Chapter 403: Chapter 342: Want It? Beg Me.

Biya entered the room.

The room was empty, the window left ajar. The living conditions in the Star Vortex Insect Nest were harsh, the air thick with fine dust. A thin layer of grime had settled on the floor from the wind blowing in... It was clear no one had lived here for some time.

All trace of her had vanished, as if she’d never been there at all.

He took a deep breath.

He couldn’t tell if it was his body that ached, or his heart.

After lingering for a long while, Biya turned and returned to his chambers. He soaked in cold water for the entire night before he finally managed to suppress the feverish agitation.

The next day, he questioned every Servant in the palace, and even the base staff couldn’t escape the King’s interrogation.

A staff member named Kael answered respectfully that Miss Sang Luo had left long ago.

Biya’s lips were pressed into a thin line, his face emotionless. "When did she leave?"

"Where did she go?"

"Did she leave Zone 3, or... did she leave the Star Vortex Insect Nest?"

A barrage of demanding questions followed. ’He’d deliberately ignored her these past few days, refusing to think about anything related to her and blocking any news of her movements. He didn’t even know when she left, or where she’d gone...’

It was clear to everyone. The new King had announced to the world that he would soon wed a Queen, and for the past half-month, he had been giving Miss Sang Luo the cold shoulder.

Outsiders didn’t know what had transpired between them, but anyone with eyes could see their relationship was no longer as intimate as it once was.

So, it was understandable that Miss Sang Luo would want to leave.

That was why Kael hadn’t been surprised when she said she wanted to leave. He did his best to accommodate the esteemed female’s request, arranging a fast ship for her. If her journey went smoothly, she would already be far from Zone 3.

Kael replied, "Miss Sang Luo left half a month ago. As for where she went, I’m not sure. She did ask me for a map of Zone 2 before she left."

"...Why wasn’t I notified?"

"It was the young lady herself who said it wasn’t necessary," Kael added nervously. "And, Your Majesty, you never asked."

A long silence.

Kael didn’t dare look up at the King’s face. The pressure radiating from Biya was cold and heavy, making his legs shake and his heart hammer in his chest.

’It seems the King really does care about Miss Sang Luo.’

’Did I do the wrong thing? What if the King takes his anger out on me? What should I do?’

Just as Kael was trying to think of a way to absolve himself, he heard Biya speak.

"Before she left, did she leave anything behind?"

’A parting word, a letter, or even some small trinket.’

’Anything.’ 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Kael slowly shook his head. "Nothing."

Biya let out a cold laugh. "So she just ran off without a sound. Wonderful."

He turned to leave, but an attendant in charge of the ceremony hurried after him. "Your Majesty, the preparations for the wedding banquet are still underway. Where are you going?"

"Miss Bronnie Kilcher was asking everywhere for you last night. If you don’t show up this morning, I’m afraid you’ll completely infuriate the young lady and ruin the engagement banquet."

"It doesn’t matter. I’ve suddenly decided I don’t want to get married. It’s boring. Send someone to take that Bronnie Kilcher home. As for the reason..." Biya paused for a moment. "Just say I’m incapable of reproducing. I don’t want Admiral Kilcher’s daughter to live like a widow by my side. The engagement is off."

With that, he swiped his hand through the air and vanished without a trace, leaving the attendants staring at each other in bewilderment.

’Even if the King wanted an excuse to call off the wedding, couldn’t he at least have come up with a believable one?’

’Who would believe a reason like that?’

’What a lame excuse!’

The Insect Beast servants had no other choice but to dutifully relay his exact words.

Bronnie Kilcher’s face turned ugly. She apparently hadn’t expected her chosen mate to be a barren insect incapable of reproducing. But then she recalled his behavior the previous night—

’He drank an aphrodisiac wine, and when faced with my body, he had absolutely no physical reaction!’

’Maybe he really is barren. No wonder he’s never looked for a female!’

"Hmph! I suppose he has some conscience, at least." Miss Bronnie tore up the engagement contract and was escorted back to her family by her retinue.

...

Entering the Zone One base required a special key.

The Zone One base had two chief researchers, each holding one of the keys. Both were under heavy protection by order of the Zone One Insect King, with dedicated escorts whenever they went out.

Academician Gardner was one of those chief researchers.

His manor was protected by layers of security, both inside and out, with countless Hidden Guards concealed in the shadows. Any intruder with ill intent would be captured on the spot.

Today, an infiltrator had been caught and was brought before Gardner.

"What are your orders for this one, sir? Do we kill them on the spot, or take them away for interrogation?"

The Insect Clan guard shoved a tightly bound person to the floor.

The captive was injured, their clothes ragged and their hair a mess. With their head bowed, their face was obscured. They looked like an ordinary member of the Insect Clan, driven to desperation and risking their life for money—the type you could rarely get any valuable intelligence from.

Gardner leaned back against the sofa, a floor-to-ceiling window at his back. He was holding a gun. He glanced up at the captive, his laugh unreadable. "You’ve got quite the nerve."

The guard kicked the captive to the ground. "You’re looking to die!"

Gardner opened the cylinder, loaded five bullets, and left one chamber empty.

He raised the gun and aimed at the captive.

BANG!

The gun went off.

Blood sprayed. The Insect Clan guard behind the captive collapsed in a pool of blood before he could even cry out.

The scene erupted into chaos. With a few more gunshots, all the guards in the room were down.

Sang Luo dropped her disguise, undid the ropes, and brushed off her clothes. Standing up, she frowned at the man on the sofa. "What are you doing here?"

’She had sensed his presence the moment she entered the room.’

Gardner’s figure gradually changed, transforming into a tall man with short, silver-gray hair. His eyes were deep-set, his features handsome and well-defined. Light filtering through the floor-to-ceiling window reflected in his ochre-gray irises, revealing a hint of dark gold.

Biya leaned back languidly, his body sinking into the sofa. He spoke lightly, "I didn’t come for you, at any rate. Now, hand over what you have."

Sang Luo tossed the tranquilizer gun to the floor. "Where’s the real Gardner? Did you kill him?"

"You were a step too slow."

"Tch. If it weren’t for the ability restrictions, I would’ve gotten it long ago. I wouldn’t have had to be so damn roundabout," Sang Luo said indignantly. "Since you killed Gardner, you must have gotten the base’s key, right?"

A golden key materialized in Biya’s hand. "Is this what you want?"

Sang Luo lunged for it. With a malicious smile, Biya pulled his hand back just as she was about to grab the key, causing her to lunge into empty air.

The lunge brought them extremely close. Sang Luo’s right knee was pressed into the sofa, her body leaning forward. The man’s long, broad hand took the opportunity to land on her waist. With a firm push, she tumbled into his lap, landing on his strong, lean thighs.

The tips of their noses brushed.

Sang Luo’s eyes flew wide. With one hand, Biya effortlessly caught both of her slender wrists. He opened his other palm, revealing the key.

Their breaths mingled in an indescribably intimate and ambiguous haze. He tilted his head, chuckling softly beside her ear. "Want it? Beg me."
