Getting a Sugar Mommy in Cultivation World!!-Chapter 651: The Second Farewell [2]
"She was living on borrowed time, and it is about to run out." Noah did not mince his words, but for some reason, Wei Bing smiled for the first time, sensing Gu Chen's care.
'I am content to know that you still care about me.' The thought only widened the smile on her face.
"Can you save her, senior?" Gu Chen hurriedly pleaded to Noah, but sadly all he got was a shake of the head.
"The sect I work for is not the Living Dead Sect." Seeing Noah and Gu Chen turning to look at her, she continued, "I regret the circumstances under which we met, but I don't regret loving you."
"What you have done for me is more than what I deserve." Her soft smile seemed to have melted all the anger Gu Chen had towards her. He rushed to her side and took her in his arms.
"Don't leave me again." He begged through muffled sobs. "I have already lost you once."
"It is why you have already lost me once; you can finally let go with knowing everything about it." Wei Bing ran her hand through his hair and whispered softly, "I am sorry that I tainted your memory of me."
"I tainted our love."
"No… no… no…" He tried to hold on, but her breath started to weaken. Qi started to leak from her body, showing signs of her strength waning.
"I am from the Blood… Fiend sect." She did not move her gaze away from Gu Chen while talking to Noah. "But from what I know about our sect master. He is not someone who could come up with a decent scheme, let alone come up with such an elaborate plan."
"You mean there is someone else pulling the strings?"
Wei Bing nodded. "I have heard about the sect master receiving some important guests from the elders."
"Did you see any one of these guests?" After a moment of silence, Noah spoke up, his eye flickering with coldness, startling Xin Yan beside her.
"I did not have enough rank or status in the sect to be privy to such information, but someone in the sect spread a rumor that the sect master was making some deal with cloaked demon worshipers."
It was then Xin Yan's eyes flickered with realization. "It's them again." She whispered to herself.
There was a chance it could be someone else, but there was an ugly pit feeling she had that the secret guests were none other than the people from the Red Dawn Cult.
"Is there anything else you would like to know?" Confused, Wei Bing asked again, looking at them.
"No, you can now go in peace." Noah shook his head and spoke with a reassuring smile.
"Dear, Please take care of Ren and yourself." She turned her attention to Gu Chen, who had stopped sobbing at one point and silently held on to her.
With a slight push, she separated from Gu Chen; seeing his bloodshot eyes, a helpless smile graced her face. "I love—"
Woosh!
She did not even get to finish her last words before her life faded with her cultivation. Her body suddenly collapsed into a pile of paper ash.
Gu Chen's eyes shook, his hands clenched, but they could hold on to nothing. With quivering lips, he made a silent vow to himself.
Woosh!
A powerful gust of wind erupted in the room. The array formation on the platform activated on its own. The qi in the air, which had leaked out of Wei Bing's body, was sucked into the array.
Noah, who stood beside Xin Yan, was now standing before the array. A red trace of qi escaped his finger and merged with the array.
"We have to leave." He declared. Looking at the lost Gu Chen, he shouted, "Now!"
"Huh?" Snapping out of his daze, he stood up.
"This place is about to blow up once all the blood energy is sucked out of these bodies." Noah gave him the grim news.
"Didn't you say that there was no more danger in this and you had stopped the formation?" Gu Chen asked in panic.
"I created the illusion to make the person behind the scenes think that everything had happened according to his plan, but who would have thought that he would destroy this place despite everything working out?"
Gu Chen frowned and ran towards the stairway with Noah and Xin Yan.
"Did he sense that Wei Bing betrayed them?"
Noah shook his head. "Highly doubtful. Whoever did this never had any intentions of letting you live."
"…Dad!" Once they stepped out, they were greeted by the sight of Gu Ren trying to slam a chair into the closed windows. "This isn't what it looks like; I wasn't—"
Seeing Noah standing behind his father, he panicked and hurriedly tried to come up with some kind of excuse, but his father stopped him by pulling him in a strong hug.
Gu Ren froze by the sudden closeness, his voice weakening, "What happened, Dad?"
Gu Chen did not say anything and continued to hug in silence.
"We have to leave." Noah did not like it, but he had to interrupt their moment. "You have to evacuate the area. The blast will be wide enough to blow a three-meter area around this place."
"What blast? What's going on, Dad?" Gu Ren reacted with a shiver and became agitated.
"We have to go, son." Instead of answering, he directly pulled his son towards the door.
Gu Ren's eyes widened when he saw his father opening the door to his room with ease. He glanced at Noah from the corner of his eyes and caught the man looking at him with narrowed eyes.
He jerked his head back to the front and ran ahead of his father.
"City Lord!" Once outside, one of the guards approached Gu Chen with a serious look on his face.
"Evacuate everyone in the area; gather everyone in the outer courtyard." The guard bowed and vanished.
"I did not tell you this before, but there was something you should know." Noah spoke while glancing at the spot where the guard once stood. A bad premonition arose in Gu Chen's heart hearing those words.
