Chapter 104: A Miracle fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

A few hours later

King Gray stirred in his sleep, the surrounding giggles and noise irritating his ears.

"Will you guys keep it down; I’m trying to sleep here." He muttered under his breath, but the noise kept on going. "Hah..."

He wasn’t able to make out the words either, but he knew the noise came from his family. Left with no option, he decided to sleep through the noise. However, he began to wonder how he ended up in bed.

Then, memories of previous events began playing in his head. He vividly recalled crippling himself to avoid making the hard choice.

But the noise around him made him aware that the incident was solved; someone had saved the day in his stead. There couldn’t have been a better outcome.

But knowing this didn’t make him feel good as a sudden wave of shame and inadequacy hit him out of nowhere. He chose the coward’s way out.

He, a king and a father, chose not to see what happened next.

If only he had been stronger, faster or even killed that bastard before it got to that point. Unfortunately, regret never reels its head until the tragedy actually happens.

’I can’t even open my eyes to look at them.’ A single tear fell from the corner of his eye. ’Crippling myself is a befitting punishment for my cowardice.

’Stepping down as king would be for the best. I can’t continue sitting on the throne like this.’

Regardless of his decision, he was still going to make those responsible pay dearly. His own people had put him in a position that weakened him like never before.

King Gray wasn’t just angry; he was livid and out for blood.

A sudden flow of mana flowed through his body as a result of his burning desire for vengeance, shocking him greatly, and at the same time leaving him confused.

’Wasn’t I crippled?’ He questioned in doubt. ’I can still sense mana flowing through my body. How is this possible?’

Unless the artefact faulted and didn’t actually work, then something must have happened in the time that he lost consciousness till now, which got him wondering, just how long had he been out.

While King Gray was drowning in despair, questioning the source of this miracle, the joyous noise around him continued. The voices he heard were filled with pure, untainted happiness.

Curiosity finally got the better of him, and he decided to listen in on what was making them so cheerful. The only voice missing was Osbourne’s—likely because he was out dealing with the chaos in the city.

"Hehe, this is amazing!" King Gray heard his daughter exclaim. "I can’t believe I’ve been missing this for so long! Mom, what are those? And what’s that?!"

Celine’s excitement puzzled him. The way she spoke didn’t make sense—those words weren’t ones a blind person would normally say.

A strange feeling gripped the king’s heart as he hesitantly opened his eyes. What he saw left him frozen in shock, his eyes widening in disbelief.

Celine and her mother stood outside on the grand balcony attached to the chambers. The princess would point at something, and the queen would describe it in vivid detail—its colours, its beauty, how it added to the surroundings.

Their expressions radiated a light that could brighten even the darkest room. The sheer joy on their faces was unlike anything the king had seen before. He couldn’t remember the last time his wife had looked this happy.

But more than anything—Celine. His baby girl could see!

Unless this was a dream or he had somehow passed into the afterlife, something was undeniably wrong.

Yet, everything felt real. His senses were intact, he could still feel the mana in the air, and his surroundings were exactly as he remembered.

’It’s real...’

The realization sent a nervous thrill through his chest. His heart pounded as a rare spark of hope ignited within him. With careful, almost trembling steps, he got out of bed and slowly made his way toward them.

Lost in their world of discovery and exhilaration, mother and daughter didn’t notice his approach.

King Gray stepped onto the balcony, drawing close enough to be seen.

"Father!"

Celine turned and ran straight into his embrace, leaving him speechless. He didn’t know how to react—he was still in shock.

"You’re finally awake!" she beamed, tightening her hug. "You won’t believe what happened, Father! Even I can’t believe it’s real! There was this man, and—"

Celine began eagerly recounting her experience, but the king could barely process her words. He turned his head robotically toward his wife. When he saw her teary smile and nod, it was all the confirmation he needed.

A single tear slipped down his cheek. Then another. And another.

"Ah..." The dam broke. The king couldn’t hold back anymore as tears streamed freely down his face. "Ce-Celine... Celine!" He could barely form another word.

"Father...?"

Celine pulled back slightly, gazing up at him. Seeing the tears in his eyes, her own smile deepened. Emerald eyes met emerald eyes as father and daughter shared a moment neither had ever thought possible.

"Y-you can see..." King Gray whispered through his tears, his smile widening. "H-how...? When...?"

"It’s a miracle, Father." Celine’s voice was filled with wonder. "A man named Caleb—he fixed my vision, my blood, my body—everything! Oh, and he healed you too! He’s amazing!"

This time, the king managed to grasp most of what she said. But the overwhelming joy made it impossible to focus on anything else.

"Ah, my baby girl!"

He pulled her into another embrace, holding her close as she saw his eyes for the first time.

The queen stood watching, her heart full. This was the moment she had dreamed of, the one she had prayed to the Goddess for.

And now, it had come true.

King Gray turned to her, eyes glistening, and wordlessly signalled for her to join them. The moment couldn’t be complete without feeling the warmth of his wife.

’Ah, Goddess Myrris. Thank you so much!’ King Gray said in his heart. ’You delivered what you promised! For what you have done for my family, my family and I will never forsake your presence in our lives!’

As if in response to his silent vow, the clouds parted slightly as the light from the sun shone on the family with its divine glow.
