Forced Pampering: Haughty Husband, Please Restrain Yourself-Chapter 901 - 911: Wifey, Thank You
The car cruised along the wide road, leaving Nan’an City behind.
After a night’s cleansing, the trees on both sides of the road stood taller and fresher, their leaves gleaming as if brushed, and with the window open, you could smell the fresh scent of earth.
It was not yet nine o’clock, and the sun wasn’t very strong. An Ran leaned back in her seat, wearing sunglasses, enjoying the light breeze through the open window while softly humming along with the songs from the car’s CD, feeling incredibly at ease.
Mu Xingfeng glanced at her from the side, a slight smile tugging at his lips. He should have taken her out more often. After all, she was just a young girl, full of childlike innocence. Being with someone like him, a career military man, was no easy task for her.
"Wifey, is there any place in particular you want to visit?" Although he had already planned the itinerary, Mu Xingfeng was still worried that An Ran might not like it.
An Ran turned, slightly lowering her head, her sunglasses slipping naturally to the tip of her nose. Her eyes, shimmering with light, looked at him through the lenses. "Didn’t you say we’re going hiking?"
Mu Xingfeng, amused by her playful demeanor, curled his lips, "If there’s somewhere else you’d like to go, we can always change the plan."
"No need, I want to go hiking with you."
In the past, when she was with the An Family, she rarely went out to play. On the few occasions she did, it was with classmates to parks or amusement parks in Pingxi City. Hearing Mu Xingfeng was taking her hiking, she was quite looking forward to it.
The car followed the mountain road, venturing further. As they passed through a valley, it suddenly stopped.
"Wifey, do you see that tree?"
An Ran followed Mu Xingfeng’s gaze and saw a lone tree standing by the river in the valley.
The tree was a common type, and there was nothing particularly remarkable around it. An Ran was puzzled, "I see it, what about it?"
"Back then, I fell into the water from that tree, hitting my head on that big rock under it," Mu Xingfeng said, then turned to look at An Ran, his dark eyes filled with deep affection. "Thank you, wifey."
An Ran knew exactly what time Mu Xingfeng was referring to. Looking at the tree and the large rock beneath it, she didn’t need to imagine how dangerous it had been back then. The place where she had found him was at least dozens of kilometers away from here.
An Ran leaned forward, gently wrapping her arms around his waist. "Mu Xingfeng, if you want to thank me, do so by keeping yourself safe in the future. Never put yourself in harm’s way again."
Mu Xingfeng held her tightly, gently kissing the top of her head, affirming with a simple "okay."
He would take good care of himself because of her existence. He knew she couldn’t live without him, so he needed to live well in this world, for her, to cherish and love her, and to give her the best life possible.
Mu Xingfeng was taking her to a popular tourist attraction in Nan’an, famous because of a temple at the top of the mountain that drew many visitors daily.
They hadn’t even reached the foot of the mountain when pedestrians became more frequent.
Mu Xingfeng parked the car at the mountain’s base, and a porter with a long stick approached, asking if they needed help carrying their luggage.
Mu Xingfeng took out An Ran’s small backpack separately and handed the remaining large bags to the porter. She knew they contained the tents, bedding for camping, and some food and water.
"Mu Xingfeng, I didn’t expect you’d be one to slack off," An Ran said, covering her mouth with a laugh as she watched the porter start up the mountain path first.
