Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk-Chapter 824: Putting Her Mind at Ease
Nora Northwood almost fell asleep, but now, hearing the familiar tone, her long lashes fluttered gently, and her almond-shaped eyes stared unblinkingly at Jasper Sinclair.
On her simple and clean face, there was a hint of drowsiness, contrasting with how she looked during the day. It was an indescribable contrast that stirred one’s heart.
Nora asked, "Why did you come back so late? Have you dealt with everything?"
Jasper patted her head, trying to soothe her little emotions, and then said, "There is a lot to handle, and Peach Bell’s leg injury will take nine months to a year to heal. Her brother and sister might not let it go easily."
"Do they want money? Or..."
She didn’t finish the second half of her sentence, but both of them knew clearly what Peach Bell truly wanted.
"If it’s money, that would be best. I’m just afraid they might take the opportunity to cause other trouble. But don’t worry, I’ll always be on your side."
These words undoubtedly reassured Nora.
Regaining a bit of clarity, the dreamy look in her eyes returned to calmness.
Jasper continued, "Since you don’t like her siblings, leave the subsequent matters to me. I’ll handle them properly, don’t let unrelated people affect your mood, okay?"
In this situation, Nora couldn’t bring herself to say "No."
So, she promised Jasper not to meet them in private.
Late at night.
Nora proactively wrapped her arms around Jasper’s robust waist from behind, an initiative that’s rare for her.
Obviously, she carried a tinge of low spirits.
Jasper didn’t turn around and asked with his back to her, "Why aren’t you sleeping yet?"
In the silent space, Nora said flatly, "After such an incident, you’re also very tired, right? When we were at the hospital this afternoon, I admit, my attitude wasn’t good, I’m sorry."
Hearing this, Jasper’s eyes narrowed, and his gaze grew deeper.
He didn’t expect her to apologize for this matter.
After half a minute, the man slowly turned around, fixedly looking at her, and with a slightly hoarse voice from his throat, he said, "You don’t need to apologize. It’s true I didn’t think things through. I promise you, from now on, I’ll put your feelings first."
Nora didn’t respond further.
To be honest, this wasn’t the answer she had hoped for.
She buried her head in Jasper’s chest, an indescribable ache in her heart.
She would rather Jasper shout at her, telling her she’s not considerate of the bigger picture, than for him to continuously suppress his temper and accommodate her unreasonable behavior.
Afterwards, Jasper didn’t say anything more; their bodies just quietly leaned against each other.
The man’s chin rested on Nora’s shoulder, feeling her body had grown thinner, with barely any flesh even as he held her.
Eventually, Nora, too tired, fell asleep.
Although this matter didn’t immediately impact their relationship,
Nora’s keen intuition told her that it felt as if something had changed.
But she couldn’t determine exactly what that "something" was.
That night, she didn’t sleep peacefully.
In the latter half of the night, as her body temperature rose, Nora several times wanted to break free from the embrace of the one beside her but was reluctant in her heart, sticking to him through the entire night.
In the unseen place, Jasper’s furrowed brows never relaxed.
