Forever Destined to the Silver Shadow-Chapter 191: Use your rival’s weakness against them
Lilin’s POV:
I was on the verge of losing my mind after I heard what he said. "I should snatch the powers from others who have it? But how is that even possible to do? It is impossible to snatch others’ strengths. All we can do is destroy it."
Hage smiled and said, "This is exactly your problem, Lilin. You always look for a complicated route in everything—while the answer to your problem is actually a simple one."
Hage then opened another grey wine bottle that was on the counter and filled his empty glass. "You don’t necessarily have to make yourself stronger if you want to win. If you make your enemy weak, then you will eventually be the stronger one!"
He paused and gulped the grey wine down his throat. I almost lost count on how many glasses he drank. It must be at least ten! Still, he was not a bit affected by the intoxicant. All glory goes to the shapeshifting power in him!
Once he emptied his glass again, he continued to speak. "All you have to do is inspire a lot of light creatures to join the dark side. If you manage to turn enough creatures into darkness, then the side of the light will diminish—and the Shadow creatures will become powerful again!"
For a moment, I gaped at my purple-eyed mentor. Why wasn’t I able to come up with an idea like this by myself? This is precisely how the light forces got diminished in the past—as a lot of Faes and Mages joined the dark side.
"Thank you for your advice, mentor! Now I know what I should do next," I said and got up from the stool.
"And you need to focus on one more thing," Hage added. "Always your main objective should be to destroy the Dawn. Even if you manage to diminish the light force, the Dawn and her Shadow have the potential to defeat you effortlessly."
I was so insulted by his words. How could he say that the weakling Celestia is more powerful than me?
"Master," I sighed and scraped the bar counter next to me with my nails. "I am so offended that you still don’t believe in me! After all the quests I have succeeded in, you still don’t acknowledge me?"
Hage didn’t respond to the question I asked him. He was more focused on refilling his glass. It is bad enough that he doesn’t acknowledge me; his ignorance caused me even more pain.
But I continued upholding myself to him. "I am the most powerful entity in all three realms. That weakling is nothing in front of me. So you can’t say that Celestia is more powerful than me," I almost shouted that out.
Once I fell silent, he slammed the empty glass over the counter—which resulted in the clinking noise of the glass breaking. He then left the stool and came near to me.
He smelled exactly like the grey wine that he had been drinking for this long. He stared down at me and said in an intense tone, "If you refuse to acknowledge the power of your opponents, then you will never be able to defeat them."
I hung my head down in remorse. So he doesn’t have faith in me! That’s why he is praising Celestia. My eyes began to get watery—and I had to blink my eyelids as I didn’t want my tears to fall down.
"Lilin," Hage shouted and placed his hand over my shoulder. "Are you insane? Why the hell are you weeping now?"
I somehow managed to resist my tears and looked up at him. "I have the powers of Nephilim—and still you say that a weakling is more powerful than me?"
Hage crossed his hands over his chest and said, "I never said that you are not powerful—you are an Anti-Angel now. But you refuse to acknowledge that Dawn is an Angel. And her Shadow is an Angelic Demon. If they both unite against you, then how can you win?"
I never thought of a possibility like that. I agree that Silver Shadow is potent. But it was hard for me to believe that Celestia has powers in her body. In her last birth, that weakling took more than twenty years to unleash a little of her divine powers.
Silver Shadow is her biggest strength. He always sticks to her like her Shadow and saves her from danger. I won’t be able to touch Celestia without going through her Shadow.
"The Dawn is nothing without her Shadow," I declared to him. "In her last birth, she took forever to unleash her powers. She survived this far because of the Silver Shadow. He takes care of her like her guardian angel and protects her."
Then I was able to feel the dread. Silver Shadow is an Angelic Demon! My Anti-Angel powers are not enough. This is what Hage was trying to make me understand all this time.
"Master, now I feel powerless! Now I think that I don’t stand a chance against Dawn and her Shadow."
I was surprised by the words that came out of my mouth. Just a few seconds ago, I told him that I am more powerful than all—now I am acknowledging the defeat.
"You are wrong again, Lilin. You fail to understand that everybody has a weakness. If you find out their weakness and use it against them, then you become more potent than them. This is the secret of victory—"
At first, I was irritated. Silver Shadow has no weakness. He is the only light creature to survive the abyss of torment. How can he be weak?
Then I realized how he fell into the pit in the first place. It was because of Celestia!
"Dawn is the weakness of Shadow!" I exclaimed excitedly. " His intelligence has diminished entirely. He has become a slave to her in the name of love. So I should use this weakness against him."
"You got it, Lilin. Now all you have to do is use the weakness of your enemy against them."
This is precisely why I come to Hage for advice. Whenever I lose my path, he creates one for me!
