Chapter 433: Against the Divine [4]

Brandon rushed forward through the knee-deep snow, boots sinking and kicking up white powder with every frantic step.

There, he saw Azyrth standing in the center of the cratered clearing

Her long black hair floated gently around her naked shoulders as she crushed the heart in her palm.

The remains hit the snow with a soft, wet plop and began to sink slowly into the crimson-stained powder.

Charlotte’s body lay crumpled a few meters away, drenched in her own blood.

Brandon’s knees nearly buckled.

"H-HUH?"

His eyes shrank in horror at seeing the dead body lying on the snow.

"Huff..."

The world tilted as he looked into the lifeless eyes of Charlotte staring at the sky.

"C-Char?"

"CHAR?"

Screaming, he hurriedly rushed to her side, but before he could reach her, Azyrth waved her hand.

A wave of dark mist appeared and slammed him away.

The impact lifted him off his feet before he crashed into the snow several meters away.

He skidded to a stop on his back, staring up at the gray sky.

Pain flared across his ribs and his shoulder, but it was distant.

All he could see was Charlotte

Suddenly, Charlotte’s body twitched slightly.

What? Azyrth was shocked to see this ’Even after she is dead, her body is responding instinctively, knowing her brother is in danger?’

She felt a chill down her spine ’What kind of crazy love...’

She turned her head slowly toward Brandon.

He was already pushing himself up as snow cascaded off his shoulders, silver-blue flames flickering erratically along his arms and back.

His lips trembled as he gazed at Charlotte "C-Char..."

Charlotte lay crumpled in the snow with a gaping black hole in her chest still oozing sluggishly.

But in the next instant, his eyes widened in utter shock, and a small smile bloomed on his lips.

Huh? Why is he smiling?

Azyrth, still holding the crushed remnants of Charlotte’s heart in her blood-slick palm, tilted her head in confusion.

She turned her head and froze to see that Charlotte was standing.

The hole in her chest, that fist-sized cavity where her heart had been ripped out, was no longer empty.

Yellow energy curled around the wound, sealing flesh, knitting bone, and regrowing muscle and tissue in reverse.

The blood that had poured out reversed its flow as crimson rivulets climbed back up her ribs, disappearing into the closing wound like time itself was running backward.

Her sternum fused.

Her heart, which was already reforming inside the golden light, gave one weak, stuttering beat.

Charlotte’s eyelids fluttered, and a single yellow glint passed through her yellow eyes.

Azyrth’s face twisted in shock ’She is reversing the time on her own body? But how? I already killed her.’

’Doesn’t matter.’

Azyrth’s hand flashed, and black mist coalesced into a razor-edged blade of darkness.

She slashed downward, aiming to bisect Charlotte’s reforming body from crown to groin.

But before the strike could land...

Space itself distorted in front of Charlotte.

A hand shot out from the distortion... pale, elegant, fingers curled into a fist.

The punch connected with Azyrth’s face at full force.

CRACK-THOOM

Azyrth’s jaw bent sideways at an unnatural angle, and her teeth shattered.

Her head whipped back so violently her neck cracked audibly.

The force lifted her clean off the ground and sent her hurtling upward in a spiraling arc, her body tumbling end over end through the sky.

The spatial distortion collapsed with a soft pop.

Elize stepped through, and she was wearing just loose black shorts and a baggy white t-shirt.

Her blonde hair was down, sleep-tousled, but her green eyes were sharp as razors.

She turned her head casually and looked at Charlotte.

Time was still reversing around Charlotte’s body, and her wound closed completely.

"You good, Char?" Elize asked in a gentle voice.

Charlotte opened her eyes fully.

"Yes, Big Sister."

She flexed her fingers and then stood straight.

The hole was gone.

Seeing Elize, Brandon let out a sigh of relief and rushed toward them.

However, Azyrth crashed back down from the sky, creating a crater as she landed.

Her jaw was already realigning with wet, grinding sounds.

The blood that sprayed from her mouth evaporated into black mist before it could stain the snow.

She stared at Elize in surprise "Ether in your body? How..."

*thud*

Brandon’s kick arrived before she finished the sentence.

His foot smashed into the side of her head as silver-blue flames trailed in a blazing arc.

Azyrth’s skull caved inward on impact, and her body was hurled sideways, tumbling across the snow in a violent roll, leaving a deep furrow behind her before crashing into a granite outcrop.

Brandon landed lightly, and his eyes locked onto Azyrth as she pushed herself up again.

Seizing the opening, Elize moved.

She crossed the crater in a blink, and her hand snapped forward, her fingers clamping around Azyrth’s face.

With terrifying strength, she slammed Azyrth’s head downward.

THOOOOMMM

The ground buckled, and a massive crater formed instantly beneath them, glowing red-orange at the bottom from sheer kinetic force converted to heat.

Shockwaves erupted outward, and the trees uprooted in a ring around the epicenter, the mountainside groaning as fissures tore through stone.

Brandon instinctively brought his arm up as the shockwave hit him.

Elize stood at the crater’s heart, her hand still gripping Azyrth’s face.

She frowned slightly and tilted her head ’She is not taking much damage. Oh...’

Azyrth’s body suddenly surged, and black mist exploded outward, pushing Elize back.

Elize released her grip and stepped back as Azyrth dashed upward into the sky.

Elize’s eyes narrowed, and she glanced at Charlotte.

"What are we fighting?" she asked quietly.

Charlotte let out a slow sigh "Possibly a divine being," she replied. "She is more powerful than any Empyrean I’ve faced..." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Her gaze shifted to Brandon "Also... Brandon’s attacks hurt her a lot."

Elize’s eyes narrowed further, and she looked up at the naked woman floating in the sky.

"Does your name happen to be Azyrth De Tiamareth?"

Azyrth’s entire body stiffened, and her eyes shook in absolute terror "You recognize me?"

Charlotte and Brandon both turned to Elize in surprise ’She knows her?’

Elize smiled faintly "Oh, so I was right on the money. This is my first time meeting an ’Elder Divinity’. "

She waved her hand playfully "Hello."

Azyrth’s eyes trembled, horror creeping into her heart "H-How do you know that..."

*swoosh*

In the next instant, Elize appeared directly in front of Azyrth wait a grin on her lips "Because my hands have killed Lesser Divinities."

THOOM

Her fist drove into Azyrth’s face, and the space around them shattered instantly.

Azyrth’s head snapped back so violently her neck broke, and her body hurtled backward, tumbling through the sky before slamming into a distant mountain.

A spatial fissure tore open where Elize’s punch had landed, and a violet-black light spilled out before it sealed again with a sharp snap.

Charlotte stared at her big sister in shock.

*swoosh* Azyrth burst out of the shattered mountain and looked at Elize, who was floating in front of her.

Sensing the aura around Elize, Azyrth’s entire body shivered in fear ’There is no doubt about it... this woman has achieved the peak of her strength this world allows.’

’What a terrifying woman.’

Elize had a faint smile on her lips as she muttered "Shall we continue? My hands are itching to kill a divinity after so long."

Upon hearing this, Azyrth clenched her fist and dark mist spiraled out of her body "Don’t think you can kill me like a normal lesser divinity."

"We Elder Divinity are different."

With a low, amused chuckle, Elize waved her hand lazily "Ah, I know, I know, don’t worry. I just need to ’exorcise’ you, right? It’s just your avatar after all."

Azyrth felt genuine fear creep into her heart upon hearing this ’How does she know that much.’

Cracking her knuckles, Elize stepped forward in the air "Well, then..."
