Flirted Wrong, Married Right-Chapter 780: Do You Still Remember Me
Coming out of Vivian’s office, Evelyn Clayton happened to bump into May.
"So, do you believe me now?" May looked gleeful and proud, "Vivian has sided with us, Winnie Wyatt would be furious."
Evelyn chuckled, "Why are you always bickering with her?"
"If she didn’t want to tangle with me, I’d have no interest in her," May snorted lightly, "But no worries, we won’t see her anymore."
Evelyn shook her head with a smile, saying nothing more.
The two of them headed to the fashion design department together.
The office area, which was empty just a few days ago, now was mostly occupied, with interior decorations being added, giving the place some life.
Evelyn took a stroll before heading to her new office to arrange her things.
She had just set her belongings in place when she received a phone call.
Without checking the caller ID, she answered casually, "Hello, who is this?"
There was a long silence on the other end until Evelyn paused what she was doing, suspiciously asking once more, "Who is this?"
After a while, the voice finally responded.
"Hello, Evelyn Clayton."
The moment she heard that voice, Evelyn was completely stunned.
Her blood ran cold in an instant.
This voice...
It was the same from five years ago, before her car accident, that call!
It was this person on the phone who warned Evelyn she was being followed.
Quickly glancing at the caller ID on her phone screen, Evelyn noticed it wasn’t a domestic number; it appeared to be an international call.
Steadying herself, Evelyn slowly said, "It’s you... why are you calling me again?"
The voice on the other end was silent for a long time.
Evelyn forced herself to wait patiently.
At last, the voice spoke, "You remember me."
"Of course," Evelyn gritted her teeth slightly, "It was you who called back then to warn me someone was following me... who on earth are you?"
"Who I am is not important," the strange voice crackled with a hint of electric noise, "What’s important is that we have a common enemy, which makes us friends, right?"
Evelyn’s tone turned sharper, "I don’t lack friends, nor do I need any other friends. Tell me your identity and your purpose, or I won’t hesitate to call the police."
The person on the other end chuckled carelessly, "You can try, but if the police could find me, I would have been in front of you after your accident."
Evelyn’s hand tightened slightly at her side. After a long pause, she asked word by word, "What exactly do you want to do?"
"I can help you," the voice on the other end grew deeper, becoming increasingly eerie through the receiver, "Do you want Arthur Chandler brought to justice?"
Evelyn’s eyes trembled slightly, and she couldn’t speak for a long time.
The caller seemed to have anticipated Evelyn’s reaction, chuckling softly, "It seems like you do. But you don’t have many people around you who can help. Those who can help aren’t worth your full trust... Evelyn, your situation is pretty dire."
Evelyn gritted her teeth slightly, her voice hoarse, "Are you saying you can help me? You don’t even dare to reveal your own identity, just a coward hiding behind a phone." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"I have the recording of Arthur Chandler instructing someone to set Reed Library on fire years ago."
