Flip the Coin [BL]-Chapter 259. Water Tanks
When the elevator came to a halt, I finally pushed Henry’s head away.
"Stop it." I took a step outside, and like a sticky little pup, he was on me the next second again.
"No." How is he always portraying himself as obedient when he so blatantly serves me his ’no’s to my face, and not once or twice, but constantly ?
The corridor to the room with the wet coffins was empty, so we really were late, apparently.
It was also interesting that nobody cared if we turned up late to the lessons.
Hmm, should we give the group a bit more time to tell the supervisor that they wouldn’t do that treatment in the water tanks?
"Want to sneak around?" I asked Henry.
"It would be my pleasure," he grinned.
I pushed him away again.
"Nice. But then don’t hang on me."
Instead of straight ahead and right, I turned left, with Henry beside me, looking at me unhappily.
"What? It’s not sneaking if we are joined at the hip," I said quietly.
"Fine, I’ll let this slide for now." He laughed again, and I stomped on his foot.
My fault for not letting him continue to mope around; he was really so damn annoying when happy.
I looked at the doors, but they seemed too normal for me to even try to open them.
Nice would be a black door instead of a white one, or some sign with a ’do not enter’ on it, which would indicate to hide something interesting.
We came to a door at the end of the corridor that had a little window in it. I looked through it and saw that it was the fire escape.
I pulled on the door, but it was locked. Is it normal to lock the fire escape door? Does that make sense?
Maybe I’m just strange.
I could teleport inside, but there were cameras, so that’s a no.
And it was the only door I was really interested in because it would lead deeper down the building, deeper than the elevator buttons would take one.
"Well, what an adventure, right?" I looked at Henry, whose lips twitched in amusement.
"Let’s go to the tanks," he said, making it a point to sling his arm around my neck again.
We aren’t sneaking around anymore, so I guess it’s fine.
When we opened the door to the water tanks, there was no discussion or anything—only closed coffins and the supervisor doing her duty and overseeing things.
Did the others already leave?
The supervisor saw us and smiled, motioning to the open water tanks.
I made my way to her with Henry. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Sorry, we can’t go along with this treatment."
"Oh? Why?" she asked me.
"I am claustrophobic, and he is as well." I pointed at Henry, who served as silent support and let me do the speaking.
"We did talk about this last time, right?" She said, as if she just remembered.
"Just try it." There was an understanding smile on her face.
"No, we don’t want to."
"I understand, but could you at least attempt to overcome your fears? If you feel uncomfortable inside, you can exit at any time."
I chuckled in anger.
"No."
"Why? You have to at least try it. Don’t let your fears define your actions."
I ran a hand through my hair and licked my lips, feeling a bit speechless, while Henry began to emit a murderous aura. Yet, just as he wanted to say something, I patted his arm.
Let’s see if we can resolve this peacefully.
"No." I repeated slowly.
"Why? Just give it a try." She dismissively smiled and turned her body, wanting to pat my shoulder before walking away, when Henry grabbed her wrist and stopped her from touching me with the arm he had around me.
She halted, and I suddenly thought of the others.
"Are they inside? The ones who told you they didn’t want to go through with this?" I asked her.
"Y...yes." The supervisor stared at Henry’s hand holding her wrist with a bit of fear.
"Unbelievable." I turned around, and while Henry held her in place, I went to the water tanks to look through the windows.
I found one of the twins first and pushed the button to open the chamber. The light blond girl snapped her eyes open and looked at me nervously.
I pulled her out.
"Go change your clothes."
"STOP! You can’t do that! Don’t interrupt the treatment!" The supervisor exclaimed, and when I looked back, I saw Henry putting a finger to his mouth.
"Shh." He scared her into silence while I continued to look for my people.
I got everyone out—Glasses Guy, the other twin, Chelsea, and Anti Guy—and told each of them to get changed the moment they stepped out, which everyone gladly did.
In the end, it was just Henry, the supervisors, and me left alone again with the other closed coffins.
I walked back and reached into the pocket of my white pants, conjuring up a recording device before I pressed play and pulled it out, showing it to the supervisor.
"Coercing people into undergoing treatment they don’t want? And the people you do that to aren’t prisoners; they’re here voluntarily and fucking traumatized? I recorded our whole conversation."
She widened her eyes at my bluff... cough... at my recording device.
"No... They wanted to at least give it a try..."
"Yeah, sure. You’ll hear from our attorney." I smirked at her and saw Henry reaching for her clipboard, which she still held without letting go of her.
He looked at the notes on it before flicking his wrist and throwing it to the other side of the large room, where it slammed against the wall.
The supervisor screamed shrilly as Henry let go of her and turned to me, all smiles, though that wasn’t the case a second ago.
I chuckled and put the recording device inside my pocket, where I let it disappear, and walked to the men’s changing room, opening it for a second to tell them we would wait outside, before going through the girls’ door and saying the same through the closed door. Then Henry and I left the room to wait in the corridor.
"What a shitshow." I leaned against the wall and closed my eyes.
"This will have consequences." Henry leaned beside me.
"You know, it would be different if they forced us with this bullshit ’trying,’ but the others? What the hell, they’re already traumatized to the max."
"They won’t force us; before they do that, we’ll burn that place down." Henry said lazily, meaning every word he said.
"Yeah, especially after we’ve been warned about water and stuff." Now I suddenly wanted to know about the floor beneath us.
And about what was going on with the water tanks.
Damn it, there was naturally a way to do that; I just didn’t think of it for whatever reason.
"I’m going to flip the coin." I announced before entering the water tank room again, Henry naturally not waiting for me and directly following after me.
The supervisor was still inside; figured, there were still patients in the tanks.
She had apparently gone and taken her clipboard back and was currently on the phone but stopped speaking when she saw us entering.
Instead, she hastily took a few steps back before falling down.
After reaching her, I bent down and put my finger against her forehead in a rather threatening gesture, which wasn’t my intent, but it happened nevertheless.
The back of my hand; golden; eyes and ears uncovered.
I stand beside the supervisor, who talks through an open door with her boss.
I look at her boss, not recognizing his face.
"During the test phase, note if someone steps out of the wanted tanks earlier and how they are after the treatment. If they are sluggish when they change their clothes, or if their motor skills are fine, note down everything."
Cameras in the changing room?
Good to know.
Fuck.
THESE FUCKING ASSHOLES.
"Yes, sir."
"If they don’t want to go, let them just enter the chamber for a few minutes; they won’t choose to leave then. It’s very relaxing." He has a sly grin on his face.
The woman nods and turns to walk away, but then she thinks of something and turns back to the now-closed doors. The moment she wants to knock on the door, she hears her boss talking with someone and stops.
"...is not ready yet." Someone says.
"Why?" The boss asks.
"The military gave us access to their notes, but this drug hasn’t been developed yet, not to mention tested for its safety. It needs time."
"Haaa..." The boss sighs tiredly.
"We are the only department not ready for the first test participants."
"What do the others have to prepare? Nothing. Contrary to us." The other one replies.
"You don’t have to tell me that. What about the modification of the machine; the ’Rewart’?"
"Modifications are finished and tested... we still have problems choosing a tune that doesn’t occur in music or anywhere else in the outside world."
"Hurry up; the director said that the participants will soon show up." The boss urges.
"Where exactly will these four hundred voluntary participants suddenly come from?"
"Don’t ask me. The director said that they will just appear."
