Chapter 569: Chapter 567 Battery

DRIP. DRIP.

The sound of water droplets hitting the ground.

When he opened his eyes again, everything was pitch-black.

A subtle gravitational feedback made Li Ang realize that at that moment, he was lying flat on a horizontal platform.

His hands, feet, and body felt restrained.

The upper half of his face touched something cold, like a metal Mask that exposed only his mouth and eyes.

[Mission Type: Scripted Mission (Solo)]

[Mission Name: Eddy Mayfly]

[Phase One Mission Objective: Install a battery in the suit to alleviate the symptoms of shock.]

[Mission Time Limit: 1 minute]

[Mission Reward: None]

[Mission Punishment: None]

The System prompt sounded in his ear. Before Li Ang could process it, his body was instantly flooded with pain.

His limbs were cold, his pulse thin and rapid, and his breathing involuntarily quickened. His heart pounded as if it would burst. A continuous, piercing pain throbbed in his head, as if a dozen miniature, sadistic matrons were holding a consult around it, each with a sewing needle, gleefully stabbing at his brain.

The feeling wasn’t intense, but it was exquisitely agonizing, even more piercing than when Li Ang had used the Origin of Life to recreate his organs—at least back then he could numb himself with anesthesia.

What’s going on?

Li Ang’s eyes widened as he instinctively tried to open the item bar to take out a Miniature Life Potion.

The thought had barely formed when a translucent item bar appeared before his eyes.

However, the item bar and even the entire player information panel had turned a dull gray color, unresponsive to any of his clicks.

[In this mission, the player is in full role-play mode, with No Attribute Enhancement, unable to use any skills or Skill Scrolls other than Title Skills, unable to access the items in the item bar, unable to use any equipped items.]

"..."

Li Ang’s eyelid twitched. The last time he experienced such a full role-play mode was in "The Foolish Husband in the Dangerous Building" mission in the Philippines. Back then, he could at least retain Attribute Enhancement and access items in his backpack. He had also started by being swapped into a S.W.A.T. operative, armed with a rifle, wearing a Bulletproof Vest, and geared up to the teeth.

But this time...

ZZZT—

An electrical buzzing sound came from above, and then the lights switched on.

Li Ang squinted and lifted a hand to shield his forehead, allowing his eyes to slowly adjust to the dazzling light.

It was a small, rectangular room, not very spacious. Three walls were covered with brownish-yellow printed wallpaper. The innermost wall had a casement window set with rough, uneven frosted glass.

Opposite the wall with the window was a huge metal door, the same size as the wall. Rows of rivets lined the top and bottom of the metal door. In place of a doorknob was a simple, slender L-shaped metal bar.

Li Ang, enduring the twitching pain in his arms, slowly sat up. He found himself on a simple spring bed on the left side of the room.

The bed was single-sized, about two meters long and ninety centimeters wide. It was made of a metallic material, shining silver, with some slight signs of rust. It was covered with a mattress and a spacious blue-gray bedsheet. Next to where Li Ang’s head had been lay a glass cylinder.

The outside of the cylinder was marked with golden lightning patterns, and it contained a clear liquid. The bottom of the cylinder had a slightly protruding metal ring, resembling a common battery.

Opposite the bed was a ceramic washbasin.

Paired with the washbasin was a rudimentary metal faucet. There was no mirror above it, and a straight plastic pipe ran along the floor below.

The plastic pipe was closer to the wall and didn’t align with the washbasin’s sink. The dripping sound Li Ang had heard earlier was water trickling from the faucet, missing the sink, and hitting the floor.

Based on common sense, a U-shaped pipe was missing there.

In front of the washbasin was an ordinary wooden chair with a backrest. In the corner of the wall to the left of the washbasin stood a huge metal cabinet.

This extremely tall cabinet almost reached the ceiling. It was entirely silver-gray, its exterior covered in flamboyant Baroque-style reliefs. The middle portion of the cabinet was hollowed out, lined with three suspended, upside-down conical containers. Below them was a flat platform with a drainage net.

It somewhat resembled... a drink dispenser from a buffet?

The pain attacked once again. Li Ang, not daring to delay, picked up the glass cylinder beside him and swung his legs off the bed to stand.

His current body wasn’t that of an invulnerable player but an ordinary mortal. Although he didn’t know what was wrong with this body, the more he delayed, the more disadvantageous it would be. Li Ang had no intention of testing what would happen after the one-minute mission time limit expired.

The item inventory was sealed, so he couldn’t summon Miss Chai. Li Ang stood on the ground and quickly scanned himself.

He was wearing a brown outfit, somewhat resembling a diving suit from the last century. Parts around the neck, chest, abdomen, elbows, and knees were made of metal, while the rest was some kind of soft, rubber-like material.

The outfit had no zippers, only a keyhole at the neck and chest. His hands were covered with cumbersome leather gloves, and his feet were in heavy boots integral to the suit, requiring a great deal of strength to move even slightly.

A diving suit? Or a spacesuit?

Li Ang glanced around the room, his mind racing.

The glass cylinder in my hand has a lightning pattern on its surface and contains transparent liquid. The metal protrusion at the bottom fits exactly into the round groove on my left arm. It does look quite like a battery. The description for the Phase One mission objective was ’Install a battery in the suit to alleviate the symptoms of shock.’ That means installing the battery should relieve the shock symptoms—so I don’t need to take off the suit to install the battery. This must be to prevent me from getting electrocuted if I tried to install it while wearing the suit.

Time ticked away. The feeling of weakness gradually intensified, and his vision began to blur.

After fumbling with the glass cylinder for a moment and finding no way to open it, Li Ang stopped hesitating. He directly aligned the bottom of the glass cylinder with the groove on his suit’s left arm and pressed it in.

CLICK.

The glass cylinder snugly fit into the groove.

Li Ang clearly felt a sharp pain in his left arm. This was followed immediately by a warm current spreading from his left arm throughout his entire body. The severe discomfort quickly subsided. His heart rate calmed, his breathing slowed, the cold sweats vanished, and his limbs slowly began to regain strength. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

[Phase One Mission Objective completed]

[Phase Two Mission Objective: Leave Room A]

[Mission Time Limit: None]

[Mission Reward: None]

[Mission Punishment: None]

It’s that effective?

Li Ang sat on the edge of the bed and sighed in relief. He waited about a dozen seconds for his body to fully warm up before standing to carefully assess the current situation.

First of all, who am I role-playing as? Where is this?
