Chapter 820: Chapter 820: Someone He Likes

Winnie Wyatt paused for a moment, then looked up with some annoyance at Evelyn Clayton.

Seeing the teasing mockery in Evelyn Clayton’s eyes, Winnie Wyatt seemed to become somewhat infuriated.

"I didn’t!" Winnie Wyatt gritted her teeth slightly, "I’m not here to kiss up to you! I just, just..."

Evelyn Clayton waited leisurely for her to finish, but Winnie Wyatt kept saying "just" without coming to any conclusion.

"If it’s really that hard to say, why not wait until you can say it and then come back?" Evelyn Clayton gently reminded Winnie Wyatt, "Also, I’m not very vindictive, even though you were quite rude to me before. When I officially join the board, I won’t retaliate against you."

Winnie Wyatt’s face reddened slightly, purely from anger, and she retorted, "I didn’t mean it that way! Even if you want revenge, I’m not afraid!"

Evelyn Clayton smiled brightly, "Oh? So what brings you here now?"

"I just wanted to, to apologize to you." Winnie Wyatt looked away, "The way I treated you before was because I like Director Sinclair."

Winnie Wyatt spoke so openly that Evelyn Clayton was quite surprised.

She suddenly became interested and looked at Winnie Wyatt sternly, "Although I’ve long figured that out, now that you’ve admitted it, aren’t you afraid I’ll tell Shane Sinclair?"

After all, undoubtedly by now, everyone in the company knows she and Shane Sinclair are siblings.

"I’m not afraid." Winnie Wyatt pursed her lips, "Director Sinclair also figured it out early on, so he’s been avoiding me, refusing any contact. I always thought he liked you, so I was rather unkind to you. Sorry, I made a mistake."

Evelyn Clayton chuckled, "Shane and I were indeed very close before, easy to misunderstand. But what surprises me is, why didn’t you mistake us for being together?"

"If you were really together, it wouldn’t be like this." Winnie Wyatt showed a confident expression, "I could see it. So I always thought Director Sinclair liked you, but you didn’t like him yet wanted to use him, so you kept stringing him along."

This statement brought a peculiar feeling to Evelyn Clayton.

But she didn’t overthink it, revealing a bemused smile, "You’ve imagined quite the story yourself."

"So upon realizing today that you’re siblings, I feel my previous behavior wasn’t very good." Winnie Wyatt finally felt somewhat embarrassed, but she was still as awkwardly proud as before, "But I’m definitely not saying this because I’m afraid of you. I still stand by my words, you don’t need to worry about me, if you can’t stand me, I can simply leave!"

Evelyn Clayton shook her head with a smile, "Rest assured, I won’t do anything to you. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have stayed at Apex for so long. Do you understand?"

Winnie Wyatt paused for a moment, then gently pressed her lips together upon realizing it.

She lowered her eyes and spoke even softer, but her attitude was more sincere, "I’m really sorry. I didn’t know anything before and was just wildly guessing. That won’t happen again."

"Alright, I accept your apology." Evelyn Clayton smiled faintly, "If there’s nothing else, perhaps Director Wyatt should leave first, as I’d like to get back to work."

Winnie Wyatt nodded and turned to leave.

At the doorway, she paused again.

"Um, I want to ask you, does Director Sinclair have someone he likes?"
