Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot-Chapter 458 - 457: It’s So Awkward to Ask for Help
Holy moly, has the boss lost his mind? Or did a dog bite him? What does this sudden smile mean?
"Well, if you really want to thank me, come over earlier." Nia Mitchell’s voice was softer now, lacking its usual sharp edge.
So, all the executives at Star Media began to speculate about who exactly was on the phone with CEO Mitchell. A friend? A relative? Whoever it was, anyone capable of making CEO Mitchell extend an olive branch couldn’t be an ordinary person.
If they knew that the person on the phone with Edbert Mitchell was merely a former secretary of Star Media, their jaws would probably drop to the floor.
"Please don’t make things difficult for me. I’m not sure if I can come. However, a classmate of mine is looking for work. Do you have any open positions there?" After Nia Mitchell said this, her face flushed red. Even though she was quite familiar with him, taking the initiative to ask about this, essentially trying to pull some strings, was deeply mortifying. She felt rather awkward.
After speaking, she held her breath, waiting for Edbert Mitchell’s response. The line was silent; only the sound of breathing could be heard.
"If... if there are no vacancies, then never mind." Nia Mitchell also felt her words had been a bit abrupt, and her face turned an even deeper shade of red.
Hearing the embarrassment in her voice, Edbert Mitchell chuckled softly. "Have her come in to report tomorrow. We have many vacancies here."
Edbert Mitchell’s smile widened, and he began to feel quite elated. When someone starts asking you for favors, it means you hold a different position in her heart. Besides, this was a trivial matter. Alright, truth be told, he was mainly thrilled because Nia Mitchell hadn’t asked Maxwell Peary for help. This made him feel that he was more important to her than Maxwell Peary. Even if not more important, he at least held a very special place in her heart.
"Okay, thank you! I’ll call her right now." Nia Mitchell was overjoyed and didn’t give Edbert Mitchell a chance to say anything else before hanging up immediately. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
BEEP—BEEP—BEEP—
Listening to the dial tone, Edbert Mitchell felt utterly exasperated.
Everyone in the conference room was watching Edbert Mitchell. When they saw him frowning as he lowered the phone from his ear, they all breathed a collective sigh of relief. Finally, they could get back to work.
"Which departments are short-staffed?" This was the first thing Edbert Mitchell said after hanging up and resuming the meeting. Everyone was momentarily stunned, not quite processing it.
When Edbert Mitchell saw that no one spoke, he frowned. "So, no department is short-staffed after all? In that case, never mind. Let’s get back to the previous topic."
The department heads: ...
Edbert Mitchell didn’t dwell on it. If no department needed anyone, he’d just place her in the CEO’s Office.
In reality, how could a company as large as Star Media not be short-staffed? Everyone had simply failed to react in time. By the time they wanted to speak up, Edbert Mitchell had already moved on from the topic.
The department heads: !!!!!!!!
Should they interrupt Edbert Mitchell now and tell him their departments *were* in fact short-staffed? Considering Edbert Mitchell’s temperament, the feasibility of such a plan was a mere one percent.
So, everyone kept silent. This directly led to a situation where no department dared to send a notice to the Human Resources Department to begin recruitment preparations.
About a month or so later, all the departments finally reported their staffing needs to the Human Resources Department, and Star Media initiated its largest-scale recruitment drive to date.
When Edbert Mitchell learned about this later, he was quite perplexed. Were conditions at his Star Media really that bad? Had so many people quit in such a short time?
