Chapter 93: Geneticist (2)

BOOM...!!!

Kolga wasted no time, leaping out of the way. The demon general shielded his face from the shockwaves and debris, his eyes never leaving the human.

"Thorex!"

He desperately called for his partner. Taking Caleb on alone was practically suicide. If they wanted any chance at victory, they needed to attack together.

"Shit!"

Kolga cursed as Caleb closed in once more. The demon hadn’t even landed but Caleb was already charging forward.

The dust barely had time to settle when Caleb emerged, his deep turquoise eyes gleaming with dangerous excitement. That unsettling expression only intensified Kolga’s dread.

BOOM...!!!

Caleb’s fist struck with unstoppable momentum, crushing into Kolga’s body. The force drove into the demon’s stomach, and Kolga winced as something broke within him.

"Urgh!"

It had been years since Kolga felt pain like this. But before the punch could send him flying, a second blow came rushing toward his head — a left fist cutting through the air with lethal intent.

Just in time, his partner acted. A familiar force wrapped around Caleb’s fist, tendrils of power quickly spreading across his body. The energy surged, flinging him backwards and away from Kolga before the strike could land.

Kolga’s chest heaved, relief mingling with lingering pain. But the fight was far from over. His partner quickly appeared by his side, his eyes locked on Caleb, who landed several meters away.

’He managed to dispel my power with apparent ease,’ Thorex swallowed hard. ’This human is not simple at all...’ It was hard to believe someone here was already this strong.

Caleb stood upright, the amusement in his eyes more evident than ever. His nonchalant demeanour only made the demons more vigilant.

’Am I really a scientist?’ Caleb mused, questioning his emerging personality. ’All I did back on Earth was lock myself in research. But in this world, the thrill of the fight makes me feel so alive. I can’t get enough!’

His passion for the sciences still burned brightly. But so did this new side of himself. How could he have known he was a battle junkie? Someone who desired to clash fists with others—just for the fun of it.

While Caleb contemplated his newfound persona, the demon generals seized the opportunity. In a flash of magical energy, they teleported, appearing around him.

Kolga struck first, his fist blazing toward Caleb’s face. At the same time, Thorex lunged from behind, an aura blade coating his hand, aimed to impale the human through the heart.

It was a decisive move — one that could end their troubles once and for all.

But both generals knew Caleb wouldn’t make it so easy. Expecting a counter, they braced for his reaction. Yet, the human stood motionless. He neither blocked nor dodged.

Kolga and Thorex hesitated, their vigilance heightened by Caleb’s unnerving calmness. But there were no sudden shifts in energy, no ominous warnings. He truly wasn’t reacting.

’Fine!’

WHOOM!

The attacks struck — or at least, they should have. Kolga and Thorex’s eyes widened in disbelief as their blows passed through Caleb as though he wasn’t even there.

But the consequences were immediate.

The force of Kolga’s punch, instead of finding its target, collided with Thorex’s head, producing a sickening crunch. Simultaneously, Thorex’s aura blade plunged into Kolga’s chest, missing his heart by inches.

Had the blade been any longer, it would have pierced straight through his body.

Kolga stumbled, clutching the wound, his vision blurred with pain. Thorex recoiled, a mixture of shock and frustration washing over him.

’What... what just happened?’

"My turn."

The demons weren’t given time to react as Caleb’s figure solidified. In a blur, he appeared before Kolga. The demon barely registered his movement before a devastating blow connected with his jaw.

BOOM...!

The impact shattered Kolga’s jaw with a sickening crunch. The sheer force launched him into the sky, his body twisting uncontrollably. The world spun, his bearings lost in the haze of pain. But then, a sharp whipping sound cut through the air.

Through the agony, Kolga caught a glimpse of a figure.

BOOM...!

Another merciless blow slammed into his stomach, sending him hurtling back toward the ground like a falling star. It happened so quickly that before Thorex could fully recover from his own blow, a shadow emerged from the swirling dust, flashing before him.

"!"

A crushing high kick descended, striking Thorex’s head like a battering ram. The force would have driven the demon’s skull into the ground — if not for the blow that awaited below.

BOOM...!

Everything went dark for a moment. Bones cracked under the impact, and Thorex’s body rocketed into the sky. But his suffering wasn’t over.

BOOM...!

Like a flaming meteor, Thorex crashed into the dirt. The shockwaves from the relentless assault tore through the air, sending debris and dust spiralling like a thunderstorm.

"..."

In the distance, the knights who dared to watch stood frozen, struggling to comprehend what had just transpired. The battle had unfolded faster than their eyes could follow. In every clash, the demons had been utterly overwhelmed. frёeωebɳovel.com

’Was there someone this powerful in the kingdom?’ Captain Reeder swallowed hard, his hands trembling. ’Just who the hell is he...?’

In two separate craters, the demon generals lay utterly defeated. Their skulls were fractured, and blood seeped from their wounds. Though still alive, they were completely incapacitated.

"Aren’t geneticists amazing...?" Caleb’s voice broke the eerie silence as he strolled toward one of the craters. "I have to admit, I’m a little disappointed. I thought you guys would put up more of a fight. I didn’t even get to go all out."

He expected no response — and none came. The demons remained motionless, their defeated forms barely stirring. Caleb’s expression stayed nonchalant as he looked down at them.

He hadn’t used his ice abilities, his blinding flash, or even the flames he’d acquired. His mana flare state, which could exponentially boost his physical prowess, remained untouched. And yet, the fight was already over.

’I guess I’ve gotten stronger...’ A faint smile curled Caleb’s lip. ’But this isn’t enough. From what they said, there’s more to this world than just this kingdom.’

With a subtle glow in his turquoise eyes, Caleb commanded the system to scan the demon’s genetic structure.

As the process began, he sealed the creature’s magical abilities, ensuring no surprises. Then, without delay, he moved to the second general, repeating the same procedure.

The battle was done, and there was no need to kill them. He knew the kingdom would want answers. And so did he.
