Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk-Chapter 796: Which Friend Is She With?
At sunset.
Jasper Sinclair’s figure appeared once again at VK, as he took the vertical elevator straight to the thirty-fourth floor.
"Director Sinclair."
Yvonne Winslow was momentarily taken aback when she saw Jasper Sinclair, only greeting him after an awkward pause.
Initially, Jasper Sinclair didn’t notice anything amiss, but once he stepped into Nora Northwood’s office, he understood what that momentary shock meant.
The office was empty; there was no sign of Nora Northwood at all. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
He turned back to the secretary’s area and asked Yvonne Winslow, "Has Nora already left work?"
"Director Nora left earlier today. If you have anything important, you can contact her by phone."
Yvonne’s response was quite formal.
"Do you know where she went?"
"Sorry, I’m not aware of Director Nora’s personal schedule."
This answer was expected by Jasper Sinclair, and even if Yvonne Winslow did know, she might not necessarily tell him.
He rubbed his temples, seemingly agitated, and said, "Call her."
"Hmm?"
Yvonne Winslow didn’t react immediately — was he asking her to make the call?
These days, with her menstrual cycle, she often felt like her actions couldn’t keep up with the speed of her thoughts.
Her hesitation was obvious; anyone could see that the two big bosses’ relationship was experiencing tension, and no one wanted to be the one sticking their neck out.
Who wants to get shot for sticking their neck out?
"Secretary Winslow, do I need to repeat myself a second time?"
Yvonne Winslow was only able to stay beside Nora Northwood because Jasper Sinclair was backing her.
She understood Jasper Sinclair’s nature; he’s someone who means what he says.
So, under "coercion and inducement," Yvonne Winslow grudgingly made the call.
Jasper Sinclair saw her put the receiver to her ear and "helpfully" reminded her, "Put it on speaker."
Yvonne Winslow forced a smile and, in front of him, switched to speaker mode. Her smile was worse than crying.
She complained inwardly: Why do couple arguments have to involve her?
The call was answered quickly, and Nora Northwood’s clear voice came through from the other end, "Yvonne, what’s up?"
This tone was one of the rare gentle ones that Jasper Sinclair remembered.
"Director Sinclair is looking for you."
Yvonne took a deep breath before saying those words.
Once the words were out, Nora Northwood quickly deduced it must have been Jasper Sinclair’s idea.
After a brief silence, Nora Northwood patiently said, "Give him the phone."
Subsequently, Yvonne Winslow made a "hand over the phone" gesture, and Jasper Sinclair took it from her and turned off the speaker.
"Where are you?"
"Out meeting a friend. If you need anything, you can message me on WeChat."
"So I can’t call you if it isn’t urgent?" Jasper Sinclair lazily retorted.
Yvonne Winslow stood by, her gaze wandering around, unsure where to place her hands and feet.
Nora Northwood didn’t want to argue on the phone pointlessly; as she was about to hang up, she heard Jasper Sinclair’s voice once more, "Send me the address, I’ll pick you up after."
"My friend will give me a ride, no need for you to go out of your way."
At this, Jasper Sinclair’s eyes narrowed.
What kind of close friend would offer to drive her home?
He insisted on asking Nora Northwood for the address, but she didn’t oblige and abruptly hung up the phone.
When Jasper Sinclair returned the phone to Yvonne Winslow, his face had darkened.
He had a stubborn breath held in his chest, wanting to ask but unable to swallow his pride, making things immediately awkward.
"Uh... Director Sinclair, if you don’t have any other business, should I and my colleagues leave work now?"
