

He looked up at her "Then why did you not show up in front of me all these days?"

Upon hearing this, she shrugged "What can I do? My Herald has no ’faith’ in me, so how can I manifest?"

She tilted her head slightly, her blue eyes sparkling with faint humor "But recently... your ’belief’ in me has spiked up a lot. So I can finally appear before you."

He let out a soft sigh and sat down on the stairs, resting his elbows on his knees "Well, I never really believed in gods until now."

"I just recently came to know about this... whole stuff."

Looking at him, Rheanne raised an eyebrow "Hmm... you have a whole different reaction than I expected."

Hm? He turned to look at her in confusion "How did you expect me to react?"

She stepped down one stair and with a thoughtful look, she spoke "Maybe like... ’Ahhh, it’s Goddess Rheanne!’ ’Am I hallucinating?’ ’Is this real?’ And instantly bow in front of me."

She giggled under her breath "Some stuff like that."

Brandon let out a wry chuckle, shaking his head "Nah," he said, leaning back slightly on his elbows.

"I’ve seen too much weird shit lately to be surprised by much. You can say... I kinda expected you ever since the dreams."

"Ah, one thing, stop giving me weird dreams... seriously, I can’t even sleep properly."

She stifled a laugh "I am sorry, it’s just me using some signs to prove to you that I am indeed real... since your faith in me was rock bottom at the time."

She descended the last few steps, now standing on the same level as him.

He raised his head to look at her "You are not really here, are you?"

She gave a nod and gracefully sat beside him on the stairs.

She drew her knees up slightly, resting her arms on them and turned her head to meet his gaze "Mhm, yeah. Just my avatar... thingy." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Looking at her, he asked "What happened to Azyrth after that?"

With a soft shrug, Rheanne replied "Who knows... I think she won’t be invading this world soon after the exorcism."

"Now that her Herald in this world is also purified by me..."

Her gaze drifted upward toward the domed ceiling, where faint motes of silver light still lingered "Hmm, for a while, she won’t have any influence."

Brandon nodded slowly, then leaned back on his hands, staring at the same ceiling.

She closed her eyes for a moment, her long lashes resting against her cheeks and opened them again, "Well... this whole ordeal is because of me."

"She hates me in the Divine World, so to break my ’Elder Divinity’ status, she targeted my world."

A few moments passed in silence.

Brandon got curious and asked "How is life in the Divine World?"

She opened her eyes and looked at him "I would say... pretty boring."

Brandon raised an eyebrow in surprise.

She continued "Everyone wants to be a god. Wants long, everlasting life. Wants worship. Power. Immortality. But in the end... all you get is loneliness and a boring life."

"There is no struggle up there. No real risk. No growth. Just... existence. Watching worlds rise and fall. Watching mortals love and fight and die while we sit on thrones of belief we barely feel anymore."

She let out a soft sigh "Sometimes I just think it would have been better if I never ascended to be a god."

Brandon stared at her and let out a soft laugh.

"So... being a goddess sucks?"

Rheanne’s lips twitched faintly "Sometimes. But having a Herald like you... makes it bearable."

"You’ve given me something most gods never have."

He blinked his eyes curiously "What’s that?"

Looking into his blue eyes, she smiled "Hope... you gave me the hope to live."

Upon hearing this, he squinted his gaze in confusion ’Huh? What does that mean?’

But before he could ask anything, she stood up and looked down at him with quiet pride "Keep fighting, my Herald. Keep loving. Keep believing... even just a little."

Brandon stood up after her.

Rheanne smiled and stepped back toward the statue.

"I’ll be watching."

And in the next instant, she disappeared into silver light, and the chamber fell silent.

Brandon stood there watching the statue of Rheanne.

But suddenly, she appeared out of nowhere "Oh by the way, if you ever want to meet me, come here."

Eh? Brandon was startled and took a step back in shock.

She smiled and tilted her head toward the statue behind her "This place is ’closer’ to my chamber in the Divine world than any place in this world, because this is where I ascended."

Brandon stared at her, but then he gave a nod "...Alright."

She nodded her head "Okay then, see you later."

With that, she disappeared again.

He let out a small, incredulous laugh, shaking his head.

"See you later."

*swoosh*

Rheanne materialized back in her chamber within the Divine Realm.

A massive bed dominated the center with the pillows scattered in luxurious disarray.

She sat on the edge of the bed, and her long white hair cascaded over one shoulder as she tucked a strand behind her ear with fingers that trembled ever so slightly.

A faint blush bloomed across her cheeks, and she lifted her hand before pressing it to her chest and feeling the rapid flutter beneath her ribs.

A soft chuckle escaped her lips "The ’future’ you is very much like the ’present’ you, Kael," she murmured to the empty room in a fond voice.

"You haven’t changed a bit... since the first day I met you."

She disappeared again and reappeared in another chamber deeper within the Divine Palace.

This room was smaller, dimly lit by floating orbs of soft silver flame that drifted lazily near the ceiling.

A single lavish bed dominated the space, and a man was ’sleeping’ peacefully on the bed.

His dark hair fell across his forehead in soft waves, and his face is similar to that of Brandon’s... but a lot more mature.

Rheanne stepped closer and gracefully knelt beside the bed.

She gazed down at him, and her blue eyes softened with emotion she rarely allowed herself to feel.

"I am glad I can talk to you again after thousands of years... Kael."
