Chapter 801: Chapter 801: What Are Shameful Things

She stayed in the study until ten o’clock before she realized it had gotten very late.

When she returned to the living room, she found Jasper Sinclair staring blankly out the window.

The person by the window heard the door open, and without even turning his head, he judged by the sound of footsteps who it was. He said lightly, "I thought you were avoiding me."

"Jasper Sinclair, I suddenly realized something."

"What is it?"

Jasper turned his head, his eyes not looking at Nora Northwood, but at the door behind her, which wasn’t fully closed.

"You’re being very presumptuous now."

"So, do you have a lot of issues with me?"

As he asked this, he took a step forward, shut the door tightly, and locked it from the inside.

The "click" of the lock was magnified countless times in the dark night.

Nora’s heart skipped a beat, and she thought: Why lock the door?

Thinking this, she asked it out loud.

"What if we do something inappropriate and others hear or see it, what then?"

The implication in Jasper’s tone couldn’t have been clearer.

However, Nora was still not ready for anything to happen with him.

She climbed onto the bed, frowning, and said, "I don’t mind if you sleep on the floor."

As she bent down to straighten the covers, most of her chest was exposed.

Jasper, who had already decided on his position, felt quite unsatisfied with such an answer.

He even considered whether to invite Nora for a drink.

Perhaps Nora, slightly tipsy, would be more captivating.

...

As Nora had anticipated, nothing happened between them that night.

She was really exhausted, and all she could think about was sleep.

When the incandescent light was turned off, the entire room fell into endless darkness.

The curtains were drawn so tightly that not even moonlight could seep through.

The overly dark environment tended to make one lose their sense of security. After tossing and turning several times, Nora’s voice suddenly sounded, "Turn on the bedside lamp; the bedroom is too dark."

Jasper followed her request, turning on the small bedside lamp and carefully adjusting the light to a warm mode, lowering the brightness, before asking her, "Is this okay?"

"Yes, thank you."

With a little light, Nora’s heart felt much more at ease.

Maybe due to influences from her childhood, she didn’t like overly dim environments.

After a while, even breathing could be heard in the room.

Jasper noticed out of the corner of his eye that the covers rose and fell slightly.

Then, he turned his body.

In her sleep, Nora frowned, and he wondered if she was being plagued by nightmares.

Jasper watched for a moment, then, almost involuntarily, reached out his hand, the pad of his middle finger resting between her brows, brushing gently back and forth.

He didn’t know why he was doing this.

Before long, the frown between Nora’s brows smoothed out.

A slight smile curved Jasper’s lips, as if he was admiring a perfect piece of art.

As drowsiness gradually swept over him, he lightly draped his hand over Nora’s waist, not applying much pressure for fear of waking her from her deep sleep.

He suspected that if Nora really woke up, she would unhesitatingly remove his hand.

In the quiet night, their two breaths intertwined and tangled with each other.

It seemed as though something was quietly changing...
