Genshin Impact: I'm The Envoy of Snezhnaya-Chapter 311: The Detained Human
Chapter 311: The Detained Human
The Meaty Tribe was one of the three Hilichurl tribes in Dadaupa Gorge.
Within this tribe, they regularly held sacrificial ceremonies. The grand scale of their altar had amazed many scholars.
However, when some scholars—assisted by adventurers—learned what the sacrifices were actually for, their expressions turned extremely strange.
Because the tribe’s wish wasn’t to grow stronger or rule the world—those vulgar ambitions—but simply... to have meat to eat every day.
Yes. That simple.
Perhaps that was the origin of the Meaty Tribe’s name?
But compared to all that, what Bai Luo cared about more was the ingredients the Hilichurls had.
At some point, sourcing supplies from Hilichurls had become a habit of his.
Though he’d felt some psychological resistance at first, over time he discovered that these Hilichurls had an excellent eye for ingredients.
No matter what it was, they always picked the best quality—far better than him choosing things himself.
That was also one of the reasons many adventurers liked opening chests in Hilichurl camps.
Besides "restocking supplies," Bai Luo had another purpose for coming here.
That was to retrieve something he had hidden here a long time ago.
The hiding spot back then had been extremely well concealed. He didn’t know whether the Hilichurls had dug it up.
If the Hilichurls had ruined it... then he could only take all of their ingredients as compensation, with tears in his eyes.
That would be a fair exchange.
After entering the Meaty Tribe’s camp, the most eye-catching things were the large arena—and the pot beside it.
That pot was something Bai Luo was very familiar with. Back when he’d been releasing mechanical birds everywhere with Collei, he had specifically had the little one toss one underneath this pot.
Although the high temperature generated by a Flaming Flower could boil the water in the pot, it didn’t affect the mechanical bird’s function in the slightest.
It could only be said that products from The Doctor were always top-tier.
Originally, Bai Luo had wanted to test whether the meat cooked in this pot would taste any different, but Collei had stopped him.
It had been one of his lingering regrets ever since. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Taking advantage of the Hilichurls dozing off, Bai Luo quietly crept over to the pot. He pulled out a Sunsettia he always carried and was about to toss it in.
This was his go-to method—tried and true.
But a casual glance upward made him notice a figure different from the other Hilichurls.
A human.
Strange... humans shouldn’t be on a Hilichurl’s menu. So why had they captured one?
At first, Bai Luo wasn’t particularly interested in that person. At most, he planned to open the cage and let them escape.
But after tossing the Sunsettia into the pot and approaching the cage under invisibility, he realized that this human wasn’t an ordinary one.
He looked injured, and there was a strong burnt smell coming from him.
Judging from the tough leather gear he wore, he was likely a hunter.
What surprised Bai Luo the most were the cat ears on top of his head.
Though they almost blended in with his hair color, those fluffy ears were impossible to ignore.
Glancing at the sleeping Hilichurls nearby, Bai Luo quietly took one of their wooden clubs, walked over to the cage, and poked the person inside.
The cat-eared man thought it was another Hilichurl coming to torment him, so he only curled up tighter, doing his best to protect his vital areas.
That curled-up posture looked remarkably similar to a real cat.
"..."
Shaking his head helplessly, Bai Luo walked over to the sleeping Hilichurls and raised the wooden club in his hand.
Thunk!
Thunk!
The two sleeping Hilichurls fell into an even deeper sleep.
Bai Luo’s club had an excellent sleep-inducing effect. As for that point... Kuki Shinobu of Inazuma strongly approved.
That said, cats really were extremely sensitive to sound. Even though the Hilichurls not far away hadn’t noticed anything, the cat-eared man in the cage twitched his ears and raised his head in confusion.
When he saw the black-clad young man with a gentle expression, delight immediately appeared on his face.
As expected of a veteran hunter, he understood that silence was crucial in this situation. He merely nodded to Bai Luo to express his gratitude, making no obvious sound.
Bai Luo nodded back—then turned and walked toward the Hilichurls’ dwellings.
"???"
Watching Bai Luo’s retreating back, the cat-eared hunter looked slightly stunned.
Wasn’t he here to rescue me?
He soon found out what Bai Luo was doing.
As the sound of wooden clubs striking solid objects rang out, the Hilichurl camp grew quieter and quieter.
When even the last Hilichurl had fallen into deep sleep, Bai Luo finally felt at ease. He lifted the Hilichurl tent and began digging into the ground.
Before long, he unearthed a box wrapped in oilcloth.
Shaking off the dirt, Bai Luo eagerly opened it and took out the contents.
Inside were several bottles that looked like potions.
Back when a Sumeru youth named Cyno had come to Mondstadt, Bai Luo had paid him a visit and held a peaceful and friendly conversation with him.
As their talk grew lively, Cyno picked up a few bottles nearby and insisted on giving them to Bai Luo.
Bai Luo had repeatedly declined, but unable to withstand the enthusiasm, he reluctantly accepted them.
These potions were quite miraculous. When splashed onto a person, they could temporarily transform them into an animal.
He had used one bottle on Collei, another on Diluc, and before leaving Mondstadt for Liyue, he had hidden the remaining ones here.
After securing the potions, Bai Luo finally went to the cage and released the hunter inside.
"Thank you, my friend."
The hunter looked very weak, yet he still expressed his gratitude with great excitement.
"It’s nothing. But how did you end up getting captured by these Hilichurls—and... beaten up like this?"
Bai Luo had originally wanted to say beaten so badly, but to spare the old hunter’s pride, he phrased it a bit more tactfully.
It wasn’t strange for him to question this.
To ordinary people, Hilichurls were indeed formidable monsters.
But for someone slightly stronger, with combat experience and a weapon, dealing with a few Hilichurls was not difficult at all.
And as an experienced hunter, even facing stronger Hilichurl brutes, he should have handled them with ease.
Even if he couldn’t win, escaping should not have been a problem.
There was no way he should have ended up like this.
"Ah... it’s the hunting off-season recently. I was idle at home, so I thought I’d help my daughter look for some ingredients for mixing drinks. I never expected to be ambushed by these Hilichurls. If it were only Hilichurls, I could’ve dealt with them just fine, but..."
As the cat-eared hunter spoke, a lingering fear appeared on his face.
"But among them... there was actually an Abyss Mage. It used fire element—burned my bow to ruins and severely injured me. Then they detained me here. I don’t know what they were planning to do."
