Getting a Technology System in Modern Day-Chapter 1038: The FINAL FIGHT II
The video was once again paused and rewound. This time, the camera angle changed from a close-up, moving toward space until the entire dwarf planet was once again fully visible. Unlike the previous time, where only a line was highlighted, now the entire dwarf planet was shown, with all of its layers highlighted from the core to the outer part.
The moment before the situation happened, the highlight showed a new highlight permeating the planet, with the source of it being the Grand Xor’Vak. It took less than half a second before the entire dwarf planet was covered by this new highlight, and then the dwarf planet just stopped rotating, fully held in place by the Grand Xor’Vak.
Unfortunately for Aron, who was untethered to the ground, stopping a planet is not without consequences. He was on the receiving end of them, as both he and the thin atmosphere were flung into space, continuing their journey without the dwarf planet tagging along. Large chunks of other untethered materials came along, acting as bullets that bombarded Aron and each other, aided by the supersonic wind.
But the dwarf planet itself was on the receiving end of the majority of the consequences. The kinetic energy gained from stopping its angular momentum was immediately converted into heat, thanks to the friction of the planet braking, which was hot enough to melt the crust.
However, that wasn’t the end of it. The dwarf planet transitioned from its egg shape (caused by centrifugal force) as gravity tried to pull it back into a perfect sphere, triggering earthquakes of unimaginable magnitudes and leveling the geological features that were still melting from the heat.
More things were happening on the planet, but at the speed at which the fight was happening, only these two were experienced first, while the rest were still in the chain reaction pipeline.
The camera once again zoomed back to the ground as the scene rewound itself to the moments just before the dwarf planet was stopped. This time, the virtual camera was tethered to Aron instead of the Grand Xor’Vak, as it was when the attack first happened. It played again, showing Aron being flung away amidst the supersonic wind along with dust, rocks, and many other things that were untethered to the planet.
But things didn’t stop there. The stones and rocks that were flung away looked as if someone was controlling them, as they started to specifically target Aron. The wind aided them, pushing them faster than even the average speed of the stripped atmosphere, despite some of them being the size of a building, making it clear that they were being controlled by the Grand Xor’Vak.
Immediately after the attacks were seen, the rocks and stones were turned transparent, with only their outlines remaining. The camera focused on Aron, showing him doing nothing. Despite that, all of the rocks and stones sent to crush him just hit an invisible wall and crashed into smaller bits, which were then immediately sent back to him once again.
The process repeated again and again until they became dust, all of it happening within two seconds before Aron started slowing down, coming to a full stop in three seconds. This revealed the outer layer of the shield surrounding him, which was covered with dust that hadn’t yet been flung away.
Aron turned towards the now atmosphere-stripped dwarf planet that was a few kilometers away and turning red as volcanoes erupted from every direction.
“He was right about it being advantageous to him,” Aron said as he moved slowly toward the dwarf planet.
Anyone who knew the Xor’Vak knew that their ability was control of the basic elements, which humans had even pointed out resembled an avatar, as they could control earth, water, air, and fire. Just as with benders in the Avatar story, the more powerful you are, the more you can push the envelope of these abilities. This meant that the entire makeup of the planet was advantageous to him and was now turning even more so as the heat that melted the rocks now turned it into a controllable fire environment.
“Is running and taking hits all you can do?” the Grand Xor’Vak asked, his tone filled with arrogance, showing that despite his attacks not yielding any results, he was still confident.
To anyone knowledgeable about high-level fighting, it was obvious that although the opening attacks were strong, they were still in the realm of probing attacks, despite the dwarf planet now being rendered uninhabitable for the foreseeable future.
“I’m still inexperienced in fights of this scale, so I’m observing at the moment,” Aron said calmly as he resumed floating toward the planet, to the area where the Grand Xor’Vak was located, as if he were bringing himself into the lion’s den.
Although it might have been taken as arrogance, Aron’s tone made it clear that he was actually sincere.
“You seem to be taking this as child’s play just because you can surrender. Then let me teach a lesson to your people by killing you in front of them so that they learn not to take things without conviction,” the Grand Xor’Vak said, his eyes showing how dissatisfied he was with Aron’s response.
It was a fight that he had joined risking his life and his civilization, while the other side could just surrender and not lose anything they already had, along with not being able to initiate an attack on the Xor’Vak. This meant the consequences of the outcome were not equal, which translated into how seriously each side took it, at least, that was how he interpreted Aron’s actions.
He raised his massive, winged hand before lowering it. On the livestream, it was seen in slow motion, and in that instant, the stream was once again highlighted, but this time with the same color that was highlighted when a spatial disturbance was felt before the arrival of the Xor’Vak inspection ship. This meant that whatever attack was coming from the Grand Xor’Vak’s slowly lowering hand was going to incorporate spatial elements into it.
