Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk-Chapter 784: Even If It’s an Act, Play It to the Fullest
Nora Northwood found a quiet corner, just about to sit down when Raina Sinclair came looking for her.
"Nora, Jasper is looking for you."
Rather than Jasper Sinclair seeking her out, it was more like the anticipation of those present, awaiting her declaration.
If only Nora Northwood would stand by Jasper Sinclair’s side, all rumors would naturally be dismissed.
Nora took a sip of sake from her glass and responded, "Got it, I’ll go find him."
As she stood up, Raina lightly patted her shoulder, offering comfort, "Jasper only temporarily lost his memory. When he recovers, he’ll apologize to you."
Nora brushed it off with a smile.
When she eventually arrived at the center of the banquet hall, she found everyone’s gaze fixed on the same spot.
By the edge of the dance floor, Rachel Woodward was extending her palm, inviting Jasper Sinclair to dance.
Typically, such invitations are initiated by the man, so this sudden role reversal piqued curiosity.
Nora, filled with an air of watching a good show, crossed her arms, positioning herself as an outsider.
She was curious whether Jasper Sinclair would remain as averse to this woman as ever.
Being too far away, Nora couldn’t hear their conversation clearly, relying on lip-reading.
She guessed that Rachel Woodward might be turned down.
Nora reluctantly retracted her gaze just as Vincent Morgan appeared.
"You look quite bored."
"Morgan, you should’ve known from the first time we met that I dislike these kinds of gatherings."
But, under obligation, she attended... the rest she left unsaid.
"How about getting some fresh air outside with me?"
Nora hesitated for a moment, but reason held her back.
The interaction between the two did not escape Jasper Sinclair’s watchful eyes, stirring his emotions.
Striding quickly, he headed straight towards Nora’s direction.
As if declaring ownership, he wrapped his arm around her shoulder, "Honey, where have you been? I couldn’t find you."
His tone of accusation sounded more like a playful complaint.
Yet, the term "playful" seemed ill-suited when applied to Jasper Sinclair.
The strong sense of incongruity gave Nora goosebumps as she asked, "What are you looking for me for?"
"It’s nothing urgent, just inviting you to open the dance with me."
"I’m a bit tired." Nora refused.
Undeterred by her rejection, Jasper drew even closer.
Their proximity narrowed down to mere centimeters, completely disregarding Vincent Morgan’s presence.
Leaning closer, Jasper lowered his voice so only the two could hear, "Everyone’s watching, even if it’s all an act, we’ve got to make it convincing."
He made a valid point; if Nora refused again, it would seem she was being inconsiderate of the broader situation.
"Alright, let’s dance."
She couldn’t evade the dancing part.
After one dance, Jasper Sinclair was surrounded by numerous business partners, leaving Nora unattended.
This scenario was much to Nora’s liking, everyone doing their own thing without interference, just like... when they first got their marriage certificate, confirming their relationship.
An endless stream of entrepreneurs came up to Jasper Sinclair.
Nora, feeling uninspired, having made enough of an impression, sought out the lounge to rest.
The banquet was nearing its end, and no one was paying attention to her movements.
Finally, Jasper got a moment to catch his breath, looking around the venue, only to find the one he had been fixated on was nowhere to be seen.
